Our Lay Worker will work in partnership with clergy and lay volunteers to meet the spiritual needs of older people in Colchester and the surrounding areas,  including those whose independence and/or social engagement are challenged, owing to their advancing years, by:

• Offering spiritual support to older people who are living at home, in care homes and sheltered housing complexes; their relatives; and staff who look after them.
• Promoting the spiritual welfare of older people at home, in the Church and in the wider community.

The role will include working with existing groups within the church and in the local community, in addition to identifying new opportunities for work and outreach.

The post is home based, travelling extensively across the area.

Hours are 20 per week, to be worked flexibly.

The initial contract period is 4 years.

WellChild is part of the Digital Services Consortium, a coalition of 12 charities and similar organisations all focused on driving digital inclusion for disabled or seriously ill children, young people and their families across the UK.

The Digital Inclusion Programme is a new project at WellChild with the aim of providing equipment and digital skills training to families who have children with complex medical needs, specifically targeting harder to reach and diverse families. Being digitally excluded has a negative impact on people’s access to health care and social engagement and this newly created and exciting role will make a real difference to the lives of those supported.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking an empathetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated person to join our friendly and supportive team as a Digital Inclusion Officer to work directly with charity beneficiaries - parents and carers of children with complex medical needs who are digitally excluded.

Purpose of the role:

This is an exciting new role at WellChild, and the Digital Inclusion Officer will be vital to the success of this project, helping to shape it from the very beginning. This opportunity will see you delivering and facilitating targeted outreach and digital inclusion support, including training and workshops to those harder-to-reach and digitally excluded families helping them improve their digital skills. This will be achieved through development and provision of training utilising Good Things Foundation’s ‘Learn My Way’ resources enabling these families to become digitally included and supporting them to engage with our parent carer community – The WellChild Family Tree.

This will be achieved by networking with community organisations, services and groups with a particular focus on those harder-to-reach and digitally excluded families. This role is also an opportunity to develop a new volunteer programme for digital champions to help feed into and grow this new service area ensuring our digital inclusion offer is sustainable in the long term.

The Digital Inclusion Officer will also be responsible for developing ways to provide ongoing support to the service users, encouraging and supporting them to join our parent carer community, or working with the wider family team to create new tools to connect these families, reducing their isolation and providing them with peer support, guidance and opportunities to take part in activities and events offered through our WellChild Family Tree.

Working within the Families Team as part of the broader Programmes Team and reporting to the Family Programm Manager, this role will lead the development and delivery of our digital inclusion project.

There are three key parts to this role:

Outreach and identification of families – working with WellChild staff, external organisations and stakeholders to design and deliver ways to identify and recruit digitally excluded families to the programme so they can become digitally included and access much needed support and guidance.

Development and delivery – using a user-led, test-driven approach to shape WellChild’s digital inclusion offer to deliver, facilitate and coordinate support and workshops providing targeted training to improve digital skills to harder-to-reach groups. This will also include the provision of equipment and data enabling these groups to be digitally included.

Sustainability and engagement – Monitor and evaluate programme’s success and identify ways to ensure the digital inclusion programme can develop as a sustainable service by developing a network of volunteer champions to support the programme delivery, promotion and engagement of service users. Working with wider teams to create resources and connect families to our parent carer community – The WellChild Family Tree.

You will also be expected to help identify case studies that can be used to promote the work of the charity, whilst monitoring & evaluating activities and engagement, producing reports as necessary. Throughout your work you will embed safeguarding processes and policies to keep families safe.

You will be able to:

• Demonstrate recent experience in supporting vulnerable people.
• Demonstrate the ability, skills and/or experience delivering digital inclusion training, developing and shaping content to the needs of the service user.
• Build and sustain valuable relationships with our families so they feel engaged and supported from the moment they access support including those from harder-to-reach and diverse groups.
• Provide digital skills training to families enabling them to confidently become digitally included whilst identifying any additional requirements for data, equipment or assistive technology.
• Develop and network with key organisations/groups/services to build relationships and identify service users.
• Support and work with the Family Programme Manager to maximise strategies to grow the programme, including increasing our WellChild Family Tree membership base to include harder-to-reach and more diverse families.
• Recruit and support volunteers to sustain and enhance the digital inclusion programme.
• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and ability to adapt to the needs of a new and growing service.
• Demonstrate commitment and ability for strong team working.

You will ideally have:

• Digital inclusion experience and/or knowledge to develop and deliver WellChild’s digital inclusion programme including monitoring and reporting.
• Proven ability to engage with families, children and young people in a sensitive and effective manner.
• Experience planning and delivering digital skills workshops and identifying new locations for groups/sessions
• Demonstrate experience and/or knowledge of the Learn My Way digital training resource or similar platforms.

About the Service – Door of Hope (East London)

The Door of Hope Service provides support to women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets.  This includes journeying alongside women, whilst providing advocacy, information, emotional and practical support.  The service also has a strong team of around 15 volunteers, who deliver street outreach to women in Tower Hamlets on a Thursday morning and Friday night.

About the Role

Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry, to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support, provide training, and create resources and reports informed by research, lived experience, and practitioner experience.

Our psychotherapy service for women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets, was borne from the recognition that many of these women would benefit from this style of support, when mainstream offers were not feasible or appropriate or women were denied access because of the multiple disadvantages they were experiencing. In the 18 months since the support has been provided, the positive impact on women and the psychological and behavioural change it has evoked, has been testament to the necessity in providing this service.

Based at our offices in Tower Hamlets, your role will be to provide women-centred, psychotherapeutic support for women with complex needs, either in- person, online and on the telephone.  You will, on occasion, be required to meet a woman in a local café, hostel or elsewhere in the community, to start forming relationships and trust, as well as small brief, interventions.

The role will be working alongside a small team of Door of Hope daytime support workers, and a service manager, who deliver an in-person support service, with women who sell sex in East London. You will work closely with our Door of Hope team, to manage risk around women, and to support her accessing appropriate support services in the Borough.

Within this role, we are seeking someone who is non-judgemental, compassionate and can see the strengths that each individual woman brings.  You will be able to work in a gender and trauma-informed way and will have a good awareness of the need and role of safeguarding policies and procedures. You will have experience of working with complex trauma, individuals who experience multiple disadvantage and be familiar with working in a multi-disciplinary manner to manage risks around women.  You will have a passion for supporting women and want to be part of increasing our positive reach and impact.

Q:alliance provides support, information and representation for the LGBTQ+ people who live, work and play in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. We have detailed knowledge of the issues and challenges that organisations and individuals face locally.

It’s our goal to create more safe spaces and resources to ensure the LGBTQ+ community is well represented and supported.

Scope

This established role will engage the LGBTQ+ Schools Partnership Forum (Milton Keynes) to plan, deliver and evaluate educational programmes for young people and manage a 1:1 caseload of support for LGBTQ+ young people across schools, colleges, and youth services in Milton Keynes. You will develop and implement training to upskill teachers, education staff and youth workers. Working collaboratively with all partners to ensure safe spaces for young LGBTQ+ people across diverse settings with particular focus on increasing resilience, wellbeing, and mental health of LGBTQ+ youth communities.

You will work closely with our youth work team and CEO to determine targets for outreach, engagement, and effective monitoring systems to ensure robust reporting.

Main Responsibilities

· Networking – Strengthen the LGBTQ+ Schools Partnership Forum, supporting teachers, education staff and youth workers to access resources, implement inclusive learning environments and provide support for LGBTQ+ young people in their settings. Coordinate meetings with the network to update on shifting needs, priorities, and situations in a local and national context.

· Data capture and intelligence - Support Q;alliance’s commitment to sustaining a contemporary data and monitoring mechanism, guaranteeing we can deliver thorough evaluations of our services and competent feedback to our funders and stakeholders on the efficacy of our work. Analyse local intelligence directly from LGBTQ+ youth communities and use this to co-produce plans with young people to ensure our youth services are engaging and meeting needs.

· Support, information and empowerment – develop and implement resources for 1:1 education and resilience work with LGBTQ+ young people, provide support for young people in crisis, ensuring effective signposting to relevant services and collaboration with parents, guardians, teachers and education staff where appropriate.

· Innovation – work with the CEO, LGBTQ+ Schools Partnership Forum and young people to innovate a schools accreditation system that will acknowledge and cultivate schools’ competence to provide safe spaces and support for LGBTQ+ young people.

