Health & Safety Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join our Estates Team. In your role as the Health & Safety Officer will be to provide support on an operational basis to the health & safety function.

Role Requirements

• Promote good stakeholder involvement and good safety culture
• Prepare and issue monthly health and safety briefing documents / toolbox talks
• Keep health and safety information up to date, including all fire safety documentation (fire emergency plans, fire safety manuals etc.), the health and safety section of the intranet and shared documents
• Carry out regular walkabouts, including at retail stores, keeping in touch with staff on their safety arrangements and ensuring control measures are in place and effective
• Provide health and safety training and coaching on topics such as, but not limited to, general health & safety (induction and refresher training), fire safety, COSHH, risk assessing and manual handling
• Develop and refresh internal online training to support staff learning experiences
• Carry out general risk assessment, as required, with particular emphasis on retail, regulatory requirements, outings and the clinical environment.
• Update fire risk assessments for low to medium-risk buildings, tracking completion of actions and updating compliance software
• Manage COSHH risk assessments and the COSHH risk register, checking on suitable PPE and storage
• Manage compliance with workstation assessments, including homeworking, using the external management system
• Support teams, enabling them to carry out their risk assessments, including manual handling assessments for inanimate activities
• Develop and keep up to date Safe Operating Procedures for health and safety.
• To undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

We're looking for a Head of Net Zero Carbon Fundraising to join us on a 12-month fixed term contract

The Net Zero Carbon programme has been established to help the Church of England to deliver its commitment to reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. It aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport by 2030.

All parts of the Church will need to raise funds to implement this Net Zero plan. The Giving Directorate is working alongside the core Programme Team to leading on the strategy to coordinate and support the plans being developed by our dioceses, churches, cathedrals, schools, and departments to secure the funds needed and distribute grant funding to leverage further fundraising.

We are working in partnership with Richard House Children’s Hospice to secure their new Corporate Fundraiser. Richard House helps children and their families in East London to lead as happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. From the moment a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting, life-threatening or complex health condition everything changes. These changes affect the whole family, which is why Richard House feel it is vital not only to provide care to the child but to support the whole family. As a member of the fundraising team, you will directly support the charity’s work, as the majority of their services are funded thanks to the generosity of their supporters. 

The Corporate Fundraiser will be responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and partners, ensuring a first-class cultivation and stewardship journey. Key responsibilities will include prospect research and new business development, compelling proposal and proposition creation, account management and event and campaign planning. The role will be hands on, focused on operational fundraising that delivers crucial short- and medium-term funding impact, as well as longer-term and sustainable corporate income for Richard House.

This Corporate Fundraiser role is offered on an interim basis, but with the option to become permanent.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Proven ability to deliver income and activity targets in corporate fundraising, with a strong knowledge of corporate fundraising techniques.
• A track record in fundraising with evidence of the successful stewardship of four-figure and above partnerships/gifts, ideally with some exposure to multi-year partnerships.
• Experience of building bespoke fundraising propositions for corporate partners.

Excellent communication and relationship building skills and an ability to interact with prospects and partners at all levels will be key.

About the Council

The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in eye care services.  The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians).  At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary. 

The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders. 

Remuneration and time commitment

Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses).  The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.

The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at Level 29, One Canada Square, London, E14 5AA. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

Duties will include:

• Working alongside UCAN Enfield partners to co-produce and support the delivery of a programme of health and wellbeing sessions in the community that meet a range of needs from general population to specific conditions
• Attending community activities to meet new potential referrals and engage with participants.
• Managing shared UCAN Enfield Email inbox on a rota basis and loading new referrals onto Charity Log.
• Using Charity Log (CRM) to access and manage referrals by triaging and determining their level of need 1,2,3* and allocating the appropriate support which may include referring to other UCAN Enfield partners or referring to other partners.

As our Senior Finance Business Partner & Analyst you support all financial aspects of our income generation and contract management working closely with budget holders and senior management. Our income is about £10m much of which is contractual but with a small and growing donation income stream from trusts and individuals. The AI Opportunity Fund, led by the Centre for Public Impact with support from Google . org, is currently a  €16 million initiative aimed at empowering underserved workers across Europe with essential AI skills. The programme has selected 73 organisations from hundreds of applications to provide tailored AI training to 20,000 workers across 24 European countries. These organisations focus on diverse communities, including rural job seekers, underemployed women, and public sector workers, aiming to bridge the digital divide and promote economic resilience. The initiative underscores AI's potential to drive social mobility and equitable growth across the continent. We are also hoping to scale our work in this area in the future. 

