ParaPride is an empowerment charity that advocates for the visibility, education and awareness of LGBTQ+ disabled people. We are a non-profit grassroots organisation focusing on the intersection of disability and LGBTQ+. We're entirely run by volunteers and our lived experiences stand at the core of our charity values.

We endeavour to meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities through a variety of complementary activities including:

• Creating education and awareness around the need for greater visibility of the communities we serve within the wider LGBTQ+ and disabled communities;

• Creating and promoting online and offline activities and events to foster understanding of the experience of being LGBTQ+ and disabled people and to bring the communities we serve together;

• Working with other organisations to further educate and expose the wider public to the challenges faced by the communities we serve and opportunities that are presented when including them; and,

As a relatively new charity, we will be developing our approach over the next couple of years to further our charitable objects and to serve the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities in the most effective way.
 

About the role

After several years of relying on the efforts from our Co-Founders, Trustees and temporary volunteers we are looking to take the next step in our growth journey through the placement of our first volunteer recruiter.

This role will work closely with Daniele, ParaPride’s Co-founder and Community Engagement Director and the Board of Trustees to identify the skills and capacity required to run the organisation and sourcing candidates to meet them. It will also play a crucial role in developing Parapride’s volunteer benefits package and talent acquisition strategy. 

We are expecting that the roles that this role will be involved in hiring will initially be focused on supporting ParaPride’s core operations (marketing, events and web development) but could include placements in finance, legal, compliance and HR in the future. 
 

Duties

• Collaborate with ParaPride’s Co-founder and Board of Trustees to identify and prioritise required skills to run the organisation effectively.

• Develop a strategy for acquiring talent that is inclusive and accessible such that our LGBTQ+ disabled community are given full opportunity to be able to be involved. Provide feedback on practices and policies to support this.

• Develop and review role descriptions for required roles and advertise across appropriate channels.

• Screen and shortlist candidates as appropriate, coordinate interview loops and manage candidate communications. 

• Carry out pre-volunteering checks, including references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate.

• Support volunteer onboarding by coordination the execution of volunteer agreements and creating onboarding plans.

• In partnership with marketing team members, develop content to share across web and social channels to promote benefits and opportunities for potential candidates to get involved.

• Support in the development of a benefits package to support in the acquisition of volunteers (non-salaried).

We expect that hiring this role will be a critical step in ParaPride’s development as being able to engage with people willing and able to support our cause is the only way for us to be able to grow our operations to provide better support for more LGBTQ+ disabled people and deliver more training and workshops to enable others to be become better allies.

We are looking for someone with 3+ years experience in recruitment (any field) . We also encourage students and graduates who can demonstrate strong alignment with our mission, vision and values.

We are a growing charity and while it is our goal to provide financial compensation for this role in the future, we are unable to initially. The Wren Project relies on dedicated volunteers to offer listening support to people living in distress as a result of an autoimmune disease diagnosis. As our volunteer, you would provide remote, one-to-one listening support to individuals living with the complexities of a diagnosis. As a volunteer, you would offer 1:1 listening support to those affected by auto-immune conditions. Here are the key details:

Role Description:

• Listening Support: Volunteers provide empathetic and non-judgmental listening support to people living with autoimmune diseases (referred to as “Our Wrens”). A volunteer's focus is on allowing Wrens to express their feelings without offering advice or solutions.

• Regular Sessions: You’ll participate in fortnightly 50-minute sessions with two separate Wrens via telephone or video call.

• Training and Assessment: After submitting an application, successful applicants undergo a 4-week remote training program focused on listening skills and supporting individuals with autoimmune diseases. A final one-to-one assessment ensures readiness before matching with a Wren.

• Ongoing Support: Volunteers receive ongoing support and the opportunity to continue to develop their listening skills from experienced volunteers, Operations team and clinical supervisors.

Requirements:

• No Prior Knowledge Needed: Volunteers do not need specific knowledge or experience related to autoimmune diseases.

• An empathetic and understanding attitude;

• A quiet and private space to conduct appointments;

• Access to a computer, telephone and a reliable internet connection;

• Confidentiality, professionalism and reliability;

• Monthly Commitment: Regular attendance (twice a month) is required for an  initial 12 month period.

• Skill-Building: Gain lifelong skills in deep listening and develop reflective skills by attending monthly reflective practice sessions

What difference will you make?

Our volunteers provide a space for those in distress with an autoimmune disease to feel heard. Through listening and reflecting with our Wrens, our volunteers can help Wrens to feel supported and less isolated.

The New Normal are seeking a Volunteer Co-Ordinator to join our team! The primary responsibilities of this role will be co-ordinating and supporting current Volunteers, as well as recruiting new Volunteers.  

