Main Purpose of the Role
The Director is the strategic and operational lead of NRTF, responsible for the organisation’s vision, management, performance, and long-term sustainability. Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. Our Global Strategy marks a significant evolution in our organisational direction, introducing innovative approaches and renewed priorities. Key duties
Major Donor Fundraising
• Successfully develop and implement the philanthropy strategy to secure and maximise funds from high value individuals for Action for ME achieving annual income of £250k+
• Set plans and budgets which will deliver income through major gift fundraising and philanthropic giving through family trusts and foundations, including quarterly forecasting.
• Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors at the £5k to £100k level, to develop and maintain strong and long-standing partnerships

About the Role
The role involves working with sensitive and potentially traumatic subject matter and occasional travel to attend meetings will be required.
As Head of Witness Service Learning and Development, you will:
- Lead the design and delivery of a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned with our values and culture.
- Champion trauma-informed, safeguarding-focused, and accessible learning across the service.
- Oversee and support onboarding induction and development for staff and volunteers, ensuring swift and effective deployment.
- Inspire and manage a dispersed L&D team, fostering high performance and innovation.
- Drive continuous improvement through data, evaluation, and quality assurance.
- Manage external learning providers and ensure value for money.
- Embed a learning culture across the Witness Service and contribute to broader people strategies.
- Develop an external learning arm to generate income and promote the Witness Service.
Key Deliverables:
- Delivery of impactful learning projects and plans
- Year-on-year improvement in workforce competence and service quality
- Implementation of a national L&D strategy
- Creation of income-generating external learning programmes
You will need:
- Proven experience as an L&D Manager or equivalent
- Expertise in designing and delivering diverse learning interventions
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Budget management and financial accountability
- Knowledge of adult learning, funding landscapes, and regulatory frameworks
- Emotional intelligence, empathy, and the ability to influence and inspire
- Qualifications- Degree-level education or relevant equivalent experience; learning & development qualification such as CIPD & evidence of continual professional development
