The successful candidate will bring proven experience as an Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant at a senior level, ideally within a charity, membership, or professional body. You will be highly organised and proactive, comfortable juggling multiple priorities, and confident in building relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, alongside the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and the wider Microsoft 365 suite is expected, and you will be adept at drafting reports, formal minutes, and correspondence to a high standard.

Above all, this role calls for someone who can balance meticulous attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture. You will be solutions-focused, resilient under pressure, and motivated by continuous improvement.

The Diocese of Arundel & Brighton is a registered charity with care of 250 staff, 180 members of clergy, and many hundreds of volunteers. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful applicant will oversee a finance team of 5, including a qualified management accountant and two colleagues engaged in studies.

The finance team supports cloud-based accounting for 80 parishes; overseeing a significant number of transactions, submitting the monthly payroll to the outsourced payroll bureau, and providing the finance function for central operations based at The St Philip Howard Centre in Crawley.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for ;

• Producing statutory audited accounts and acting as the principal contact for external auditors.
• Report on finance matters to the quarterly Diocesan Finance Committee (DFC)
• Oversee the finance team in delivering the budget process and production of quarterly cashflow and budget forecasts, leading on tax compliance, VAT (for one subsidiary), and Gift Aid.

About Children Not Numbers

The conflict in Gaza has left thousands of children in urgent need of medical care, trauma support, and long-term assistance. Children Not Numbers is a grassroots UK-based charity committed to the health, safety, education, and wellbeing of Gaza’s children.

Children Not Numbers was established in early 2024 to address the urgent need to support Palestinian children caught up amid an unprecedented conflict. Within 18 months, we have grown rapidly into a global network of c.200 staff and volunteers, most of whom are volunteer paediatric medics representing more than 30 subspecialties.

Our work includes:

• Emergency medical aid for sick and injured children in Gaza, delivered through collaboration between local staff and an international network of volunteer medics

• Short-term medical evacuation for urgent and complex cases – more than 230 children have been safely evacuated to date

• Rehabilitation and trauma support for children with life-changing injuries and extreme psychological trauma

• Maternal Support Programme – over 500 women supported across 1,100+ appointments

External Relations and Admin Officer

This is a key role in the Freedom Fund’s External Relations team, which encompasses both Strategic Partnerships and Communications. The Drive Partnership, formed by Respect, SafeLives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. We work to end domestic abuse and protect victims by disrupting, challenging, and changing the behaviour of those who are causing harm. Together we have developed the Drive Project to address a gap in work with high-harm, high-risk perpetrators of domestic abuse. We also work to advocate for systems and policy change- to develop sustainable, national systems that respond more effectively to all perpetrators of domestic abuse. 

In July of this year the Home Office announced a £53m investment over the next four years to enable the Drive Project to roll out across England and Wales. To end domestic abuse, we must address the source of the problem – the perpetrator.  This funding will make a huge difference to our efforts to support survivors, by holding perpetrators to account, stopping them from causing further harm and giving them the chance to change.

The Drive Head of Operations will play a central role in maintaining strategic oversight of internal operations, including project planning and risk management across workstreams, and partner coordination across the Drive Partnership. This is a senior leadership position providing operational leadership, staff management, and cross-partner coordination to ensure workstreams within the Drive Partnership function effectively, efficiently and in in alignment with the Drive Partnership’s core mission.

The Supporter Retention Manager will be responsible for designing and delivering strategies that build supporter loyalty, increase lifetime value, and enhance the overall supporter experience. · An experienced child health, education or social care professional - applications will be particularly welcome from those who have worked in a community environment and those with a recognised qualification in education, health or social care
