About you

We are looking for a proactive and visible finance professional who is able to engage and build relationships across the organisation as a pivotal member within a values-led high performing organisation. You will be a qualified accountant with proven track record of financial management awareness and a solid understanding of charity audits and statutory accounts preparation. You will have the ability to work with staff across the organisation in supporting good financial governance and oversight of financial operational matters. You will have the ability to analyse financial information and present this in a suitable format for the audience. You will have good ability to meet deadlines, be IT literate with an emphasis on financial systems, spreadsheets, Quickbooks and Excel. You will be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and be able to work with minimum supervision.

About the role

The role will involve the management of the day-to-day financial activities, VAT, gift aid, payroll and the monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and statutory accounts preparation. The job holder will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Finance Officer and volunteers within the team. There will be a requirement to work closely with the income generating staff, budget holders, auditors, banks and credit card providers on a regular basis. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the Finance Officer and Finance volunteer.

Practice Development Officer

The Role

The organisation supports local areas to use evidence to improve their services and outcomes for children and families. The Practice Development Officer will be part of a team who work with local leaders to support their decision making about how to increase the availability of services and approaches which have evidence of improving child outcomes.

As Practice Development Officer, you will support work that helps local services for children and families use evidence more effectively across Family Hubs, Family Help, and statutory social work. You will contribute to projects aligned with Foundations’ priority areas, including domestic abuse, supporting parenting, strengthening family networks and relationships for care experienced children. 

Your tasks will include organising and coordinating activities that support service improvement, designing and delivering learning sessions to build skills and confidence in using evidence, supporting the generation of new evidence to understand what works, and working with national organisations to promote the wider use of evidence in practice.

About You

We are looking for someone with an in-depth understanding of UK policy, legislation and practice relating to children’s services, including how this responds to the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.

You will have experience of:

• Practice in children’s social work and/or early intervention services
• Co-ordinating projects for service improvement or practice development in a relevant sector, for example local authority children’s services, health, or NHS
• Translating complex information into practical messages, advice, and tools.

The Events team sit within the wider Insight & Strategic Development team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK).  The purpose of the Insight and Strategic Development team is to deliver both long term and tactical insight that is grounded in a deep understanding of our audiences. The Events team lead on the development and delivery of a wide range of events that stretch across the whole organisation. The key aims of the team are to ensure a consistent, professional, and highly engaging supporter experience whether through direct delivery or through consultation with teams looking to deliver events on their own.

The Events Officer will work closely with the Events Manager in the development and delivery of a first-class events programme for Alzheimer’s Research UK, ensuring a consistent, professional, and highly engaging supporter experience. This role involves management of events, as well as supporting other teams across the organisation on their events scoping, planning and delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the development, management, delivery and evaluation of events within the Events Calendar, including meetings, dinners, receptions, webinars and other events as required.

· Support in management and delivery of events managed by other members of Events team as required.

· Work alongside the Events Manager and the conference working group on developing, management and delivering of the Research Conference.

· Work alongside the Events Executive to ensure the Events inbox is utilised and RSVPs are responded to in a timely manner

· Responsible for team use of the databases including Salesforce and EventsAir, by monitoring and reporting on events activity

· Undertake any other relevant duties and projects delegated by the Events Manager and Senior Events Officer in line with the responsibilities of the post

· To brief the senior leadership team, scientists, clinicians, speakers, staff and volunteers ahead of each event

· Regular attendance at events; this will include some travel and work outside of ordinary working hours

 

What we are looking for:

· Experience in the events industry, both online and in-person

· Planning and delivery of online events via Zoom, Teams or similar.

· Confident working with computers, extensive knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook

· Co-ordinating projects or events, particularly large-scale events of 200+ attendees.

· Delivering activity against and monitoring a budget.

· Excellent project management skills

· Ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple tasks.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; with a natural ability to articulate ideas, problems and solutions

Additional Information:

Who We Are

 Our charity was established in 1992, to provide care and support to people in Sussex, living with and affected by HIV. Over the past three decades there have been huge advances in treatment and care for those affected by the virus. People taking effective anti-retroviral medication (ART’s) can live long lives, with HIV becoming undetectable and untransmittable.

Whilst people who are living with HIV can live longer, many develop other physical co-morbidities as they age and many experience social and self-stigma. Our service users are often from marginalised groups, who often experience inter-sectional discrimination and health inequalities. Many of our service users experience socio-economic disadvantage and have multiple and complex needs.

The Sussex Beacon offers a range of services to people who have been living with HIV for decades through to those who are newly diagnosed.  Our services include:

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on all aspects of mass participation fundraising events, from recruitment and engagement of participants to event-day logistics and post-event stewardship.
• Develop and implement creative campaigns to maximise participant sign-ups, fundraising income, and supporter retention.

Around 200,000 Ukrainians have arrived in the UK since Ukraine was invaded in early 2022. Settled's Ukraine Advice Service is at the forefront of providing expert immigration advice on Ukraine visa schemes and related matters. This post will bring much needed additional capacity to a small, very busy team. In this post you will use your expertise to respond promptly and compassionately to Ukrainian citizens pre- and post-arrival in the UK and their family members; providing free, high-quality, responsive information, advice and support services in relevant languages to secure their right to remain in the UK. • Establishing a robust process for researching and identifying suitable funders.
