We’re looking for a proactive and driven New Business Manager to grow our corporate partnerships and generate new income for Home-Start UK, helping us support more families across the UK. This role also includes line management responsibility for the New Business Officer.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape and lead our new business approach—helping to re-energise how we identify opportunities, engage partners, and grow income.

The Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the effective day-to-day running of the charity. Strategic Leadership

Headlines Craniofacial Support is a UK-based charity providing information, advice and support to individuals and families affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions.  The charity works closely with professional partners, including the 5 NHS Designated Specialist Craniofacial Units across the UK.

Craniosynostosis is a condition where two or more of the plates in the skull fuse prematurely, requiring medical support from a young age. Around 350 children are born with craniosynostosis each year in the UK.

Established by group of parents in 1993, Headlines now has over 2,500 members.  Within our charity offer we send out regular newsletters and an annual magazine, Headline News.  We also support families to connect through events such as an annual Family Weekend, conferences and Days Out, and provide information through our helpline and access to psychological support.  We have private social media groups and specific groups within our membership who meet regularly including Cranio Dads, Young Persons Network and a Teens Group.

After 8 successful years, our current Director will be retiring in 2026 and we are now seeking an enthusiastic, inspirational and proactive individual to take up the reins.This is a rare opportunity to lead a well-established, respected national charity at an important moment of transition.

Key responsibilities

Person specification 

Essential criteria

• An understanding of the importance of the charity’s values and priorities.
• Evidence of inclusive, innovative and proactive leadership, with demonstrable experience of fundraising and income generation.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with experience organising events and activities.
• Experience of successfully managing budgets and developing new and sustainable funding streams.
• Excellent organisational, presentation and communication skills and the ability to write reports for public consumption and for statutory obligations.
• A high level of digital literacy skills with an understanding of online technology and the application of social media.
• Proven track record in managing, leading and motivating staff and volunteers.

Other information

Headlines hosts events and fundraising activities throughout the whole of the UK. About the role
We are recruiting for a Proposition Development Manager to join on a permanent contract. The full-time working hours for this role are 35 hours per week, however we are open to receiving applications from people who would like part-time hours with a minimum of 21 hours per week required (0.6 FTE). This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required for in-person team meetings and events.

As Proposition Development Manager, you will develop compelling and engaging propositions that will strengthen our ability to reach ambitious income and growth targets. This role will work collaboratively with the Senior Proposition Development Manager to meet with teams across the Society to understand key plans, impact models and budgets for our future work.

By utilising good copywriting skills, you will craft these propositions into compelling narratives for high value fundraising. You will work in collaboration with other teams, including working closely with fundraisers from across Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy to support their aims.

Additionally, you will spearhead key projects that improve the rigour and effectiveness of our teams, whilst working closely with the Corporate, Philanthropy and Development teams, alongside Research and Service teams, to drive meaningful propositions that inspire support.

About you
Joining us, you’ll have demonstrable experience of utilising propositions for a high value audience, in addition to a track record of producing engaging and persuasive written copy that can inspire an audience. You’ll have demonstrated an understanding of the needs of high value audiences, including corporate partners, philanthropists, trusts, foundations and legacy supporters.

Crucially, you’ll be an effective problem-solver with the ability to use your organisational and prioritisation skills to manage projects effectively. What you’ll focus on:

- Working closely with the Senior Proposition Development Manager to develop a range of compelling funding propositions that support the income and growth ambitions of the High Value Partnerships and Legacies Directorate.
- Utilising supporter data and information to create compelling fundraising propositions, spotting gaps and opportunities to write up current activity into inspiring communications, as well as leading on resources for newly launched projects.
- Building internal networks to allow you to translate Alzheimer’s Society’s activity into compelling resources that articulate the need, solution, budget and impact of our work.
- Proactively sharing information about ‘priority propositions’ in a range of formats, including by facilitating working groups and on team-wide webinars.
- Building relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, including in Research, Dementia Support and Partnerships (Services) and Campaigns and Influencing, to understand priorities and work closely with key stakeholders to decide how activity can be packaged up.
- Working collaboratively with Corporate, Philanthropy and Legacy teams to understand supporter needs and the role propositions can play in enabling Alzheimer’s Society to reach our ambitious income goals.

About the National Flood Forum:

The National Flood Forum is a national charity founded by those affected by flooding, working to support and represent individuals and communities at risk. The organization focuses on empowering flood-affected communities to recover and improve flood resilience. The NFF encourages applications from individuals with lived experience of flooding, and from diverse backgrounds.

Role Overview:

This role is a member of the organisation’s management team and has responsibility for the delivery of our flood support work. The postholder will lead the delivery of a professional helpline service and oversee reactive and proactive flood support services to communities and business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Flood Support: Lead and manage high-quality proactive and reactive Flood Support Services for communities and businesses at risk of, and impacted by, flooding, including helpline & recovery services and management of the flood support vehicle. Ensure service quality through performance management, maintaining service consistency, maximising strategic impact, championing best practice, and delivering against objectives.
• Stakeholder relationships: Develop and maintain key partnerships with Risk Management authorities, (RMAs), and other stakeholders. Act as senior engagement lead, providing a clear escalation route and positioning National Flood Forum  as a trusted, informed critical friend for flooded communities.
• Research and Evidence: Oversee flood support research, collecting and evaluating evidence to strengthen advocacy. Provide insight to support policy and practice influence.
• Income: Identify, scope, and lead the development of high-quality engagement contracts, working with teams and management to prioritise and secure income.
• Political and Fundraising support: Provide data, case studies, and research to support political engagement and fundraising. Attend relevant meetings.

· People Management: Manage a matrix team, fostering collaboration, motivation, and development. Mentor team members and ensure skills and competence are maintained to achieve high performance

Experience and Qualifications required:

• Empathetic: Understand the challenges faced by those at risk of flooding and help to work with communities and agencies to provide practical solutions.
• Organized and Flexible: Proven experience working to deadlines and prioritising workloads. Able to self-motivate and work in isolation or as part of a small team.
• Projects: Comprehensive experience of managing projects including able to analyse, diagnose problems  through to implementing effective solutions.
• Communication: Able to stay calm and constructive in challenging situations.
• Knowledge – Working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and current practice.
• Staff management: Have previously directly managed staff.
• Qualifications - BTEC or NVQ4 or relevant experience in one or more relevant subjects e.g. environmental science, development, engagement.
• Full driving licence
