Job summary

It’s an exciting time to join Whizz Kidz as we embark on an ambitious organisational strategy for the next three years. Major Gifts fundraising is relatively new to the charity and has seen great success in the last year, bringing on many new major donors and a growing prospect pipeline.  This new role will work closely with the Head of Major Gifts and Special Events to identify, cultivate and steward long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals to secure income for the charity.

The role will focus on growing the number of major donors to Whizz Kidz, helping to deliver sustainable, multi-year income in support of our strategy. To achieve this, you will take a proactive, relationship-led approach to manage your own portfolio of donors as well as a prospect pipeline, working closely with colleagues across the organisation to develop compelling cases for support.

The person

You will have experience of developing and managing relationships with high-value donors and prospects, understand what motivates philanthropic giving and know how to successfully cultivate, solicit and steward major donors. You will be confident making financial asks, skilled at building strong relationships and able to adapt your approach to a wide range of individuals.

What the job involves

As our Senior People Services Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day heartbeat of People Services and make sure every colleague has a smooth, supportive and high-quality experience throughout their time with us.

You’ll be the person who keeps things running brilliantly: setting the pace for operational delivery, supporting managers with confidence, and making sure our processes are simple, clear and compliant – ensuring delivery through an experienced and high-performing People Services Team. You’ll work closely with People & Culture, Finance, IT and leaders across the charity to drive a consistent, joined up service that helps people do their best work.

This is a hands-on leadership role partnering with People & Culture leadership and peers to drive the People Strategy and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture. You’ll shape how we deliver People Services, spotting ways to improve, simplify and modernise what we do. You’ll lead a team covering critical activity relating to all stages of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding, contracts, HR systems and data, payroll oversight, policies and employee relations, and you’ll be the operational authority and escalation point for complex or high-risk issues.

What we want from you

• Strong HR operations experience at a senior level, with CIPD Level 5 or equivalent knowledge.

The Head of Public Fundraising will lead the design and delivery of a mass audience fundraising strategy for The Children’s Trust. Taking a supporter centred approach, the postholder will lead a team of individual giving and relationship fundraisers to generate income through the strategic and long-term engagement of new and existing supporters.

The role will include setting and delivering income and expenditure budgets across individual giving, legacy, events, community and partnerships income streams as well as evaluating new opportunities for voluntary income growth.

The postholder will play a key part within the Fundraising, Retail and Communications directorate and champion fundraising across the organisation.

Role Requirements

• Develop, implement and monitor a fundraising strategy across all public fundraising areas aligned to the voluntary income strategy.
• Working with the Director of Fundraising and Communications, set income and expenditure budgets, agreeing activities and initiatives to deliver these budgets ensuring. cost control regular forecasting and taking corrective action to achieve budgets. 
• Establishing and monitoring KPIs and quality standards for the Public Fundraising team 
• Review and build on The Children’s Trust supporter journey, ensuring that all supporter relationships are strengthened and that donors are engaged on many levels.
• Review and revise The Children’s Trust case for support, working with the Head of High Value Philanthropy to develop appeals and/or products relevant for different audiences.
• Using a donor centred approach, explore opportunities to maximise income growth and long-term relationship development.
• Work with Senior Events and Partnerships Manager and Senior Individual Giving Manager to strengthen relationships and cross-team working within the Public Fundraising team with a view to maximising supporter engagement and fundraising opportunities. 
• Lead the team to create a supporter-focussed plan to refine assumptions around product offerings and audience needs. 
• Using CRM principles, work with senior managers to optimise acquisition planning, and channels and campaigns within agreed budgets.
• Build and strengthen internal relationships across the organisation to co-produce fundraising propositions and ensure that budget relieving, organisational priorities are at the centre of all fundraising relationships.
• Work with Heads across the Fundraising, Retail and Communications Directorate to manage relationships, scope of work and overall budgets when commissioning external data analytics, creative and media agencies.

For the past 8 years, Just Finance Foundation has been growing our LifeSavers programme, bringing financial education to life in primary schools across the UK.

In 2025 alone, 135,809 of children across 551 schools had the opportunity to build essential money skills. It’s something we’re really proud of. But we’re not done yet.

We believe every child deserves the chance to grow up with confidence about money and we’re looking for someone who can help us reach many more classrooms.

The role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced, hands-on digital marketer to shape how we connect with teachers across the UK.

Over the next two years, we’ll be:

• Supporting primary schools in England as they prepare for a new curriculum
• Expanding our reach across Scotland and the devolved nations

You’ll play a key role in making that happen: leading digital marketing activity that grows awareness of LifeSavers and inspires more teachers to take part.

Working with a collaborative and ambitious team, you’ll turn insight into action: building smart, effective campaigns and journeys that make it easy for teachers to discover, sign up, and get started.

What you will be doing (a summary)

• Design and deliver digital customer journeys for teachers from first awareness through to sign-up and early engagement
• Grow teacher participation by increasing high-quality leads, enquiries and sign-ups
• Plan, run and optimise digital campaigns across channels, including paid ads
• Improve how our content shows up in search, helping more teachers find what they need
• Use data and insights to continuously improve performance and make strategic decisions

About you

You’ll bring:

• Experience building and improving digital customer journeys (from awareness through to conversion and onboarding).
• Confidence managing key digital channels like social, web and email.
• Hands-on experience running successful paid digital campaigns.
• Strong analytical skills, using tools like Google Analytics to track and improve performance.
• Great organisation and a focus on delivering against targets.

Contract and Hours - Permanent, full-time, 36.25 hours per week. Role to commence from Summer 2026 onwards.

A typical working day is 9.15-5.30pm, including a lunch break (unpaid). We support flexible working and part-time arrangements where it is appropriate for the role.

We promote hybrid working with three days per week worked at our office and gallery for full-time staff, and two days per week office and gallery working for part-time staff.

Wednesday is a whole team office and gallery day when staff meetings take place.

Salary - £39,000 to £50,000 gross per annum, dependent on experience and based on full-time working (pro rata for part-time / annualised working).

Location - Crafts Council Office and Gallery is based on the Pentonville Road in Islington, London, with some hybrid / home working.
