We are looking for a savvy and adaptable finance and business operations manager to support our charity with financial management, HR operations, governance and office management.

You will be an experienced manager with strong all-round finance capabilities, driven to ensure robustness and efficiency across all elements of our finance, HR and governance in a busy charity setting.

You will be adept at managing multiple income streams in a complex environment, enjoy supporting Trustees and colleagues in day to day financial management and HR processes as well as working with the Head of Finance and Leadership team on strategic finance and business planning discussions, providing relevant and up to date financial and HR information, taking responsibility for the charity’s day to day accounting and business operation functions.

We are a local charity that enables people and organisations to get involved, helping to build strong and vibrant communities in Buckinghamshire.   

We do this by helping people find volunteering opportunities, advising charities and other not-for-profit groups on all aspects of running an organisation, and directly supporting those most in need in the community.  

The Role 

The purpose of the Finance and Business Manager is to provide the necessary professional expertise to enable the Charity to successfully execute its strategy and achieve its objectives on time and within budget, while exceeding stakeholder expectations.  

The role will be responsible for:  

• Ensuring sound financial and governance procedures and control.
• Overseeing the management of the charity’s internal business operations, including payroll, HR and premises.  
• Line managing the Finance and Operations assistant.   
• Maintaining and developing a sound system of financial management and control, working closely with the Head of Finance.  
• Working alongside budget managers to ensure that they have a full understanding of financial information to enable them to make informed decisions.  
• Leading on day-to-day financial operations including management accounting, timely issue of invoices to clients and funders and collection of receipts, cash flow management, managing investments, VAT, overseeing petty cash, company credit cards, donations and payments, gift aid recovery and purchase invoices.  
• Overseeing the management of the charity’s internal business operations, including payroll, HR and premises.
• Overseeing the implementation of effective HR and recruitment procedures, record-keeping and staff development. 
• Advising on budget drafting and resourcing for new activity and funding bids, including developing and implementing the full cost recovery model.

About the role

Our Participation and Involvement Manager will build on existing practice across the organisation and lead on the implementation and further development of a participation and involvement framework, enabling a large and diverse range of kinship carers to share their views and expertise meaningfully, safely and effectively to shape Kinship’s activity. It will also support our growing participation and involvement activity which involves children, young people and young adults with experience of growing up in kinship care.

You will work closely with kinship carers and colleagues across the organisation to understand the key challenges and opportunities with embedding participatory methods, including co-production and co-design, which improve Kinship’s work – right from the design and delivery of our advice and support services through to influencing policy and campaigning for change.

With support from colleagues, you will act as the key cross-organisational adviser on participation and involvement practice, supporting and empowering colleagues to develop the skills and knowledge they need to embed a consistent approach to the involvement of kinship carers to best suit the needs of their roles.

As an enthusiastic and engaging facilitator, and an advocate for participatory methods, you will sensitively and skillfully work alongside kinship carers and colleagues to deliver high quality involvement activity which supports the charity’s mission and aims. You will also be an experienced project manager, ensuring all activity is appropriately monitored and evaluated, and aligned with best practice around equality and diversity, remuneration, safeguarding and governance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Refine and further develop an existing organisational participation and involvement framework which supports staff to meaningfully, safely and effectively involve kinship carers in their work.
• Design and implement a plan to embed effective practice based on the framework across Kinship, building a positive organisational culture and providing appropriate training, upskilling and support to colleagues to ensure consistency of delivery and experience for kinship carers.
• Lead a cross-organisational working group of people with relevant lived, learned and professional experiences to support and advise on embedding high-quality participation and involvement activity.
• Work closely with colleagues across the whole organisation to understand their bespoke needs, strengths and requirements around implementing participatory methods in their day-to-day work, and develop strategic relationships with colleagues in areas with more extensive existing participatory or adjacent activity (e.g. research, volunteering).
• Develop and recruit a network of people with lived experience interested in being more intensively involved in participatory activities, with a focus on increasing the diversity of people working with us.

