We’re looking for a Deputy Shelter Manager to join our friendly leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the daily running and continuous improvement of our busy Shelter.

You’ll support the Shelter Manager in overseeing animal welfare, team management, and day-to-day operations — helping us deliver the highest standards of care and ensure every animal’s journey is positive from arrival to adoption.

As a live-in role, you’ll also be part of our out-of-hours cover team, ensuring the Shelter runs smoothly around the clock.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Duty Manager, supporting the Shelter’s day-to-day operations.
• Lead on animal intake, ensuring high welfare standards and efficient use of space.
• Supervise and support staff and volunteers, encouraging development and teamwork.
• Work closely with our veterinary partners and the Animal Behaviour team.

Desirable: Animal Care qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3), experience in animal behaviour or veterinary work, or leadership training.

Duties and responsibilities

Human resources

1. Maintain employee records in line with GDPR principles and confidentiality requirements

The Donor Relations Officer is a pivotal position within the Donor Relations team. • Proven property management:  Substantial experience managing a multi-site or global property portfolio, including facilities management and residential properties as well as experience in generating income from conference suite or facilities hire.

About the opportunity

As Property and Facilities Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of our London office operations, ensuring it's safe, compliant, and a genuinely great place to work. This is a hands-on role within our Finance & Assurance directorate, based at our London office, where you'll work alongside the Property & Facilities Manager to deliver workplace environments that support our colleagues to make a real difference. You'll also provide support to our wider office portfolio, with occasional visits to other sites a couple of times a month.

You'll be the go-to person for everything from statutory compliance and health and safety coordination to managing contractors, overseeing office projects, and ensuring our spaces run smoothly day-to-day. Whether it's conducting site audits, coordinating first aiders and fire wardens, managing building inductions, or problem-solving reactive maintenance issues, you'll bring energy, initiative, and a solutions-focused mindset to everything you do.

While based in London, this role involves occasional travel to our other offices, giving you the opportunity to build relationships with colleagues and local teams across the Society. You'll work collaboratively with facilities management contractors, landlords, internal teams, and stakeholders at every level to keep our buildings safe, efficient, and welcoming.

About you

You'll have:

- Facilities management experience, ideally in a multi-site environment.

What you'll focus on:

- Supporting the Property & Facilities Manager to deliver safe, compliant, and inspiring workplaces across our office portfolio.
- Coordinating statutory compliance, health and safety tasks, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Managing relationships with facilities contractors, ensuring quality service and value.
- Conducting regular site audits and maintaining accurate asset registers.
- Recruiting, training, and coordinating first aiders and fire wardens.
- Leading building inductions for new starters and trustees.
- Project managing office moves, refurbishments, and reconfigurations.
- Responding efficiently to reactive maintenance issues and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Keeping facilities guidance and procedures current and fit for purpose.

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Services and Branch Finance Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Finance and Resources, you will oversee financial compliance, business support services, and operational governance across our homing network.

This multifaceted role blends financial expertise, business services leadership, and compliance oversight, including Health & Safety, HR administration, procurement, fleet management, and facilities. You will be key in ensuring strong financial controls and supporting strategic decisions to enhance the impact of our charity.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage branch financial compliance, ensuring timely, accurate reporting aligned with Trust policies.

• Lead financial modelling and analysis to support new and ongoing branch activities.

• Oversee business support services including HR administration, insurance, data protection, and facilities management.

• Manage procurement and contract arrangements to secure best value and service quality.

• Provide strategic oversight of Health & Safety compliance, working with partners and branch teams.

Main Responsibilities:

Overview

• Oversight and management of Pecan's financial planning, accounting, and reporting.
• Oversight and management of the organisations financial risk and compliance, and safeguarding of assets through effective processes and procedures.
• Oversight and management of performance and organisational data: its collection, storage, analysis and reporting. 

Finance

1. Advise and report to the Board, Chief Executive and SMT on all financial matters, including investments, reserves, financial forecasting and cashflow, financial performance and systems. 
2. Lead the financial planning for the organisation, including annual budgeting and re-forecasting as necessary and to prepare regular financial report, including management accounts, cashflow, and other reports as required by the Board, the SMT and budget holders. 
3. Provide financial information, advice and support, including training, which meets the needs of the Trustees, SMT and other staff within Pecan. In particular, work with service leads to provide all necessary financial budgeting input to funding bids and funding monitoring and reporting, ideally also upskilling the service leads in this area. 
4. Take responsibility for the day to day management and administration of the finance functions such as bank reconciliations, petty cash and donation records, accounts payables & receivables, VAT and gift aid claimed. 

Key Requirements (specific skills, qualifications required):

• Experience of working in a senior accounting role, including budget and financial policy formulation.
• A track record of preparing management accounts and other financial reports.
• Strong financial management skills and ability (including SORP).
• Entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.

We are seeking a detail-oriented finance professional with strong ledger and reconciliation experience to join our Finance and Legacy Administration team as Finance Officer. You’ll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the charity whilst working alongside the Finance Officer (Payables) and reporting to the Head of Finance and Administration. You’ll be liaising with staff across the charity, those in Head Office, the four Farms and their Visitor Centres, Field officers and the International Team.

Key Responsibilties: 

• Processing of Farm, Visitor Centre and Shop income 

• Processing and reconciling of fundraised income

• Co-ordination and control of stock at Visitor Centres and Head Office

• Sales ledger 

• Processing of international expenses journals from the circa 16 international projects the Charity funds 

• Assist in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts including accruals and prepayments 

• Ensure that the Fixed Asset Register is kept updated and reconciled 

• Assist in the preparation of Quarterly VAT returns 

• Working proactively with the Head of Finance and Administration, Finance Officer (Payables) and other key internal staff to achieve the overall goals of the Charity 

About you:

We’re looking for someone with substantial experience using finance software packages, strong skills in sales and nominal ledger management, and a solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping. You’ll need excellent Excel and numeracy skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. Ideally, you’ll be AAT qualified or part-qualified, with experience using Sage 200 or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and familiarity with EPOS systems, charity VAT, and foreign currency transactions. A flexible, organised, and conscientious approach is essential, along with a genuine interest in the work and values of World Horse Welfare. 

Location:

The role is based in Norfolk and is currently a hybrid split of 2 days in our head office in Snetterton and 3 days at home. You may be required to attend events around the UK so the ability to travel occasionally is necessary.
