About the role

At Breast Cancer Now, we’re seeking a Senior Press & PR Officer to join our ambitious press, PR & celebrity team for 12 months. The role is focused primarily on the charity’s Fundraising portfolio, including our corporate partnerships and high-value fundraising events, all of which raise vital funds that help the charity to deliver world-class research and provide life-changing support for anyone affected by breast cancer.

About you

As an excellent communicator, you’ll be great at building trusted and influential relationships across a range of stakeholders including colleagues, journalists, external partners and advocates and ambassadors of Breast Cancer Now. This will help you bring our work to life, working collaboratively and effectively and at pace.

With significant experience in developing and delivering impactful PR campaigns, either in-house or in an agency, you’ll tell powerful stories around our fundraising activity to achieve cut-through in the media and drive further engagement and support (including financial) from our key audiences.

Always putting the patient voice at the heart of our work, you’ll be innovative and creative in your approach to secure maximum profile for annual events and campaigns, building on previous years’ successes and bringing fresh angles to this work to maximise engagement with the media and key audiences.

Job Title:  Finance Officer

Principal Location:London, hybrid with a minimum of 3 and an expectation of 4 days in the office per week.

Part 1:  Role Purpose:

This role is a key member of the busy HQ finance function. Although the role is primarily focused on the HQ finances, the role operates within the context of Street Child as a global charity and so also has interaction with the global finance team. The role offers the chance to work across a number of finance functions, and some of the subsidiary charities. It is essential that the applicant can juggle the complexities of a busy role with has varied work priorities. Key stakeholders are the HQ Finance Manager, Finance Director and the HQ based fundraising team. The role works alongside the Finance Assistant and plays a role in oversight and coaching of this role.

Part 2:  Key Responsibilities:

1) (40%) Deliver all functions related to Accounts Receivable

• Ensure that all income from a variety of different sources is correctly and accurately recorded in the finance system and CRM (which is under development) on a weekly basis.
• Supporting with work on accounts receivable including accessing, downloading and saving in a systematic manner reports from donor portals, bank account and other sources.
• Working with colleagues in Fundraising to analyse and code income reports in Excel and uploading it to the Finance system on a timely basis, at least weekly.  Following up on how to code any income which is not allocated to a source.
• Working closely with colleagues in Fundraising to ensure prompt collection of outstanding balances from customers, and sending out monthly debtor balance statements. 
• Raising donor invoices and requests for payments, and issuing donor receipts.
• Income and customer account reconciliations and revaluations.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Receivable.

2) (20%) Lead the Accounts Payable process

• Whilst the Finance Assistant is responsible for all payments, the Finance Officer has a lead role in ensuring that all invoices are paid on time, in an efficient manner and that the finance system reflects the transactions within the correct accounting period and correctly coded in the system – including account code, cost centre, project code and donor code.
• Determine most efficient payment platform to process international payments, and ensure that recorded in the finance system at the correct conversion rate.
• Be a point of contact with the Foreign exchange agents to quickly resolve any questions.
• Work with the Finance Assistant to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure in the accounting system and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Managing at least two payment runs a week and additional runs as required; ensuring that all invoices for payment are correctly approved by the budget holder, setting up payments on online banking platforms and sending out requests for payment approvals to payment authorisers and verifying that all payments are fully approved in the banking platforms by the deadline set.
• Once the payment is made, allocating the payment against the invoices in the Finance system.
• Reviewing staff expense claims to ensure that all supporting documentation is provided before payment.
• Managing monthly staff credit card reconciliations and ensure that these are returned on time with all receipts and invoices and checking and reviewing classifications, with follow up as required.
• Carry out monthly Creditor account reconciliations ensuring that all balances are valid and backed up with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Fully deliver the set up all payroll payments in time for the monthly pay day.  This involves ensuring correct amount and currency of payment (which may differ from the salary of the individual’s employment contract) and method of payment across all HQ staff.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Payable.

3) (40%) Month end reporting and reconciliation and subsidiary accounts

• Complete all balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and petty cash reconciliations and submit for approval by HQ Finance Manager.
• Once CRM system is in place, undertake reconciliation processes between finance data and CRM data.
• Carry out monthly revaluations of bank accounts.
• Ensuring supporting information for transactions is correctly stored in electronic format on Teams such as bank statements, remittance advices, credit statements.
• Assist in preparation of internal reports, including working with Operations Department and Finance department to review their monthly reports.
• Take responsibility to deliver the management accounts of two subsidiary companies: Children in Crisis and HQ transactions of Africa Educational Trust.
• Compile information for Gift Aid returns.
• General support and assistance to the team including administrative duties and managing the office post.
• Other ad hoc support to the wider operations team as may be required.
• Audit: support with the year end audit and provision of supporting information to auditors.

Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity and works with thousands of schools and young people across the UK through its programmes.

Our Education Programmes are focused on engaging primary schools, secondary schools and sixth form colleges across the UK to take part in our programmes and ensure LGBT+ young people can thrive. About Furthering Talent

Furthering Talent helps musicians from the earliest stage in their musical journey. The programme is specifically designed to help young people from low income families sustain their musical learning after initial state-funded whole-class lessons end, so they can keep on progressing and playing music well into their teens and beyond. The programme aims to effect significant change in how the musical potential of young people from low-income families is identified and supported.

