Job description

Head of Talent
Location:
Birmingham, B15 1LZ
Salary: £90,306 per annum
Hours: 35 per week
Term: Permanent

Our tenants come first, second and third. Our new Corporate Plan “Tenants at Heart” sets out our vision: to provide quality, affordable homes across the Midlands and deliver the very best professional landlord services. To make that vision a reality, we need exceptional people – today and for the future. That's where you come in.

As our new Head of Talent, you'll play a pivotal role in making sure we have the leadership, skills and capability to deliver on our promises to tenants. You'll lead a talented team covering talent development, training and early careers – shaping and delivering a forward-thinking talent and organisational development strategy.

Reporting to our Director of People, your role will include but won't be limited to:

  • Building robust succession pipelines for critical roles, ensuring we have the leaders and specialists to meet the challenges of our sector.
  • Developing and leading delivery of our early careers programmes, including our new graduate and paid internship schemes; supporting the establishment region's first Housing Skills Academy, inspiring the brightest talent to see housing as a career of choice.
  • Working with senior leaders and HR colleagues to embed a performance culture, where every colleague understands how their role contributes to our tenants' experience.
  • Deliver targeted learning and development to build the skills needed to achieve our Corporate Plan's four pillars: modern homes, quality services, financial resilience, and one team working together for our tenants.

About you: You'll be a strategic people leader with a track record of developing talent pipelines that support business growth and transformation. You'll bring:

  • Chartered CIPD status (or equivalent), with evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience of translating organisational priorities into successful talent development strategies.
  • Experience of leading teams and delivering large-scale development programmes.
  • Extensive experience of designing and delivering an early careers programme, aligned to the future skills of the business.
  • A collaborative style, able to build strong relationships across the organisation and with external partners.

Who are Midland Heart? We're one team working together for our tenants. We welcome people from every walk of life, at every stage of their career. We expect a lot from our people but in return you can be assured of a great place to work, where you will be well rewarded and where great people are able to succeed. Whether you want to build your career with us, or use your experience to move on, we're here to develop your potential.
