Legal Aid is a lifeline to many people who need legal advice but can’t afford a lawyer. This vital role will manage the billing and related administration of our Legal Aid Contracts in Housing Law, Family Law, and our Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service (HLPAS). The role will primarily focus on:-

• Managing the billing process for our Legal Aid contracts.
• Preparing case files for licensed work and inter partes billing
• Liaising with cost lawyers to ensure prompt preparation of licensed work billing & inter partes bills
• Facilitating the costs recovery process where costs have been awarded
• Preparing and submitting LAA returns for controlled work – Legal Help, HLPAS In Court Duty Scheme, HLPAS Early Legal advice and escape fee cases.

You will come with experience of preparing and processing legal aid billing and private billing; experience of using the Legal Aid Agency portal; excellent skills in IT; strong interpersonal skills and an ordered approach to your work.

OUTLINE OF THE ROLE

Work with the Trustees to devise and lead new fundraising initiatives that fulfil the objectives of the Trust's Fundraising Strategy and annual income budget, with particular focus on regular giving across all alumni, gifts from high-net-worth individuals, and legacies. This will involve:

• Developing and delivering improved communications to build a stronger connected donor network.

• Locating, engaging and retaining alumni to support and promote the Trust, focused on ensuring their long-term impact on the Trust and its beneficiaries.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to devise and implement new fundraising initiatives.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to identify and engage new volunteers to support the Trust's activities.

KEY TASKS

Work with the Trustees and Fundraising Committee to devise and implement the following:

• Improve communications

The Trust has a strong, growing, and engaged network of loyal alumni who already support the Trust's beneficiaries through fundraising and volunteering. However, the Trust's communications need to be improved in order to increase the numbers of donors who provide sustained financial support and inspire all donors to raise their level of donations. Continually find opportunities to engage new donors and ensure clear consistent messaging.

• Manage and maintain donor data

The Trust needs to maintain a full and accurate database of all donors and fundraising activities to support long-term tracking and inform future fundraising. This also requires networking among alumni and being vigilant to changes in alumni data.

• Research and approach alumni whose connection with the Trust has lapsed

Continue to grow the active network through researching and motivating dormant and lapsed alumni to reconnect with the Trust.

• Research untapped prospects

Research the database with a view to identifying dormant and untapped opportunities, especially regarding

high-net-worth individuals and legacies. Ensure fundraising approaches are well-targeted and informed in order to maximise the chances of success. This will expand to include non-alumni sources, including institutional sources such as foundations and other trusts.

• Ensure long-term donor connection

Communicate with all donors to demonstrate the impact they can make by showcasing the current and long-term outcome of programs. Deliver a diverse selection of communications to engage different audiences, with a clear plan for all members of the network. Ensure donors are connected to the Trust, value the Trust's activities and actively help fund opportunities.

• Reporting to the Trustees

Create an annual donor impact report to the Trustees, and other stakeholders such as alumni, that delineates donor statistics, reviews communications and events that have taken place during the past year and identifies potential prospects and events for developing in the coming year. Also provide a lower-level oral report of fundraising activities and communications to the Trustees at their quarterly meetings.

• Deliver income growth target

Acquire enough new donations to meet agreed annual income growth targets set by the Trustees.

You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the charity and its overall objectives. For instance, organizing fund-raising specific events in different regions. This position could evolve into a full-time commitment with a support team, but at the present time, support to this role will be provided through the existing network of volunteers.

Home based role and living within the relevant region or close enough proximity to be able to travel and meet the requirements of this role’ (subject to meeting homeworking assessment requirements, which includes a minimum broadband speed of 18Mbps). 

In this new but key role you will be responsible for assisting the Senior Negotiating Officer to manage and support our stewards, safety and equality representative networks across Yorkshire and Humber region, advising them in providing individual and collective industrial relations support to members, working both in and outside of the NHS. You will also be expected to spend approximately 25% of your time, managing cases from across the UK, but predominantly from nearby regions.

The postholder will work in collaboration with other health trade unions across the region.

You will work with the CSP regional team to recruit and organise members, influence on local workforce issues and promote physiotherapy.

You will provide representation for members at disciplinary hearings, grievances and disputes with employers, and provide general advice and information to representatives and members on issues such as pay, terms and conditions, and employment legislation.

Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Lead, you will support the protection and resilience of our digital systems, contributing to the monitoring of threats and enhancing our proactive response to the evolving cybersecurity landscape.

You’ll be joining a collaborative Infrastructure Team that includes a Senior Network Analyst and a Server & Cloud Engineer, working alongside our first and second-line Service Desk support team of five.

Main responsibilities

• Investigating and managing security incidents and supporting ongoing threat monitoring
• Promoting good security practices and behaviours across the organisation
• Supporting the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and procedures
• Assisting with incident response and coordination with external cybersecurity partners
• Staying informed on emerging threats and sharing insights with the wider team
• Maintaining security tools and infrastructure in collaboration with other IT teams
• Helping to deliver engaging security awareness training for colleagues across the organisation

What We’re Looking For:

• A strong interest in cybersecurity and a willingness to keep learning
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, operating systems, and networking basics
• Experience with security tools and best practices is a plus
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a supportive team
• A relevant qualification in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related area

Our partner is a global charity, are seeking to recruit an International Project Accountant This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to join a close-knit, collaborative team, with the role having a strong focus on finance business partnering and programme delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and strengthening financial systems, procedures and controls on grant management and compliance, regularly reviewing and updating these; and training staff as required
• Monitoring programmatic activity and spend, and maintaining the grants management tracker tool.
• Preparing financial information for internal reporting, and assisting in the  preparation of the programmes finance elements on statutory financial statements
• Overseeing the financial administration of programmes grants. This includes reviewing concept notes and proposals, preparing donor and sub-grant agreements, setting up grant codes, and preparing donor reports.
• Supporting on budget proposal development and refinement for new grant proposals; and ensuring that donor and the foundation rules on accounting, procurement and project implementation are adhered to.
• Supporting in reviewing and approving due diligence assessments on potential partners, and carrying out monitoring visits and audits of projects.
• Supporting in the preparation of and implementing the recommendations of donor grant audits.
• Undertake overseas travel (around 2-3 trips a year)

Person Specification

• Accountant with at least 3 years of experience in programmes financial accounting & reporting; developing and managing administrative systems; and budgeting, forecasting and cashflow monitoring.
• Ideally, experience of institutional grant budget proposal development, compliance, monitoring and reporting; this includes experience in managing FCDO, EU, ECHO, German government, Swedish government, and USAID funding.
• Excellent numeracy & financial analysis skills
• Intermediate/advanced knowledge of MSOffice, especially MSExcel
• Excellent command of the English language, both in a written and oral capacity.
• Strong business partnering skills, including experience of working with field staff in an INGO setting.

What will I be doing?

• Distributing and scanning of daily incoming post to relevant staff members 

• Creating and allocating new Legacy cases to the Legacy Case Management Team 

• Creating new solicitor records on the website and CRM system, and informing Finance Team 

• Reconciling and inputting income data (cheques and bank transfers) received by the Legacy team

• Responding to queries from all Legacy audiences, via email and telephone 

• Maintain data quality - merging records and other data processing tasks as required (First Class and Siebel) 

• Raising Purchase Orders and raising invoices when required 

• Building and maintaining excellent knowledge of Cancer Research UK's Will-Writing Services, Case Administration and associated systems and processes 

• Supporting project work relating to Legacy operations, by sharing knowledge of internal processes  

• Responsible for monitoring and ordering materials, maintaining and tracking stock levels as required, ensuring key internal stakeholders are informed.