Position Overview: 

At CPI we believe people are at the heart of our success. We are seeking a Grants Officer (Associate)   based in Europe to join our CPI Europe (CPIE) team. Your role is  critical  in ensuring the smooth delivery of the AI Opportunity Fund. This role is responsible for the effective administration of grants including ongoing due diligence and accurate record keeping, contributing to assessing proposals and organisations, stewarding and maintaining effective relationships with grantees and wider partners,  and ensuring compliance, timely reporting and payments. This role does not involve managing others.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Grant Strategy & Development

• Contribute to shaping the strategy, design and execution of the AI Opportunity Fund.

• Support Management to ensure excellent donor stewardship of Google . org, building their confidence in CPIE as a thought and delivery partner.

• Work collaboratively with programme teams to gather necessary information, data, and insights for compelling letters of inquiry, grant applications and contract bids.

2. Grant Management & Compliance

• Oversee the implementation of awarded grants and contracts, ensuring adherence to donor guidelines, reporting requirements, and project targets and timelines.

• Actively manage programmatic risks and conduct ongoing due diligence on grantee and wider partners to ensure compliance. 

• Prepare and submit accurate and timely grant reports to key stakeholders in collaboration with finance and programme teams.

• Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, flagging any discrepancies or potential issues.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for grantees, fostering positive relationships,  triaging and addressing inquiries and supporting them to deliver effectively.

• Identify and escalate issues  in a timely manner, actively participate in proposing and implement solutions. 

3. DEIB & Collaborative Working

We are looking for 2 organised and dedicated Project Workers who have a strong empathy with single homeless people, to coordinate our intensive housing management services across our South London boroughs.

You will be joining a small , friendly registered charity and registered provider with a supportive team.

Job purpose

The Project Worker will be responsible for the delivery of a responsive intensive housing management service to clients allocated by the Team Leader.

The central aim of the role is to support homeless clients temporarily living in CLHT placements to become as independent as possible and to facilitate timely move-on into independent living settings.

This will be achieved through regular client-led keywork sessions and in close collaboration with external partners. 

The Project Worker will coordinate the day-to-day smooth running of each house they are responsible for.

Duties and responsibilities specific to the role

Intensive Housing Management

1. Responsible for a broad range of housing management activities, including signing up new residents, issuing licensing agreements, delivering new client inductions, occupancy management and eviction / abandonment.
2. Evictions are a last resort and CLHT works within the Homeless Link guidance on preventing evictions and abandonment.
3. Work collaboratively with the Finance team to coordinate rent/ service charge collections
4. Carry out regular occupancy checks.
5. Maintain accurate and timely records related to housing management activities, within the requirements of GDPR.
6. Maintain a healthy and safe environment and encourage clients to take individual responsibility for their living environment and for positive relationships with fellow residents.
7. Ensure the accommodation where clients live is clean and maintained to a high standard, in line with CLHT property standards.
8. Ensure the accommodation meets all legal and statutory health and fire safety requirements
9. Work in close collaboration with the Maintenance team to ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and resolved.
10. To promote and encourage client participation in the Intensive Housing Management process and to act as advocate for clients when necessary.
11. This includes leading regular house meetings and encouraging clients to become ‘resident representatives’.
12. To document each visit to projects, detailing tasks undertaken, any changes that have occurred and other relevant information.
13. Manage antisocial behaviour and clients complaints in line with our Anti-Social Behaviour and Complaints procedures.

As a key member of the Fundraising Team, you will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, including programmes, communications and finance. Your excellent communication and relationship-building skills will be essential as you identify and assess partnership opportunities and ensure these are effectively passed to the relevant fundraising leads for cultivation and development as well as having ownership yourself in developing a portfolio of donors.

Key Responsibilities

• Prospecting and researching new trusts and corporate donors who align with Sense International’s mission and can support our work.
• Writing compelling grant applications and proposals to new potential donors.
• Working with the programmes team and Senior Trusts Manager to draft compelling funding reports for donors.
• Track and report on income, KPIs, and donor engagement activity.
• Support the delivery of our Big Give fundraising campaign to grow income and individual donor engagement.
• Manage our small group of eventers including London and Paris Marathons.
• Work with colleagues across fundraising, communications, programme delivery and finance to ensure consistent messaging and reporting.
• Supporting with other adhoc duties that may arise as requested by the CEO and Associate Director, including supporting other members of the Sense International team.

Manage an unrestricted annual mailing to small trusts and foundations to secure target 

Key skills and experience

• Experience in a fundraising, communications, or marketing role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Demonstration of developing excellent proposals, reports and supporter communications.
• Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to use own initiative.
• Be able to communicate and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and colleagues
• Ability to operate in a fast paced, multi-stakeholder environment – comfortable working across a diverse range of issues and campaigns simultaneously.