We are looking for a motivated and empathetic person to support TNN in it's mission to provide free-to-access peer support for a diverse range of grief experiences, communities and identities.

Someone who will be an ambassador for Volunteering Matters, who can help us maximise the potential of our programmes and replicate these across the UK and who can help us to grow the organisation. As Chair, your commitment to Volunteering Matters will include chairing Council meetings (usually four a year), an annual trustee strategy session and the Annual General Meeting. We encourage all of our trustees to visit local operations and to meet volunteers and staff to build their understanding of our work and increase their visibility within the organisation. Purpose The role of the Chair is to provide leadership and constructive challenge to the whole Council of Trustees, the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership team.

Our network of committed local vegans across the country is growing! The Vegan Society organises various outreach activities to influence change in every level of society. There are a range of activities going on all the time, from general educational stalls at events to meeting with local policy influencers. 

What does the Organiser role involve? 

Every month, you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat.  

We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task. It's vital that we measure the impact that we are having, in terms of positive conversations and leaflets handed out. You can also give us ideas you have for future outreach tasks or campaigning. Many Organisers find a huge sense of satisfaction, improvement in self-esteem and enjoy the social side of volunteering in this role.  

You will also be responsible for welcoming new Advocates in your area. We will let you know when somebody new applies, and you will help them to get involved with any activities. As the main contact for Advocates, this role does require some awareness of safeguarding and data protection procedures and policy. You'll also be the health and safety contact for your group. There will be full training on your role in this, as well as a handbook and ongoing guidance and support. 

As an Organiser, you will ensure any resources or actions undertaken are in line with our branding and messaging guidelines and make sure that Advocates understand this too.

What training and support is available? 

There will be a full induction to the role, with a gradual introduction of new tasks and responsibilities. To start with, we will provide an initial training session to cover the basics of community organising, communication skills and event planning. This will be done remotely from wherever you are. Along with this, we will provide a full pack of resources that covers a range of work that we do. 

From there, there will be regular conversations and reviews, where we can discuss other training requirements. Staff are always available to Organisers for any questions, via phone or email.

How much time do I need to invest?

You should be able to commit around two days a month to carry out actions, and this is usually spread out across the month. We also expect timely responses to emails. When a new Advocate applies to work with you, we would like them to be contacted within seven days.

We are looking to appoint a volunteer Executive Officer who is committed to supporting the progress and efficiency of our organization. Working closely with the CEO the Executive Officer will carry out various taskings of high importance. The Executive Officer will also focus on directing change in areas of the organization to improve performance and increase productivity as required, further the Executive Officer will help draft general policies and assist in the operational functions of the organization as required. The Executive Officer’s role will be to ensure the organization is working effectively and progressing, and where necessary taking action to address issues or providing operational support where needed.

This role will report directly to the CEO and COO. 

Canterbury Food Bank, one of the largest charities of its kind in the UK, is recruiting new trustees.

The food bank was set up over a decade ago with an objective to end hunger and tackle poverty. 

We’ve made a start, but we’ve still got a long way to go.

Last year the charity provided enough food to make 132,000 meals for people in the district who are suffering financial hardship.

Trustees have overall control of the charity and are responsible for making sure it's doing what it was set up to do. They are volunteers and have board meetings once a month.

Previous trustee experience is not necessary. Lived experience of poverty, volunteering, community involvement and passion are as valued as work-based knowledge and skills

About the Role

Accountable to: Volunteer Development Team Lead

The purpose of your role is to support the development of Nightline Association volunteers throughout the volunteer journey. 

The Volunteer Development Team is responsible for guiding the development of the Nightline Association volunteer journey by creating effective and meaningful processes, promoting skill building and personal growth, and helping create a supportive community that recognises the contribution of volunteers. You will work closely with your team, the Volunteer Development Team Lead, as well as the Heads of Department, to ensure that volunteering is a beneficial and meaningful experience across the organisation.

Your line manager will be the Volunteer Development Team Lead. The Volunteer Development team sits within the Central Services department, led by the Head of Central Services. The Central Services department contains centralised functions, services, and operations that are used by the entire charity. 

Activities and Responsibilities

• Support on the Recruitment, Retention and Reflection Project

• Provide induction sessions for new volunteers to introduce them to the Nightline Association. 

• Develop or source onboarding and general line management guidance for volunteer line managers, providing them with the skills necessary to create a great volunteer experience for all. 

• Maintain a signposting database of external resources for volunteers. 

• Identify opportunities for volunteer skill building and/or training. 

• Lead in the development of volunteer recognition and reward practices, including day-to-day community building within the organisation.
