About the organisation

The organisation is a small, thriving national charity supporting people in rural areas to set up and run successful businesses in community ownership. They do this to achieve their UK-wide vision for resilient, thriving and inclusive rural communities. The charity is based in Oxfordshire with around 25 staff and a turnover of around £1.2 million annually.

Community-owned businesses are owned and controlled by community members and range from village shops, pubs and cafes, through to woodlands, fisheries and farms. The charity has been promoting the community ownership model for over 100 years because of its track record for delivering better businesses for people, communities, the economy, and the environment.

The charity is in a sound financial position with strong reserves. The focus moving forward is to diversify income streams away from the traditional model of grants, trusts and foundations to increased self-generated income from projects, corporate sponsorship and placemaking initiatives with housing organisations. 

The new Head of Finance will be joining the organisation at an exciting time as they progress on this journey.

About the role

Reporting to the COO and managing 1 Finance Officer, The Head of Finance is the lead staff member for all matters relating to the Finance Team and is responsible for all areas of its strategic management and day-to-day operations. The Head of Finance makes up part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Typical finance duties include the development and implementation of finance strategies and policies, the production of financial reports and management accounts, leading on the budgeting & forecasting process, leading on the production of the annual statutory accounts, and supporting the Finance Officer with all elements of transactional finance such as reconciliations & VAT.

The Head of Finance will also take an active role on the Senior Leadership Team including contributing to business plans, networking with partner organisations and contributing to the continued strategy to diversify the charity’s income.

The charity uses Xero accounting software and has a December financial year-end. There is a current interim Head of Finance in post, and a handover with this person is likely. 

The role would suit an experienced charity sector Head of Finance, seeking to work on a part-time basis. The role will be offered on a 3 day per week basis, and is a fully office based role, in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. In exceptional circumstances it may be possible to consider 2 days in the office with 1 day working from home, however the preference is for 3 days onsite. 

The salary offered is £60,000 - £66,000 per annum FTE (pro-rata) and benefits include flexible working, an employee benefits programme, training opportunities, 6% employer pension contribution and a generous holiday entitlement of 27 days plus bank holidays (pro-rated for part-time staff). 

Requirements

• Qualified or near qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA or equivalent 

• A strong understanding of UK charity accounting including fund accounting and SORP

• Prior experience managing the finances of a small to medium sized charity, and management of a finance team

• A proactive attitude and the ability to ‘muck in’ with a broad range of duties sometimes outside the scope of the role

• Excellent analytical skills, ability to identify financial trends and create a supportive narrative

• Experience with Xero and Salesforce would be advantageous

The Festivals & Events Producer curates and executes a range of Symphony experiences—from intimate worship nights to large-scale gatherings like “Tribe: Festival of Hope.” You’ll balance creative vision with logistical precision to produce memorable events that highlight the talents of Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ communities.

> Key Responsibilities

• Event Curation & Production

About the Bloom Service

Barnardo's Swansea Bloom Service works directly with care experienced young people to help improve their emotional wellbeing, resilience and self confidence. Our aim is to create a positive space for them to explore their identity, passions, and potential. The support on offer includes  the opportunity to take part in amazing activities, life coaching, befriending and peer mentoring.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Barnardo's as a Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring Co-ordinator (Project Worker 2).

The contract is for 25 hours a week to cover the maternity leave of the substantive post holder until 31st March 2025.

Bloom is a growing service offering a unique opportunity for the right person to develop, co-ordinate and deliver our Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring work using established and innovative approaches. The Co-ordinator will be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of volunteers, befrienders and peer mentors who will help young people to improve their physical and mental well-being by supporting them to access a range of exciting activities, helping them to find new interests and hobbies and engage in healthy activities in the community

You will undertake the role of Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring Co-ordinator reporting to the Children's Service Manager and acting as line manager to the service's volunteers.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following duties (in addition to those on the generic job description):- 

• Continued development and delivery of the Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring element of the Bloom service.
• Recruit and train volunteers, befrienders and peer mentors
• Effectively match volunteers/befrienders/peer mentors to support young people
• Effectively utilise the Barnardo's specialist volunteer management system (Vol 1)
• Provide ongoing support and supervision of volunteers
• Keep accurate statistical information and assist in producing service performance reports for the organisation and funders.
• Support project engagement events and empower young people to share their voice and ensure that Bloom continues to be a young person led project
• Assist in quality assurance of every aspect of the service
• The service requires flexibility of work as we support young people around their needs.

