We are looking for an experienced CEO or senior charity manager, able to manage the business functions of a charity that is just starting out. You will have a proven track record of managing a small, prosocial organisation and setting up the systems necessary for success. You will have skills to work strategically, have business management skills, be able to lead and grow a team and work relationally.
As CEO an important goal will be to put the charity on a firm foundation for long-term sustainability. You will work with our fundraising consultant to ensure a steady income stream of core funding, ensuring financial stability for employees and building partnerships with local organisations to maximise impact and sustainability through collaborative work and partnership bids. This requires considerable, skilled networking and relationship-building, both within the Church’s Community Hub, with our existing partner VCFSE organisations and in the wider sector, including local Councils, PCNs and the ICB.
You will also be principally responsible for the organisation’s HR function, risk and compliance, as well as its monitoring and evaluation of impact (for quality assurance and fundraising purposes). This means ensuring best practice is observed and maintained in these and related areas, including line management, service policy, financial management, safeguarding and data privacy.
Knowledge and/or lived experience of mental health difficulties and the relevant support services/treatment modalities is essential; experience working within the mental health sector is highly desirable. We are seeking someone who is passionate about mental health and views this role as an exciting, long-term opportunity to make a significant difference to the lives of thousands of adults in Birmingham. The Community Inclusion Lead will have responsibility to develop and deliver the strategic direction of both the Community Inclusion and Education departments at Sale Sharks Foundation. This will include developing project/programs around disability and social inclusion, health and wellbeing and managing the Foundations Education department which focus’ on alternative provision and our Hitz program for 16–19-year-olds.
The role will have a focus on developing a range of provision across both Community Inclusion and Education. Priorities for this role will include securing funding, developing key internal and external relationships with partners, managing a diverse team of staff and monitoring and reporting on project/delivery impact. You will also be a key part of the Senior Leadership Team at Sale Sharks Foundation, reporting directly to the CEO and working with the rest of the SLT team to set the strategic direction of the department and wider foundation.
This is an exciting time for an experienced sport/community manager to join the Foundation and help us achieve our strategic direction goals across the community inclusion space.
Development
- Design, develop and lead on the development of new programmes and initiatives linked to Community Inclusion and Education.
- Work with department managers to ensure health and safety and programme procedures are in place across all Sale Sharks Foundation activities.
- Be one of the key points of contact and work closely with the Foundation’s funding consultant in identifying and writing bid applications.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of all Community Inclusion and Education programmes, ensuring staffing and resources are effectively managed.
- Working closely with the Safeguarding lead, to support the wider department with any safeguarding concerns, make sure to follow Sale Sharks Foundation protocols.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the CEO.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Keep clear, accurate records and data collection linked to all grants and commercial funding streams.
- Responsible for tracking and delivering against agreed KPI’s associated with grant funding.
- Design, deliver and ensure monitoring and evaluative feedback systems are in place for all programmes.
- Produce reports, analyse and present findings to grant and funding partners.
- Ensure that quality assurance of Sale Sharks Foundation Community Inclusion and Education activities, working with colleagues to ensure all materials are relevant and up to date.
- Support the creation of media information and case studies/good news stories to measure the impact of events and activities for the Foundation and relevant partners.
It is expected that the role may include working some evenings and weekends including match days. This will always be agreed in advance with time off in lieu offered.

About the role
The purpose of the Project Driver/Office Assistant role is to provide logistical support to the Anyim Maber Project, by driving staff and visitors when required, to ensure maintenance and safety of the project vehicle, and to complete clerical duties so that the office is running efficiently.
Further duties for the Project Driver/Office Assistant role include;
Driving tasks
- Undertake driving assignments for Sightsavers staff, project visitors and consultants as required.
- Provide logistical support to the Nwoya PIU
- Drive Sightsavers staff and visitors for project visits in the programme areas as required.
- Keep the project vehicle in clean condition, properly maintained and fuelled at the designated service stations.
- Ensure that vehicle logbooks are properly maintained and compile summaries on vehicle movements and fuel utilisation as per monthly vehicle reporting form.
- Maintenance of vehicles.
Administrative tasks
- Undertake courier or dispatch tasks and duties payment of bills, mail collection, delivery & distribution of letters.
- Receive and direct Uganda Country Office (UCO) visitors in absence of the Project Officer, providing information where needed.
- Respond to general requests to Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
- In liaison with Programme Coordinator, distribute send documents to Partners.
- Provide administrative support in filing, photocopying, and binding documents.
- Logistical support during field visits - play lead role, take photographs.
- Undertake logistics of programme workshops and meetings.

The role
The Programme and Evaluation Manager organises our music programmes: ongoing workshop series in detention centres and other settings, performances, special projects. So the role sits at the very centre of our work. Working closely with the Artistic Director, you will make Hear Me Out’s artistic programme a reality.
The main part of the job is to co-ordinate programme activities. This means you would need to:
- Liaise with settings, partners, artists and colleagues
- Match, book and support our artists
- Organise a mass of artistic and practical detail
- Work directly with people with lived experience of detention and asylum
- Understand the context and purpose of the work and what’s needed to make it succeed
We’re committed to evaluating our work. We want to know what difference it makes and what we can do better, so we ask participants to tell us what they think, and collect this data as we go along, to build up a picture of our impact. Organising this is an important part of the job. You’ll also lead some evaluation activities, such as focus groups with participants.
You’ll be the main point of contact for Hear Me Out’s freelance Associate Artists, supporting and supervising them as they lead music projects with adults and children, organising artist care and development activities, and helping bring people with lived experience into our artistic team.
Our programme is bigger than it has ever been, it has changed dramatically in the last few years in response to new challenges thrown up by the immigration system and we expect it will keep changing. So there will be lots of scope for you to make changes and develop new work.

We’re looking for someone with strong people skills and equally strong organisational skills. For the music-making to have its intended impact, you will need to have a real eye for fine detail, and lots of sensitivity and awareness of people and their needs, whether they are people going through the immigration system, or managers in detention centres and asylum hotels.
You’ll know something of our context, or be able to learn that quickly. You’ll be skilled at communicating with artists, colleagues and partners to ensure we have a shared, realistic plan. You’ll understand how the detail of artistic planning feeds through into outcomes. And you’ll be able to evaluate those outcomes in a systematic way.
We are a small team, and most of us work part-time. You’ll need to work independently, co-operate and communicate consistently, and adapt readily when things change. You’ll need to be available on Wednesdays (our ‘team day’), and sometimes to work evenings and weekends.

Overview of the Role
As Communications Director, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Crisis Action’s unique model of campaigning by driving maximum innovation and impact in our campaigns; communicating Crisis Action’s story in new and compelling ways to our diverse network of partners and donors; and by building allies and creative coalitions globally. We are looking for an exceptional changemaker who is an all-in-one storyteller, strategic communicator, newshound, and mentor, with the ability to ensure maximum innovation and impact in our campaigns and communications for the protection of civilians from conflict.
This is not a typical Communications Director role. We do not want our profile raised: in fact, while keeping us entirely behind the scenes, you will help our campaign teams and partners develop and deliver ever-more creative, strategic, and digitally aware campaigns that can achieve cut-through in a dramatically changing geopolitical landscape.
Our new Communications Director will be a seasoned communications professional with a strong understanding of the media landscape, but also an experienced changemaker with the soul and energy of an activist.
