This is a key role working alongside our Senior Programme Manager and Senior Race Equity Specialist to shape our ways of working, to enable more and more ethnic diverse people to act for nature.

You will have 2 main areas of responsibility:

1. Supporting senior leaders, Achieving Race Equity taskforce members and the programme team, including coordinating tailored guidance, projects, activities and events, that drive and embed race equity initiatives across the RSPB. This will mean working closely with other parts of the organisation to understand their needs and skills gaps and developing solutions together that meet those needs. This role will act as the first point of contact for all matters concerning support for the taskforce
2. Lead on a ‘Principle Workstream’ within the Achieving Race Equity Programme and take responsibility for ensuring that projects and initiatives within key areas meet the objectives and are coordinated effectively.

This role will play an active role in communicating and engaging with stakeholders and senior management at different levels.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Demonstrated experience in driving coordinating and synchronising anti-racist/EDI change and trauma informed wellbeing initiatives with dispersed teams, in complex settings. This should include training and facilitation skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence at all levels of the organisation.
• Deep understanding of achieving race equity, intersectionality, and the impact of discrimination in the workplace. Familiarity with the Equality Act 2010 and best practices in race equity work, preferably within the conservation or related sector.
• Proven track record in coordinating multiple projects, activities, and events, managing resources, including financial, logistical support for group operations such as travel and accommodation, while delivering clear, engaging communications.
• Strong experience in creating accessible content across various formats (written, visual, digital) that engages diverse audiences around race equity issues with the ability to move people to action.
• Experience in working with and influencing senior stakeholders and effectively communicating change across the organisation.

The Role

The Early Learning and Childcare Advisor supports the organisations contribution to policy development and guidance on the delivery of early learning and childcare. Job Purpose

As a Night Shelter Manager, you’ll be the lead staff member for your shift, overseeing the safe and smooth running of one of Glass Door’s seasonal night shelters between November and April. 

You’ll work alongside Overnight Homeless Shelter Workers and volunteers on your shift to make sure the shelter is a welcoming, safe, and respectful place for up to 35 guests. Your role is to set the tone for the night: briefing the team before opening, welcoming and inducting new guests, explaining our shelter guidelines, and ensuring everyone knows their responsibilities. You’ll be the first point of contact for any issues during your shift, whether that’s supporting someone in distress, addressing concerns or responding to challenging behaviour. 

You’ll also ensure shelter procedures are followed, keep accurate records of attendance and incidents, and maintain clear communication with the casework team so they can follow up with guests. Alongside leading operations, you’ll actively work with guests, volunteers, and colleagues to create a friendly and supportive environment where everyone is treated with dignity. 

This role is ideal for someone who can remain calm under pressure, lead a small team confidently, and is committed to supporting people as they work towards ending their homelessness; all while making sure the night shelter runs smoothly from start to finish. 

Job Description 

As the lead staff member for your shift, you’ll be responsible for the smooth and safe running of the shelter during your working hours. You’ll work closely with Overnight Homeless Shelter Workers and volunteers, setting the tone for the night and making sure everything runs to plan.

What will I be doing?

• Supporting the annual marketing planning process in setting overarching marketing objectives, key Performance Indicators, forecasts and budgets; translating these into an all-channel cross-portfolio marketing plan

• Consulting with agencies and internal teams on paid marketing campaigns and activity to ensure optimal strategic alignment and fully integrated campaign planning across, audiences, channels and products

• Working closely with the Commercial and Operations function to support the end-to-end marketing workflow including and managing key stakeholder and agency/supplier relationships

• Working closely with the Marketing performance team and wider marketing teams to gather actionable insight and learnings from past campaigns

• Analysing campaign results, evaluating performance against targets while spotting opportunities to optimise activity, innovate and increase efficiency

• Taking a future-facing view of marketing trends and developments as well as competitor activity, the consumer landscape and data insight to ensure Cancer Research UK's marketing and communications stay ahead of the curve and are data and insight driven.

What skills are we looking for?

• Strong understanding of paid media channels; Audio Visual, Out Of Home, Digital with a particular focus on Paid Search and the role of the different channels in integrated campaign planning. You will also have experience working in an Agency environment.

• Excellent project management and communication skills with experience of managing and improving priority workstreams involving multiple teams and stakeholders.

• Media planning expertise and experience delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns across a broad portfolio.

• Experience of leading communications to manage and motivate suppliers and agencies to drive maximum value from relationships.

• Relevant experience of building positive working relationships and influencing others and working effectively as part of a matrix team.

• Commercially aware with budget management experience.

Job Purpose

As a Night Shelter Manager, you’ll be the lead staff member for your shift, overseeing the safe and smooth running of one of Glass Door’s seasonal night shelters between November and April. 

You’ll work alongside Overnight Homeless Shelter Workers and volunteers on your shift to make sure the shelter is a welcoming, safe, and respectful place for up to 35 guests. Your role is to set the tone for the night: briefing the team before opening, welcoming and inducting new guests, explaining our shelter guidelines, and ensuring everyone knows their responsibilities. You’ll be the first point of contact for any issues during your shift, whether that’s supporting someone in distress, addressing concerns or responding to challenging behaviour.
