The Role
This is a work from home post and can be based remotely anywhere within the UK. There will be the need to travel to meetings in London occasionally and travel to our services across England and Scotland on an ad hoc basis.
As the newly appointed Business Development Finance Partner, you will work closely with the Head of Business Development and Director in identifying and evaluating new opportunities as well as working across the Organisation to support ongoing contract management and financial business management activities.
You will support our operational leadership across the UK to evaluate, monitor and review the financial aspects of new business opportunities, leading on financial elements of tenders and grants as well as contract management and risk appraisal processes.
The position provides an ideal opportunity for individuals with a strong finance background (qualified or part-qualified accountants) to develop and enhance their careers through transitioning into a business management role.

The purpose of the role is to drive and deliver our ambitious fundraising strategy in order to support the work of Life. The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for shaping and delivering the end-to-end experience of existing supporters as well as attaining new supporters.
Reporting to the Director of Income Generation and leading the Individual Giving Team, the post holder will work closely with colleagues across the fundraising and marketing teams to; create, test, monitor and evaluate appeals and campaigns, lead on Legacy (and in-memoriam giving) lottery and raffle and other income streams associated with individual giving. The post holder will be working to and reporting on ambitious income and expenditure targets and ensuring that supporters have a positive experience of the charity.
The postholder will lead a Donor Administration Manager to deliver on a positive donor/supporter experience with the aim of retention of current supporters for the long term as well as acquisition of new donors, maximising the potential of all of our supporters. The Peer Support Coordinator will play a critical role in the delivery of Day One's Peer Support Service. Reporting primarily to the Director of Finance and Resources and assisted by an external HR and Employment Law support service, this role will provide advice, guidance and support to all line managers in HR related matters whilst building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders throughout all levels of the organisation. This will include support to ensure the efficient and effective management, monitoring and reporting of people metrics, from recruitment, development, retention through to attrition and at all stages of the employee life cycle.
The role will also provide crucial executive support to the CEO and SLT of three Directors, to ensure the smooth operation of their responsibilities and co-ordinating efforts of various parties to ensure completion of key tasks and actions.

About you:
You will have at least 3 years’ experience of delivering HR support directly and facilitating line managers to deliver HR support. You will have a demonstrable understanding of employment law and the practical application of this, with experience of implementing HR administration and operational best practice for example, in the areas of recruitment, capability and performance management. You will help lead in creating an atmosphere of trust and an enabling environment where staff can contribute their best and develop their potential, which is critical for Day One as a young organisation.
You will have significant experience of providing proactive and responsive administrative assistance to senior staff and demonstrable experience of developing and managing effective administrative systems. Additionally, the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships through professional engagement and communication skills, both written and spoken, that are effective, empathetic and adaptable to different situations are key to this role.
You will be highly organised and responsive to others in a way that is both timely and professional with well-developed time management skills to manage competing priorities, ensure follow up of actions and meet deadlines whilst working under pressure. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is critical to this role, whilst maintaining strict confidentiality.

Background - Number Champions
We set up Number Champions in 2018 to transform the lives of children in state primary schools who struggle with numeracy or lack confidence in maths. We employed our first staff member, our Head of Operations (HoO), in 2022 and our second, an administrator, in 2023..
We are the only charity systematically working in-person with young children in our field. Early support will put children on track to achieve their full life potential in a world where some fluency with maths is an essential building block. Success in this one area can increase their self-esteem and their involvement in education as a whole.
Now in our sixth year, we are working across 14 London boroughs in 32 partner schools, with over 110 In-School Volunteers supporting more than 300 children. We plan to increase these numbers each year. Our medium-term vision is to expand across London, while maintaining the highly positive impact we have achieved to date.
We are proud to have received two national awards last year recognising the work of our volunteers, and we are currently shortlisted for a 2024 award.

The Administrator role
Our HoO has taken the lead in developing the charity and in giving us the capacity to expand further while maintaining quality of delivery. The administrator reports to the HoO and manages the bulk of the administration processes of the charity.
The role is for an equivalent of 2 days a week, during school term-time only. It will be almost all remote, although you will be expected to attend occasional meetings in Central London (or possibly North London if that is more convenient for you).
We intend the role to be permanent, but we are offering an 11-month contract September to July pending confirmation of funding.
Impact on the organisation
You will take on key responsibilities for administration and for contact with different groups of stakeholders. In a small professional team, you will have the opportunity to suggest ideas and to influence the development of the charity.
Core responsibilities
- Manage the administration processes of onboarding volunteers and schools
- Gather, capture, and maintain the charity’s data in our management system
- Communicate with volunteers and with office and finance staff at partner schools
- Raise invoices
- Manage basic bookkeeping
- Assist in purchasing
- Provide occasional cover for other staff, as required
- Other activities as required from time to time to support the HoO, SRM, and charity.

Basic bookkeeping experience is desirable but not essential.
Benefits
25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, prorated for a 2-day-a-week role.
(Although the role is for only 39 weeks a year we will pay you for 33 days annual holiday reduced only by 2/5 for working 2 days a week. This increases your take home pay by about 4% compared to also reducing holidays by 39/52 for weeks worked.)
Employer’s contribution to pension of 3%.

About the Role:
Victim Support (VS) is the leading independent charity in England and Wales for people who have been affected by crime and traumatic incidents. Understanding the experience and needs of victims and witnesses of crime is central to the charities' aims and vision.
As a Research & Lived Experience Officer you will have the opportunity to capture the voice of victims and promote evidence based recommendations to improve the experience of victims in the criminal justice system. You will be a part of a small but enthusiastic research team, while also having the opportunity to lead your own project.
You will have the opportunity to recruit participants and manage a Lived Experience Engagement Forum, and to regularly engage, build and maintain close relationships with the forum's participants. You will also need to conduct workshops/focus groups to collect feedback and insights from the participants on various products and procedures, and produce summaries of this feedback.
To be successful in the role you will need to have proven experience in recruiting vulnerable people to take part in research activities and conducting workshops or focus groups and interviews. Experience in writing and analysing surveys is an advantage. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently, as well as experience of working in partnership with various stakeholders. Having knowledge of victims of crime is desirable, but not essential.
