Role Summary
The Graphic Designer plays a key role in shaping and maintaining Alcohol Change UK’s visual identity. This role is responsible for producing engaging visual content across multiple digital and print channels to inform, engage, and inspire our audiences, and across our flagship campaigns including the Dry January® challenge. Sitting within our Marketing and Communications department, the postholder will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure that all creative outputs align with our brand identity and communication goals. As we continue on our ambitious five year strategy, growing our ambition across campaigns and fundraising activities, the Graphic Designer will play a key role in strengthening the visual presence of Alcohol Change UK and driving greater brand awareness.

About the Departments:
Both roles sit within the Cathedral and Church Buildings (CCB) Department, which supports the care and sustainable development of the Church of England's 42 cathedrals and 16,000 church buildings, of which 12,500 are listed, to help fulfil the vision and strategy of the Church of England. It also supports dioceses with the disposal of church buildings no longer required for worship and finding them a new future. Through advice, guidance, advocacy and fundraising, the Department provides strategic support on conservation and caring for historic church buildings, making change to support worship and communities, and working towards Net Zero Carbon 2030. Members of the Department engage with dioceses, parishes and cathedral teams, as well as nationally with government, agencies, charities, funders, General Synod and across the National Church Institutions to make the case for church buildings and their vital role in worship, community and national life.
Buildings for Mission team
The Buildings for Mission project is an initiative of the Department funded by the Church Commissioners from the 2023-25 triennium allocations. It is providing £11m of support to dioceses and parishes through advice and grants, structured around three main activities. The Church Buildings Support Officers (CBSO) Grant Scheme supports salary and related costs for new posts to provide advice to parishes on repair and maintenance and on developing the wider use and support for churches through community engagement. The Minor Repairs and Improvements Grants Fund is devolving £6.2m to dioceses to distribute in the form of grants for urgent and necessary small-scale repair projects or improvement projects. The Church Buildings Management Partnerships (CBMPs) initiative aims at the formation of partnerships to provide maintenance and insurance services to member churches. Pilot projects are being grant-aided over the period 2025-26.
The Grants Officer role within the Buildings for Mission team will provide a responsive service for the grant schemes under the Buildings for Mission initiative:
- The Church Buildings Support Officers (CBSO) Grant Scheme,
- The Minor Repairs and Improvements Grants Fund, and
- The Church Buildings Management Partnerships (CBMP) pilots.
Net Zero Carbon Programme
The Net Zero Carbon Programme was established to help the Church of England to deliver its commitment to reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. It aims to aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport by 2030. The team manages the distribution of a grant portfolio worth £190 million across 2023-31, aimed at supporting and equipping dioceses, parishes and other parts of the Church to reach the milestones set out in the Routemap to Net Zero 2030.
The Grants Officer role within the Net Zero Carbon programme will play a vital role in supporting the work of the Net Zero Carbon Programme's grant streams, supporting it in delivering a consistent and responsive service to grantees.
In both roles, duties will include:
- Assisting the Grants Manager with general operation and oversight of the schemes
- Providing a knowledgeable and responsive service to dioceses as first point of contact for the grant schemes
- Handling general enquiries and pre-application engagement, assessing and responding to expressions of interest from prospective applicants
- Handling a caseload of live grants
Key role requirements:
- For the Buildings for Mission role, the post-holder will be required to come into the primary office location (Church House) or another NCI or diocesan office location (subject to agreement with relevant office management) a minimum of one day per week.
- For the Net Zero Carbon Programme role, the post-holder will required to be home-based, with regular meetings in Church House Westminster and occasional travel elsewhere (up to two days per month).
- These are both fixed-term contracts, Buildings for Mission team (12 month contract) and Net Zero Carbon Programme (12 month contract). There is a possibility that these contract lengths could be extended to the end of 2028, but this is dependant on further funding being agreed.
- You will need to have knowledge/experience of historic and/or natural environment conservation or heritage management OR experience working in the environment or sustainability sector (depending on which role you choose to apply for).
- Both roles require good written/spoken communication skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to work well both on own initiative and good analytical skills.

Overall Job Purpose
To develop and manage AFK’s Mobility Service including overseeing the progress of funding applications for mobility equipment, managing the waiting list and ensuring a quality service to our beneficiaries. The Advocacy and Mobility Services Manager will be responsible for providing advocacy support, enabling applicants to secure equipment from statutory services, where appropriate. Line Manager to the Fundraising and Mobility Officer
Close working relationships with mobility equipment suppliers
On a day-to-day basis there will be regular contact with beneficiaries and their families, mobility equipment suppliers and health professionals, as well as Service Delivery and Fundraising Managers.
On-going contact with grant giving organisations and associated bodies.
Principal Responsibilities
1. To develop policies to support the direction of AFK’s Mobility Services, in relation to criteria for funding equipment, guidance on managing the waiting lists and the provision of loaned/ beneficiary owned equipment etc.
2. To identify applicants for mobility funding who could access statutory funds. To provide advocacy support to those families including submitting formal letters of complaint to NHS Trusts and/or taking legal advice. To monitor savings to the Mobility budget, as a direct result of advocacy intervention.
3. To ensure the mobility equipment budget is spent appropriately by developing and implementing funding criteria, negotiating competitive rates with suppliers, encouraging families to consider a range of options for high end equipment and ensuring statutory services support funding where appropriate.
4. To line manage the Fundraising and Mobility Officer to enable her/him to progress applications for mobility grants, from initial enquiry to order and delivery of equipment.
5. To provide AFK’s Fundraising and Communications teams with data and feedback from families and to identify potential case studies.
6. To support selected applicants with individual fundraising, including applying to Trusts and charities and writing to businesses.
7. To monitor the funds raised by AFK’s individual fundraising activity.
8. To keep abreast of changes in the field for example: developments among competitors and pricing in the market; progress of the NHS England wheelchair campaign; and changes to Clinical Commissioning Groups’ criteria.

About the Role
Fundraising & Membership Development
● Develop and implement strategies to grow our membership and diversify income.
● Secure new revenue through sponsorships, grants, and fundraising campaigns.
● Build strong relationships with stakeholders and funders.
Communications
● Raise UDG’s profile across the built environment sector, government, media and public.
● Manage all communication channels: email newsletters, social media, website.
● Lead media engagement and develop high-quality content and messaging.
Events
● Support the delivery of our flagship events, including the National Urban Design Conference and Urban Design Awards.
● Lead on planning, promotion, and delivery of both in-person and online events.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
● Minimum 3 years in fundraising, marketing, or communications in a relevant sector.
● Track record of developing and delivering successful income-generation and engagement strategies.
● Strong communications experience across digital platforms and media engagement.
Essential Skills
● Excellent verbal and written communication, networking, and presentation skills.
● Website and CMS management; confident with tools like Mailchimp, Eventbrite, and Zoom.
● Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.

What We Offer

Philanthropy Manager
8-month FTC
£37,000-£38,000 FTE

Charity People are excited to partner with a charitable organisation to find them a new Philanthropy Manager, this is a maternity cover role.
As Philanthropy Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Development team. You will actively manage a pool of individual donors to cultivate, steward and solicit donations for exhibitions, education, and programmes. You will have great administrative and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with high-net-worth people, and a sound understanding of fundraising and the sector. There is no line management responsibility for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Head of Philanthropy to implement and refine the organisation's major giving strategy, with a focus on securing mid-to-high level gifts.
- Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, ensuring personalised cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
- Develop compelling fundraising proposals, working closely with Programmes colleagues to gather project and financial information.
- Support the Head of Philanthropy in securing major gifts for key fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for project-specific donations from existing members.
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy Officer to research and identify new major donor prospects, building and maintaining a pipeline of potential supporters.
- Ensure high-quality donor stewardship through bespoke engagement, reporting, and recognition opportunities.
- Maintain accurate donor records, tracking gifts and ensuring accurate acknowledgment in exhibition materials, reports, and event invitations.
- Play a role in planning and delivering key cultivation events, to ensure our supporters remain engaged and events meet agreed KPI's.
- Keep up to date with giving trends and philanthropic developments, sharing insights with the team to inform strategy.
- Attend the organisation's events as appropriate.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained through the CRM system.
- Ensure all personal details are managed in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
- Work with the Philanthropy team to ensure philanthropic partnerships do not carry financial or reputational risk to the organisation and are compliant with the organisation's ethical fundraising policy through active Due Diligence for Ethics Committee.
- Work closely with the Finance team to ensure donations are managed efficiently.
You will bring:
- Experience of cultivating, soliciting and closing 5 figure+ gifts from individuals.
- Previous experience of contributing to or participating in strategy development, devising and implementing plans for major gifts fundraising.
- Pro-active, resourceful and entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and ability to take initiative and work autonomously when required.
- A highly organised and flexible approach to work, able to plan and prioritise a varied and busy workload and deliver agreed outputs to tight deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into compelling narrative form.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively as part of the wider Development team and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Innovative and creative approach to research methodologies and identifying prospective supporters.
- Previous experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM system.
- Knowledge of data protection legislation.

Your responsibilities will include:
Working with the transformation team to build customer journeys in our new MarTech platform, Adobe, supporting building a bank of digital collateral, migrating existing communications into the new platform and ensuring all marketing activities conform to BHF brand.
Collaborating with internal teams to make the most efficient use of current customer data and how to use it to personalise within communications journeys. Whilst supporting on building audience segments and business rules for customer engagement.
Reporting on performance of communications and translating this information for wider stakeholders, utilising tools to understand conversions and customer behaviours to inform a marketing automation strategy to be shared with digital and other fundraising colleagues.
About you
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Strong understanding of omnichannel principles, alongside data segmentation and personalisation in digital communications
- Experience of integrated marketing automation platforms such as Adobe (desirable), dotdigital, Salesforce or Hubspot
- Proven ability to develop impactful creative and copy and experience designing, developing and delivering automated personalised customer journeys
- Experience of working with large data sets and utilising to improve customers lifetime value
- Skills in analytics and data visualisation tools
- Experience of project management and effectively using tools to support this such as Jira

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

We are seeking a Fundraising Manager to help us develop our fundraising programme and raise the funds we need to deliver the aims in our five-year strategy Stopping the Harm and ensure the ongoing sustainability of our organisation.
Our new Fundraising Manager will be flexible, creative and ambitious. We are looking for someone who is passionate about our cause, has a tried and tested, successful approach to diversifying income streams, and can bring our fundraising to life through effective framing and storytelling.
This is vital role which will sit within our Operations team. The post-holder will work closely with Respect’s Director of Operations and the Executive Leadership team (ELT) to develop and deliver our fundraising strategy with some administrative support from the Operations team.
Alongside traditional trusts and foundations, we are looking to expand our funding portfolio and are keen to explore new corporate partnerships and identify high net worth individuals. We recognise that success is not only achieving a fundraising target, but also about building new, strategic relationships. In this role, we will provide the space for the post holder to cultivate, prospect and steward new and existing funders.
