Voluntary
Job description

As an Office Volunteer at Prostate Cancer UK, you’ll play a key role in helping us to achieve our mission: ensuring that no man dies of prostate cancer. You’ll provide support on a variety of non-time-sensitive tasks, helping the Volunteer Experience Team to work more efficiently and effectively so we can make an even bigger difference.

In return, you’ll be welcomed into a friendly, collaborative environment as a valued member of the team. You’ll have opportunities to build your skills and gain hands-on experience, deepening your understanding of the charity sector and seeing first-hand how your efforts support lifechanging work.

IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL...

  • Help to keep workflows running smoothly by completing a variety of administrative tasks.
  • Support with project coordination and day-to-day operations.
  • Work alongside staff, volunteers, and external partners to deliver organisational goals.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and productive working environment.
  • Share your knowledge and experience to strengthen our ways of working.
  • Help us handle information sensitively, in line with data protection principles.

AS A PROSTATE CANCER UK VOLUNTEER YOU’LL...

  • Be a valued part of our community, helping us achieve our vision of a future where no man dies of prostate cancer.
  • Represent Prostate Cancer UK with empathy, respect, and integrity.
  • Embrace and promote our values and behaviours and follow our policies and processes.
  • Actively support our commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism – helping us create safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone we work with.
  • Always have a named person for contact and support.
  • Receive an induction and training appropriate to your role.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR…

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised and detail oriented.
  • Confident working both independently and in a team.
  • Comfortable using IT systems, especially Microsoft Office or a similar platform.
  • Friendly and able to build positive relationships with a variety of people.
  • Willing to learn new skills and open to feedback.
  • Passionate about Prostate Cancer UK, men’s health, or the third sector.

Previous admin or office experience is welcome but not essential – we will provide you with all necessary training and support.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN...

  • The chance to make a real difference to those affected by prostate cancer.
  • Valuable experience of working in a national charity and central-London office.
  • A warm, inclusive, and supportive community where you’ll be valued.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and confidence.
  • Access to training and resources to help you in your role.
  • Ongoing support and regular check-ins from the Volunteer Experience Team.
  • Invitations to volunteer webinars, panel discussions, and charity events.

YOUR VOLUNTEERING COMMITMENT

This is a voluntary and flexible role.

We ask for a time commitment of around two days per month in-person, depending on your availability.

After you’ve settled in, some working from home may be available.

Your main contact: Dean Fishburn, Volunteer Experience Officer

Location: Prostate Cancer UK London Bridge Office

Expenses: We’ll reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses in line with our policy.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

  • We will make volunteering opportunities accessible and flexible
  • We will be aware of barriers to volunteering
  • We will recognise not all volunteers are the same
  • We will actively listen and not make assumptions
