Main Purpose of Job

• To be responsible for the delivery of all aspects of our advice services via telephone, email/web, in person and at outreach venues.

• To line manage team leads, debt caseworkers and the energy adviser and support them in achieving high standards of accessible advice services.

• To oversee the use of our volunteer adviser resources to cover each of our advice channels in the most effective way.

• To liaise with the training lead to ensure we have sufficient, well trained volunteer advice resources to deliver our service.

• To ensure cover for Advice Session Supervisors when needed

• To provide training, guidance and support on client records, telephone channel and quality standards

• To design and implement improvements to our advice processes based on best practice, leading and gaining buy-in from team members as necessary.

• To be overall responsible for the quality of our advice in line with our Quality of Advice framework and IFR’s to drive the organisation towards excellence in quality.

• To be responsible for ensuring Debt technical supervision is in place and carry out continuous professional development activities and duties within the organisation.

• In maintaining quality, you will need to inspire and motivate your team and provide focussed individual support where necessary to achieve internal and external quality and KPI standards

• To drive a culture of continuous workforce development where a rigorous but supportive approach is adopted

• You will identify the best quality tools and execute investigations/analysis to improve workforce competency and quality across the organisation, and support our brand reputation

• Monitor and track performance progress of the service and of individuals against targets, achievement of deadlines and support staff as appropriate

• To undertake regular team meetings in line with the organisation’s quality expectations

• To undertake regular formal supervisions and review meetings

Research and Campaigns

• To ensure the advice team contribute to the development of social policy in line with our business plan

• To assist with social policy work as required by the organisation

Management duties

• You will be accountable and responsible for delivering the service delivery related objectives and outcomes from the organisation’s Business Plan and service-related KPIs.

• Prepare and issue reports as required for the CEO, funders and partners, attending meetings as required to present findings and recommendations 

Learning and professional development  

Keep up to date with legislation relevant to the role, trends, ideas and thinking

• Attend and actively participate in regular support and supervision sessions and appraisals with the Chief Executive Officer

• Identify own learning and development needs and plan to meet them.

Administration  

Ensure that detailed records for the purposes of information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation are maintained and developed

• Produce comprehensive, analytical and developmental oral and written reports on the work of the service as required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake advice work as required, including supporting contracts and projects outside of the generalist service.

• Support with the efficient and effective use of Casebook, gathering, storing and analysing data and contributing to the reporting processes for services, projects and contracts.

• Keep up to date with Citizens Advice aims, policies and procedures and ensure these are followed.

• Ensure that work reflects and supports the Citizens Advice service's equity, diversity and inclusion strategy.

• Develop and maintain effective admin systems and records relevant to the role.

• Act as key holder and open or close the building when necessary.

• Attend regular internal and external meetings relevant to the role and to services at outreach locations.

• Work cooperatively with colleagues and encourage good teamwork, clear lines of communication and common practices within the team.

• Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own health and safety and that of colleagues; taking particular account of this at outreach and shared locations.

In addition you must be prepared to train up to do the following:

Debt Advice giving

• Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.

• Use appropriate resources to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information to clients.

• Research and explore options and implications so that clients can make informed decisions.

• Act for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.

• Negotiate with third parties such as statutory and non-statutory bodies as appropriate.

• Ensure that all work conforms to the organisation’s office manual and the Advice Quality standard / other funding requirements, as appropriate.

• Ensure that work reflects and supports the Citizens Advice service’s equality and diversity strategy.

• Maintain detailed case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.

• Take ownership for monitoring own workload e.g. proactively reviewing progress on current cases, outcome of completed cases and quality control.

• Be a DRO approved intermediary.

SLRA is a well-established local migrant support organisation working with and for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants who are at risk or in crisis because of immigration issues. We provide specialist immigration advice as well as a broad range of practical, social and therapeutic support services. We also campaign for a fairer immigration system, involving local people with lived experience in influencing local and national policy and practice. 

Our Nest Project brings advice and improved awareness and knowledge to migrant families with young children, through community settings in Lambeth and Southwark. The project aims to reach families with the information and advice they need in order to resolve their status before they fall into crisis, and allow them to live safely and access opportunities.

The Nest Project Coordinator will lead on developing partnerships with and providing training to staff and volunteers in community settings as well as providing immigration advice and casework.

We would love to hear from you if you have: 

• Experience of providing immigration advice and casework support to migrant individuals who have complex needs, working sensitively and effectively within community settings.
• A strong track record in establishing and developing partnership working, and delivering training/workshops within community settings.
• Authorisation to provide immigration advice at IAA Level 1 or higher, and a strong understanding of the rights and entitlements, support available to the client group and of referral processes to statutory and non-statutory support agencies.

The Senior Fundraising Support & Services Manager will lead a team of two Fundraising Support Executives, providing pre-award support to income-generating teams in the UK, USA and internationally. The postholder will oversee the structuring, costing, and management of proposals and funding agreements, lead pledge administration and philanthropic scholarship processes, and improve operational processes. They will also represent the team on LSE’s CRM replacement project, ensuring that system design and implementation meets operational and compliance needs.