· Stakeholder and community engagement – Work with Communications and Engagement Manager to plan outreach activities in line with Engagement Plan and communicate with youth communities in line with our Communications Strategy. Forge and support enduring relationships with key partners, strengthening our commitment to building an alliance of cross-sector compassionate advocates for the LGBTQ+ community in its diverse forms.

· Education – Plan, develop and deliver positive and engaging classroom workshops and school assemblies to a wide range of young people, ensuring key messages are inclusive of diverse perspectives, including those from black and minoritized communities.

· Training - Develop and deliver training for teachers, education staff and youth workers with the aim of improving the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ youth communities and the capacity of those with the power to assist in this endeavour.

What you’ll bring to the team

You will serve as the first point of contact for schools, colleges and youth settings. You will chair a dynamic network of school and college leads and empower team members with the information you have gained so that we can better respond to the needs of LGBTQ+ young people, including how this may relate to securing vital funds for services. You will help our youth workers understand the impact education has on the lives of our youth communities, whilst championing the good work of teachers and education staff who are trailblazers. You will ensure continuity of support between school, Q:Hub (our youth support space) and our other youth service provisions.

The post holder will work within our team of specialist welfare benefits advisers, as a specialist welfare benefits adviser providing information, advice, and guidance to clients in our Macmillan-funded Welfare Benefits Project, providing a welfare rights advice service to people affected by cancer to maximise their income.

Scope of role

The post holder will undertake casework, assisting clients to access their entitlements to welfare benefits and other sources of financial help. Advice will be delivered through a range of channels, including face-to-face, telephone, email, and other means, provide Welfare Benefits advice and information to people living with cancer and their families.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Case work

• Provide a full welfare benefits casework service for people affected by cancer. This includes disability benefits and other sources of financial support, such as grants and help with health and travel costs.

Welfare Benefit Appeals

• Assist clients to prepare for benefits appeals, research, and the draft was written legal submissions, and provide representation at tribunals as required.

Outreach

• Alongside other team members provide advice sessions through outreach, including at hospitals - currently St Bartholomews, Homerton, Royal London, Newham, and Whipps Cross; and at Toynbee Hall through telephone, email, and any other channel

Targets

• Meet targets as set with the line manager, which will change regularly depending on the needs of the services.

Quality Standard

• Ensure consistent quality assured advice, to AQS standard, monitored by checking casework and observations
• Maintain thorough and detailed case records for continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation
• Use all relevant case management systems, such as Advice Pro, as well as Microsoft Office applications, for statistical recording, record keeping, and document production. Ensure all work conforms to Toynbee Hall’s systems and procedures.
• Along with the rest of the team ensure stocks of leaflets, posters, and stationary, are ordered from suppliers and distributed to outreach locations
• Gather statistics and feedback to monitor and evaluate the service, providing reports as required to the steering group, funders, and partners.

Social Policy

• Support Macmillan Toynbee Hall Welfare Rights Advice Service’s social policy work by providing case studies and feedback on issues of concern to people affected by cancer; including attending internal and appropriate external meetings, and identifying and acting upon social policy issues

Essential Criteria:

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Recent Welfare Benefits advice work experience, particularly in the areas of health and disability, with at least one year’s specialist welfare benefits casework experience.
• Ability to write detailed accurate case records and drafts, letters reports, and statements in plain English.
• Recent experiences of working in a performance-driven environment and evidence of meeting targets set.
• An ordered and disciplined approach to managing a challenging caseload, meeting targets; planning and prioritising work in the face of competing demands on your time.

Overview and key points on the role  | Rape Crisis South London is looking for 2 part time skilled, passionate and professional Caseworkers who will be based within the Advocacy Service.  As a Caseworker you will support clients through their journey through the housing and benefits system by providing practical and emotional support to survivors of sexual violence.  You should have a good working knowledge of Housing processes and Welfare benefits systems with experience of carrying out assessments and completing applications.  In addition to having excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills you should also be able to develop key relationships with external agencies such as the local authority.   You should have demonstrable experience working with survivors of sexual violence and of working in a trauma-informed way. Purpose of the post

HDR UK are committed to meaningful involvement and engagement where patients and the public are actively involved in shaping our work and decision-making. Reporting to the Senior Public Involvement and Engagement Manager and matrix managed within the Big Data for Complex Disease team, this is a pivotal role that will maintain and build upon an established strategy and programme of activities embedding the patient and public voice at all stages of work with the Driver Programme.