You will have: 

• Experience of working within a volunteering setting preferably at the level of co-ordinating the service this can be in a employment, education, training or volunteering setting
• Experience of recruiting, inducting and retaining volunteers
• Experience of keeping statistical information and completing performance reports for funders
• The ability to line manage  volunteers
• An understanding of the needs of care experienced/vulnerable young people and an awareness of the factors impacting on their lives

Bloom is made up of three elements all of which work together:

Life Coaching - there is a dedicated life coach

Giving young people the power to unlock their own potential for positive change, by providing them with the tools to build resilience, improve wellbeing and understand themselves better. Coaching empowers young people to think about and move forward positively in their lives, by creating and working towards specific goals through 1:1 sessions with our life coach. 

Volunteer, befriending and peer mentoring - there is a dedicated volunteer coordinator

• Volunteers – to help with activities
• Befriending - members of the local community befriend and provide ongoing assistance to service users are moving to independence
• Peer mentors – care experienced adults who can offer invaluable guidance to care experienced young people by drawing on their own experiences

Activities there are 2 engagement workers 

Giving young people regular opportunities to get together to experience activities not easily accessed by care experienced young people. Led by the expressed wishes of young people they could be experiences such as sports, adventuring, outdoor events, gardening clubs, cooking clubs.

DFN Project SEARCH offer an evidence-based supported internship model which takes place entirely in the workplace.  The programmes provide continuous support to young adults with a learning disability, and autistic people who are aged between 16 – 24 with an Education Health and Care Plan, or equivalent, in their final year of education.

The Manna Day Centre is a drop-in Centre for homeless and vulnerably housed single men and women. It is run by a team of project workers, under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. The Senior Housing & Welfare Advice Worker must have a commitment to homeless people, which includes acceptance and respect. Responsibilities are shared among the team according to needs, skills and aptitudes. The annual salary is negotiable (depending on your experience) ranging from £33,775 to £41,359. We’re looking for a capable and caring person to join Lancashire Mind’s existing Housing Team. Under the direction of the Housing Operations Lead, you will manage a caseload of tenants with enduring mental health conditions living in properties that are managed by Lancashire Mind.

Via home visits, you will work with each tenant to agree a support plan to enable them to maintain their tenancy and move towards independent living.

You will build strong working relationships with local services to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting tenants, whilst at the same time developing and maintaining good working relationships with other local services and organisations that provide support services to tenants. 

You will complete and update records of interactions with tenants on the internal database and input data accurately onto monitoring spreadsheets. 

Experience of delivering a housing/tenancy management service, including arrears management, tenancy management (help with budgeting, managing bills and claiming the correct benefits), antisocial behaviour, safeguarding, repairs and health and safety, would be beneficial, but is not essential.

To succeed in the role, you will need excellent communication skills, be IT literate, and able to establish relationships based on trust with different people.

• Build strong, internal relationships with stakeholders across Sue Ryder.
• Support the smooth running of the team administration.

About you:
Essential
• Experience of managing and delivering marketing campaigns on time and on budget
• Experience of managing and developing creative assets which are relevant and impactful to the specific audience.
• Experience of working with creative and print agencies.
• Excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with internal colleagues within the wider marketing and communications department such as PR and digital to ensure integrated working
• Keen attention to detail
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, able to work at pace across a range of projects

Desirable
• Relevant experience working in a charity or agency environment

For over 60 years the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) has been building a better childhood for all.

NCB have worked with and for the PHA and other key stakeholders in Northern Ireland for over 10 years to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.  As part of our contract with PHA we have supported the development of the Infant Mental Health Framework, the effective implementation of evidence-based programmes for children and families, and the emerging policy and practice space for early years and family support.

This role will work closely with the NI Programme Manager to coordinate project activities and provide high-level project support primarily for the work of the Early Childhood Unit in Northern Ireland. The post holder will also be responsible for coordination of the organisation-wide NI Community of Practice and will provide essential administrative and coordination support to the NI Director and Assistant Director on maintaining and growing our stakeholder engagement efforts in NI.
