Purpose of the job

This role is responsible for the design of UK Youth’s support to young people, youth organisations and youth workers. This could include structured youth work programmes, funding and grants+ programmes, professional development programmes, and campaigns.

You will lead and oversee end-to-end design processes, ensuring that UK Youth develops fully packaged offers that respond to the evidence base and people’s needs, drive forward our strategy and achieve incredible impact. You will work across UK Youth teams, with external design partners, and meaningfully involving young people and the professionals who support them in the design process.

You will be experienced in developing high quality funding propositions (proactively and in response to new business opportunities). You will be confident in taking a human-centred design approach to tackle some of the youth sector’s knottiest problems.  You will design solutions to important problems, ensuring that they are feasible, equitable, impactful and scalable.

In 2026, our priority topics for youth work programmes and network development are: mental health and wellbeing, employability, social cohesion and community safety.

 As a leader, you will work closely with research, evaluation, policy, service delivery, network development, and fundraising teams. You will help to improve the skills and confidence of colleagues across UK Youth to apply design methods in their own work and collaborate effectively with the Design team.

Experience we're after

• Significant experience of leading and overseeing the development of new business propositions and proposals to time-limited funding opportunities

Purpose of the job 

 In UK Youth’s Impact department, we find, create and use evidence to respond to the needs and preferences of young people and the professionals who support them. We conduct research and evaluations to prove and improve the impact of youth work, and we co-design high-quality programmes and support offers that can be scaled. This new role will work across these areas, supporting research and evaluation projects with real implications for policy and practice. 

 Reporting to the Evaluation & Learning Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a portfolio of research and evaluation projects. This will involve conducting research in-house and coordinating with external partners and the organisations we fund to build and share high-quality evidence. There will be opportunities to lead on fieldwork, data analysis, reporting and insight sharing with strategic guidance and hands-on support from other members of the team. 

 You will be organised, keen to develop your research skills and have a passion for working with data. You will support high profile research and evaluation projects, including the evaluation of the Adventures Away From Home Fund – a major, Government-funded outdoor learning programme. You will play a key role in supporting our residents who have left prison and are based within a residential setting to reintegrate into the community. You will develop and engage with our residents to produce tailored support plans which support their individual needs in successful rehabilitation and reintegration within the community. You will identify their needs, goals and skills, and then support and motivate them to achieve their potential. The service holds a strong focus on public protection and effective risk management.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Mentor to join our team based in RBKC to support our residents who have multiple and complex needs which could include mental health, substance use, homelessness, and/or offending backgrounds. You will support in providing our residents with the support needed to help them overcome their personal barriers, and achieve their goals in a person centred approach. You will work within a residential setting, creating a safe and comfortable space which our residents can call their homes during their time within the service. The role includes:

• Supporting residents with daily tasks

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Officer to ensure the College meets its legal and regulatory compliance requirements as an educational establishment and a charity.  The focus of the role is to be responsible, with the support of the Training Administration team, for all reporting to regulatory bodies in a timely manner to ensure the College meets the requirements of the Office for Students (OfS), The Open University (OU), Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) and other regulatory bodies. The postholder will also take on the role of Data Protection Officer (DPO) within the organisation and ensure that the college processes all personal data in compliance with UK data protection legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for reporting internal information and meeting the reporting requirements of regulatory organisations – primarily the Office for Students (OfS), Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the Open University (OU), the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). This will be with the support of the Training Administration team and all other teams within the college.
• Collaborate with senior management and other department heads to ensure compliance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance relating to HR, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Prevent, Communications and Finance.
• Serve as the point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors
• Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies and senior management as needed and within required deadlines
• Use external student data systems – such as HESA / Salesforce
• Perform research to remain informed regarding higher educational and other compliance requirements  
• Monitor the College’s compliance and internal policies to ensure they are up to date with relevant legislation, and draft new policies when required.
• Perform risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and help the organisation understand compliance risk and scope
• Record findings accurately and follow up with senior management to ensure that issues are rectified 
• Conduct investigations to discover the root cause of compliance problems when they arise 
• Develop systems for data collection, tracking, managing and reporting

• As DPO, ensure all personal data and sensitive information is handled within the College according to UK GDPR guidelines
• Draft new and amend existing data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
• Serve as the main point of contact within the organisation for staff members, regulators, and relevant authorities on issues related to data protection, and provide advice as required.
• Maintain records of all data processing activities within the College
• Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues
• Train and advise all staff on compliance and GDPR regulations, how to meet, maintain and improve compliance requirements and the impact of non-compliance on the College. 
• Review College external communication, marketing materials, websites and presentations to ensure compliance with regulations

Working in a trauma-informed and psychologically informed environment, you’ll empower residents to achieve their goals and improve their well-being. This role involves working closely with residents during the night, conducting welfare checks, providing guidance, and responding to individual needs. You will ensure the smooth running of the night service by conducting welfare checks, supporting residents, and handling any issues that arise. The role includes completing administrative tasks and providing thorough handovers with day staff and managers to maintain consistent service.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme.
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room.
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively.

Delivery of Spear Career [20%]

• Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees.

Training the Asssistant Coach [10%]

• Contributing towards the training and developing of the Assistant Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback.

Trainee recruitment [10%]

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics.