Your work will also support best practice delivered as part of the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI), a vital UK-wide multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to facilitate a sector wide shift focused on establishing and advancing good practices for public involvement and engagement (PIE) with data-driven research and statistics.

You will work closely with public members, research and NHS communities, internal colleagues, charity partners, and funders to develop and implement plans for patient and public involvement and engagement.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for meaningful involvement and engagement of patients and the public in research, to shape and influence our work on the safe, ethical and scientifically robust use of data for research into the causes, prevention and treatment of disease.

The successful candidate will have a track record in working with individuals, groups and communities and can communicate complex information in clear, engaging ways. The post holder will have excellent influencing and negotiation skills, experience of working on complex projects with multiple partners and be comfortable with working at pace.  Patient and public involvement and engagement in data-driven research is a growing field. The successful candidate will show a willingness and experience of developing and delivering innovative approaches to involvement where previously opportunities may not have been obvious.

Main responsibilities

Big Data for Complex Disease PPIE strategy and delivery:

• Lead on the delivery of the PPIE strategy for the Big Data for Complex Disease driver programme, with oversight from the Senior PPIE Manager and Senior Programme Manager.
• Develop and deliver training and support best practice for researchers working with patients and the public on involvement and engagment in health data research.
• Support member development and growth of the network of patients and public contributors involved in the Big Data for Complex Disease driver programme, including by providing training and guidance on data science and its use in the programme.

Embedding PPIE in our work:

• Lead and facilitate meetings with public contributors to integrate meaningful PPIE throughout all aspects of our work.
• Undertake and manage specific involvement and engagement activities, including but not limited to focus groups, engagement events, developing and undertaking surveys, supporting the writing of plain English summaries of projects and their outputs. In collaboration with senior colleagues, support involvement of patients and the public in the governance of our work.
• Review and provide advice on PPIE elements of research projects ensuring adequate PPIE is incorporated and provide advice and support where needed to researchers. 
• Develop methods to expand reach and ensure diversity of perspectives and work with the HDR UK Involvement and Engagement team to grow involvement of currently underrepresented and underserved groups in health data science.
• Build and manage relationships with colleagues within the Big Data for Complex Disease driver programme and relevant partners like the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Data Science Centre, working collaboratively to support and manage involvement and engagement across all areas of work.
• Work closely with the internal communications colleagues to create and disseminate engaging content (e.g. news stories on outputs and impact, videos, infographics, case studies) on our work and involvement and engagement activities using a variety of communication tools.
• Horizon scan and liaise with colleagues across HDR UK for opportunities to increase visibility of the institute’s engagement and involvement impact, i.e. through conferences, festivals, journals and other publications.
• Lead on the recruitment of new public contributors as required. Adapt, develop and provide training for public where necessary identifying training requirements as needed.

Developing PPIE best practice and collaborative working:

• Work with the Senior PPIE Programme Delivery Manager and the rest of the PPIE Central team to share best practice and examples of successful PPIE practices that could influence our work, including through the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI).
• Collaborate with the Senior PPIE Programme Delivery Manager, the PPIE Central team, and the HDR UK’s Institute-Wide PPIE Leads Group to lead public outreach initiatives and other events, ensuring that stakeholders are afforded opportunities to contribute their input and provide feedback. Establish effective working relationships and ‘ways of working’ with strategic partners to maximise opportunities for collaboration in patient and public involvement and engagement.
• Act as an internal and external ambassador for public, patient and practitioner engagement and involvement.
• Monitor and report on performance of PPIE across the Programme, make effective use of digital approaches to maximise the ability to collaborate, communicate and continuously learn.

SPEAR is a lifeline to hundreds of people each year who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness across six London boroughs. We provide essential outreach support, a variety of accommodation options, tenancy support services and vital health programmes. In 2024 we supported 804 people experiencing homelessness. Corporate Giving at SPEAR comprises just over 20% of our fundraised income, with a mix of direct giving, local COY partnerships and employee fundraising.