· Thorough knowledge of UK and international fundraising practices, including tax-efficient giving.

About the role

You will be at the forefront of establishing a centrally-located PMO to embed project excellence in a mission-driven environment, operating both strategically and hands on across the King’s Fund. Your responsibilities will include developing and embedding project management standards and governance frameworks, establishing a performance framework to understand the impact of our projects, and providing oversight and assurance for key projects and programmes.

You will engage with senior leaders and staff leading and coordinators to embed a culture of effective project delivery, lead change management and continuous improvement efforts, and act as a trusted advisor on project and programme management. Additionally, you may matrix-manage project staff or line manage a small team as the PMO grows, ensuring effective use of project management tools and systems through a cross-organisation community of practice.

As an established PMO Manager, you will bring your experience in setting up PMOs and use your knowledge of a diverse range of project and programme management methodologies. You will be enthusiastic about making a difference, and are able to bring people with you in change. You will be an excellent communicator, with experience of facilitation, and influencing skills, and proven experience in managing change are essential.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Director of Fundraising and Communications is a member of the Executive Team. This is ShelterBox's most senior management team, with overall responsibility for leading, planning and managing the work and development of ShelterBox.

You will be responsible for the delivery of our current 5 year organisational strategy 2022-27 as well as the implementation of the departmental Fundraising and Communications strategy, driving continued ambitious growth in our reach, engagement and fundraising. You will also play a leading role in driving the development of the next 5-year strategy for 2027 onwards.

You will work with the wider organisation and stakeholders to represent Fundraising and Communications and ensure the team are supported and able to thrive.

This is a role for a dynamic senior fundraising and communications specialist, who will bring significant experience within the sector. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will develop and implement a strategy that builds foundations for growth and drives a bold and confident ShelterBox of the future. You will take full accountability for the successful delivery of income forecasts and expenditure budgets. You will work with the team to deliver best in class communications across our channels, reach new audiences and grow unrestricted income through digital and offline acquisition, oversee the strategic growth of our philanthropy and partnerships programme, support our strategic partnership with Rotary, and ensure that the ShelterBox brand is optimised to ensure we stand out in a crowded market.

You will also be responsible for understanding the needs and ambitions of the ShelterBox network of affiliates (in Europe, North America and Australasia), seeking to understand the strategies and tactics that will drive global income growth. You will recommend where investments by ShelterBox Trust can support global fundraising into the future.

You will be a proven, highly effective communicator with an empowering management style and the ability to quickly build relationships. A personal desire to invest in your teams with limited resources is essential. Creativity, commitment and best practice implementation are key.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking a highly experienced fundraising and communications expert, who has a passion for storytelling and building impactful relationships. You must be able to hit the ground running, have a strong record of developing and leading successful teams by building highly effective relationships. This role is all about inspiring leadership, strategic innovation, and maximising every opportunity to grow our vital work.

Experience and understanding of the humanitarian sector is desirable, as is an understanding of current fundraising opportunities and challenges, ethical storytelling and communication trends. This includes an understanding of the competitive fundraising environment in the sector, following announcements by some government donors. The need for emergency shelter around the world is vast and growing daily. This role must understand and drive ambitious and effective ways to communicate our specialist focus on shelter and the tangibility of our offer to current and future supporters.

The role will support the Fundraising and Communications department to deliver 2025/2026 plans, as well as implement the longer-term fundraising and communications strategy, seizing all opportunities in an ever-changing landscape.

As well as leading the UK team, working with colleagues from different countries to grow international fundraising, requires excellent communication skills and a commitment to a long-term diplomatic approach.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the wider cultural context that affects our supporter's lives and behaviours. You will be results oriented and be confident using data and insight to inform decision making and drive our fundraising to the next level. Driven by a desire to connect in a meaningful way with audiences old and new, you will continuously seek new ways to ensure supporters are at the heart of everything we do.

• Drive and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, setting clear expectations, providing ongoing support and ensuring that teams are aligned with the strategy and our vision, mission and values.
• Ensure we grow the profile and influence of ShelterBox through the delivery of compelling fundraising and communications strategies to increase our supporter base and income.
• Line manage the FundComms SLT: Deputy Director of Fundraising and Communications, Head of Global Comms and Digital, Head of Global Brand and Content, Head of Fundraising Operations, Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships.
• Embed a culture of data and insight driven decision making, innovation and collaboration.

The Role
This role is focused on managing and growing our work with other third sector organisations. It focuses on two areas: (i) developing our social enterprise which delivers over 150 paid workshops each year and (ii) delivering youth voice initiatives with other charity partners which amplify young voices. As a Regional Lead, the individual will play a significant leadership role to the East Africa team based in Nairobi. ROLE PURPOSE:
