The Royal Historical Society seeks to appoint an Events and Academic Engagement Officer (0.6 FTE) to join its professional Office based at University College London. The post will help support and develop the Society’s activities with a particular focus on  academic and training events, networking for members of the Society, and scholarly communications.

The Events and Academic Engagement Officer will lead for the RHS Office on the planning, organisation and successful running of all events (lectures, workshops, training, departmental visits and other formats) run by the Society, both in-person and online, working with other members of the Office and the Society’s governing Council.

As Academic Engagement Officer, the post-holder will be the first point of contact for selected holders of RHS research funding: overseeing and developing communication of project work for the benefit of the wider historical community. Academic engagement also involves a principal role in the communication and promotion of the Society’s work, and that of the wider historical profession

First Give inspires young people to make a difference to causes they care about. We work in partnership with secondary schools, providing a scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes, and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering) in support of them.

At the end of each programme, a celebratory School Final is held, where groups representing each class deliver presentations about their projects - with one group winning a First Give grant of £1,000 for their chosen charity.

Programme Delivery Officer role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our Programmes Team as a Programme Delivery Officer. PDOs are responsible for supporting and coordinating the delivery of First Give in up to 50 schools, ensuring smooth running of the programme, providing guidance and troubleshooting for the Lead Teachers.

The role is home-based, in Yorkshire, with regular travel to schools across the county and occasional forays to schools in the North-West. Several times a year travel will be required to London, where our office is based.

• Contract: 18-month FTC
• Salary: £26,840
• Location: Home-based, with travel as required

Key responsibilities

• Provide logistic and programme support to teachers delivering the First Give programme at their school, including but not limited to:
  • an introductory Programme Call with the Lead teacher;
  • delivering a briefing to class teachers;
  • troubleshooting via phone and email;
  • booking in First Give facilitated sessions
• Ensure all programmes are delivering all core elements of the First Give programme
• Update and monitor Salesforce to track programme delivery
• Liaise with freelance facilitators to ensure events at schools are effectively staffed
• Deliver Launch Assemblies, Workshops and First Give Finals in partner schools
• Collect data for monitoring (student surveys, teacher surveys, identifying potential stories of impact, writing programme reports)
• Ensure prompt delivery of any programme resources required by schools (including Coursebooks and other physical resources)
• Support in the collection and distribution of comms via social media, newsletters and other formats to raise awareness of First Give’s work
• Support with wider team projects as and when is necessary

Job description

The National Flood Forum is partnering Rochdale Borough Council to deliver one of 25 national projects comprising Defra’s Flood and Coastal Resilience and Innovation Programme (FCRIP) which is managed by the Environment Agency and runs until March 2027. The programme aims to test and create new, innovative approaches to flood and coastal resilience that can be adapted and rolled out more widely as good practice and new ways of delivering positive change.

Our project centres on two frequently flood affected and vulnerable neighbourhoods in the Roch Valley in Rochdale district The communities are complex and include a high incidence of social, economic and environmental disadvantage. It aims to develop a more holistic approach to flood and climate resilience with better management of residual flood risks through new, innovative cross-sectoral approaches that also address climate justice and both flood and fuel poverty. The project will deliver a step change in flood literacy and community participation, increase peoples’ capabilities to respond to flooding, improve flood and climate resilience of ageing housing stock, enhance surface water management, neighbourhood water conservation, natural flood risk management and local green infrastructure and develop better financial resilience for homes and businesses.

This is an exciting role for someone who has experience working at community grassroots or who is passionate about people and working with communities. The Role 

We are looking for a new Finance Assistant to support the financial operations of arts charity Art Explora UK on a part-time, remote basis. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is central to the smooth running of our financial systems and processes, ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately and on time. 
 
The Finance Assistant will maintain the Xero accounts system, process invoices and expenses, and prepare programme accounts on a monthly basis. They will also play a key role in setting up bank payments for approval, liaising with the external payroll provider, and overseeing pension contributions. 
 
The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident in managing multiple financial tasks simultaneously. They will be able to work independently while communicating clearly with colleagues, ensuring that the Head of Finance and the Director have accurate and up-to-date information. 
 
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is part-qualified, qualified by experience, or looking to build on existing finance skills within the charity/arts sector. You will bring a strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial reporting, combined with excellent accuracy and integrity in your work. 
 
As a small and collaborative team, we are looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and committed to supporting Art Explora’s mission of widening access to the arts. 

Key Responsibilities 

· Update and maintain Xero accounts system 

· Oversee all invoices per project, tracking and making payments 

· Set up bank payments for authorisation on a weekly basis 

· Produce programme accounts each month and send to the team 

· Generate monthly financial reports and quarterly management accounts (in agreed format)

· Process staff expenses and ensure accuracy 

· Liaise with external payroll provider to ensure payroll accuracy 

· Oversee pension contributions and ensure timely payments 

· Support the wider team with finance-related queries

We are recruiting for a Fundraising Officer to join our Fundraising team located within our Marketing team. The role will lead on programme-based funding, through trusts and foundations, and corporates. You will work closely with every team at Scottish Book Trust and across a diverse portfolio of funders and projects. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to learn and engage with our wider fundraising streams, to develop their skills across fundraising as a whole. Your experience and ideas can help shape the role and strategy, as we look to increase fundraising at Scottish Book Trust.

The Fundraising Officer (FO) will develop and maintain our Trusts and Foundations funding pipeline, which includes multiple five and six figure funders. You will be primarily responsible for researching potential funders, writing compelling fundraising applications, managing reporting requirements, and assisting with corporate sponsorships. The FO works closely with every team at Scottish Book Trust to fundraise for a range of literature, arts and education projects. The role will support the Fundraising Manager (FM) and Individual Giving Manager (IGM) to deliver our fundraising strategy and grow our charitable income across all funding streams.

Responsible for fundraising administration including gift processing and thanking, you will also support on fundraising events, impact story gathering, and donor stewardship where required. We are creating a new Senior Women’s Caseworker role to deliver tailored health advocacy and support to women experiencing homelessness.

You will:

• Provide one-to-one advocacy for around 35 women annually across 11 London boroughs.
• Attend approximately 250 healthcare appointments each year with clients.
• Deliver 20 women-only health promotion sessions, reaching around 100 women.
• Co-create three new resources on women’s health with clients for wider distribution.

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) are recruiting for a new Chief Executive .

BFT is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, we have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands. They demonstrate large scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace this alternative model for land use and conservation.

The charity’s previous Director has led the organisation for five years, and BFT are in a strong position, ready to develop a new organisational strategy and grow. This is a role of great strategic importance to the charity and the role is varied, with a broad remit.  

The Chief Executive role has organisational responsibility for 12 members of staff, some office based but most out and about across the countryside in which BFT works.  

As Chief Executive, you’ll bring proven senior leadership experience and the ability to get the best from staff and volunteers. A natural communicator, you’ll engage confidently with a wide range of people – from volunteers and donors to policymakers and conservation experts. 

You’ll have experience generating significant income in the not-for-profit sector, alongside strengths in strategic planning and programme development. Passionate about conservation, you’ll be an inspiring ambassador for Borders Forest Trust, able to share our impact and build lasting partnerships that help us achieve our vision. 

This role is hybrid based, with candidates being in the Head Office in Jedburgh (Scottish Borders) once or twice weekly, with other time spent out and about across the geography BFT covers.