Place of work: Home-based and other locations as required. An ability to travel, often nationally, is essential to carry out this role. All reasonable travel expenses can be reclaimed.  

The role

You will be the first point of contact and support for the team of Connectors in your Hubs, attending Teachers’ Forums and Get Togethers where possible and helping with the coordination of data gathering and management. You will help drive the promotion of the Connector role and handle any incoming Connector enquiries via the Young Sounds website, allocating them to the appropriate Connector. You will oversee the mentoring and youth voice offer in each Hub. You will be a champion for Young Sounds’ musically inclusive approach throughout the sector and will support the promotion of Young Sounds’ CPD and learning resources, especially the Charanga hosted Individual Learning Plan.

Job purpose:

 The role has two distinct areas of responsibility:

  Provide administrative and logistical support for the smooth running of the London office (70%). Administrative assistance for the general operations of the Trustees, including coordination of Board meetings (30%), although this may vary on a day-to-day basis.

About the role

The London Library is planning a major, multi-year building project and is looking for a Senior Facilities Officer - Project Management to work within the Buildings and Facilities Management team to help support and deliver the project.

As part of a small, hands-on team, this new role will also support the Library’s maintenance and improvement programmes, arranging contractor works and providing liaison with colleagues across the Library. Duties and key responsibilities

Policy

• Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to support and deliver Sarcoma UK’s policy development.
• Support the development of evidence-based policy positions that are representative of the external healthcare environment, working alongside colleagues, clinical and healthcare professionals.
• Produce a range of high-quality, evidence-based documents including briefings, reports, and consultation responses.
• Support the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to respond to government and other sarcoma-focused or cancer consultations.
• Provide the Secretariat to Sarcoma UK’s Early Diagnosis Expert Steering Group and support their work to raise the profile of issues preventing early and accurate diagnosis of sarcoma.
• Work with other teams in the organisation to articulate and deliver communications for supporter audiences around policy work.

Public Affairs

• Develop relationships with key influencers, including parliamentarians, civil servants, the NHS and other stakeholders.
• Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Communications Team to shape campaigns which are evidence based and solution-focused.
• Organise events, meetings and briefings to ensure our policy messages are communicated to external stakeholders and influencers.
• Ensure our supporters are regularly updated about our public affairs and campaigning activity using communication channels and involve them where appropriate.
• To support the Communications Team to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of sarcoma, and to publicise the work of the charity.

External relationships

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with sarcoma clinicians and people personally affected by sarcoma, including members of Sarcoma UK’s Early Diagnosis Expert Steering Group.
• Represent Sarcoma UK at external Policy and Public Affairs events.

General

• Support the integration of the Policy and Public Affairs programme across the charity as a whole.
• Attend Sarcoma UK events and take part in Sarcoma UK’s wider work.
• The role will require occasional travel to meeting and events. Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.

Executive Director

We are seeking an experienced interim senior leader to join an Executive Team at an innovative arts centre in the heart of Deptford.

Position: Executive Director (interim)

Location: Deptford, Flexible working negotiable; minimum of 50% office-based working

Salary: £60k per annum, pro rata

Contract: Fixed Term for 7 months (Sep ‘24 - Mar ‘25, with potential to extend); flexible working offered, 3-4 days per week (mostly on-site, some remote working possible)

About the role:

As Executive Director you will be working for a thriving arts centre, which exists to inspire, develop and support creativity for the benefit of the community, encompassing the London Borough of Lewisham and beyond.  You will support a period of reshaping the business model and the transition from two outgoing senior posts to a team of three new department heads. You will bring new perspective and energy as well as solid understanding of the nuts and bolts of running a 21st arts organisation.

About you:

We are now looking for a confident leader to work alongside a team of experienced senior manager, you will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

• Substantial recent experience in a relevant senior management role
• Experience of management in a venue licensed for public entertainment, including demonstrable understanding of health and safety and facilities
• Experience of managing and developing staff and relationships
• High level organisational, IT and administrative skills
• Experience of project and overall budget management
• Experience of contracting and confidence to deal with legal components for personnel, services, artist/production contracts
• Personal licence or willingness to obtain one

Although not essential, a Health & Safety qualification or extensive knowledge of H&S would be highly desirable for this role.

Programme Officer

Are you an experienced Programme Officer? Can you keep a programme up to date supporting programme managers to deliver excellent outcomes for Children? Are you resourceful and able to work across multiple programmes keeping them up to date and providing accurate and on time reporting?

The Role:

As Programme Officer you will be pivotal in supporting the programmes from scoping to completion, providing expert support to Programme Managers in keeping programme plans, RAID logs and programme documentation up to date. We are looking for someone with experience of:

• Successfully supporting multiple work-streamed programmes, including budgets, planning, risk, stakeholders, and benefits management to achieve stated outcomes.
• Supporting benefits mapping and reporting.
• Supporting dependency management, updating programme plans, updating PIDs and supporting programme managers in Programme Boards.
• Strong interpersonal and administrative skills with the ability to engage and work as a team to deliver high quality outcomes.