Essential experience includes:

• Experience managing and leading the delivery of participation or involvement activity with people with lived experience of social issues.
• A commitment to meaningful participation and involvement activity, including a nuanced understanding of the individual and organisational opportunities and challenges associated with this.
• Knowledge of models, methodologies and approaches used in high quality participation and involvement activity, and strong skills in creative facilitation – particularly with groups.
• An understanding of kinship care and how this may impact on kinship carers’ involvement with Kinship and our activity.
• Experience of effective project management with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

How you will make a difference

As Senior Programme Officer, I will support the Head of Commercial Insight & Development to ensure Mental Health UK delivers high quality projects and programmes that:

In alignment with SPANA's 2023-2027 strategy and the Global Programmes Department 2025 business plan, the Programme Quality and Delivery (PQD) team is focused on the development of a high quality, innovative portfolio that delivers immediate and lasting change for working animals. 

We are looking for an experienced senior consultant to provide interim strategic support and continuity to our PQD team during a transitional period whilst we recruit for a permanent Head of PQD.

The Finance Manager role is a newly created role which is being introduced to strengthen the organisation’s financial management and control systems. The postholder will work across the breadth of the finance function preparing internal management accounts and external annual accounts.

In 2024, Cord changed its finance system to use Business Central. The Finance Manager will become the organisation’s main ‘admin’ user of the finance system. In the near-term, there will be a particular focus on rolling out further functionality of the system and developing financial policies and procedures. 

The Finance Manager will have oversight of the UK finance function through the line management of the UK Finance Officer and will directly deliver on the international side of operations in the areas of donor compliance, programme financial management, partner financial monitoring, and reporting. The role will involve travel to international programme locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• To support the Head of Operations to provide finance team leadership, develop and deliver an annual finance workplan to ensure continual improvement, and to drive finance capacity across the organisation

What you'll bring as our Legacy Manager :

Knowledge

• Experience of developing and managing a mixed Legacy and In-Mem Marketing portfolio.
• Experience of stewarding legacy prospects to become pledgers
• Excellent knowledge of GDPR, Fundraising Regulator guidelines, and other fundraising standards.
• A good understanding of working across a variety of fundraising channels; including digital, email, social media, direct mail, telemarketing, and SMS.
• A good understanding of using Charity CRMs.
• Proven record of managing agencies
• Proven track record of planning and delivering events
• A proven track record of delivering successful legacy and in memory fundraising programmes
• Understanding of UK legacy and in memory giving market including future trends and direction.
• Ability to report and analyse online and offline campaigns, including interpreting results, applying learnings and making recommendations to increase income.
• Ability to design, develop and deliver training and development activities for both staff and volunteers.
• Proven track record of delivering legacy cultivation events

Skills

• An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, and able to build and develop strong working relationships across an organisation.
• Strong public speaking skills and experience of speaking at events for volunteers and supporters .
• A self-motivator with excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and deliver multiple projects to schedule.

Experience

• At least 5 years’ fundraising experience especially in legacy and in memory fundraising
• Experience of integration of legacy & in memory fundraising promotion across an organisation
• Experience of working in a dispersed charity with operational volunteers
• Experience of working with volunteers in a fundraising capacity.
• Experience or understanding of the nature of home/remote working.

Are you a passionate and proactive fundraiser eager to play a pivotal role in transforming education opportunities for children through locally powered change? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

With outstanding relationship-building and stewardship skills, you’ll work collaboratively with the AfriKids team in northern Ghana and the UK to identify and steward our committed and passionate supporters in the UK and internationally.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, and part of a small but ambitious fundraising team, you will manage our relationships with many of AfriKids existing and prospective major and mid-level donors, as well as have oversight of our small individual giving and community & events programmes.

Your role will focus on building existing relationships, developing stewardship plans, identifying and researching prospects and forming proposals. You’ll work closely with our Communications Manager to develop bi-annual appeals to our donors, securing match funding opportunities and developing engaging asks. You’ll also work to build a legacy giving ask, and explore other fundraising opportunities relevant to our target audience.

You will play a key role in supporting the development of the team’s fundraising strategy, using your experience and knowledge of the fundraising landscape to help us devise an ambitious but sustainable plan to expand and safeguard our work into the future.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage a new programme and campaign focused on bringing children and young people's voices and experiences into a key public debate. 

The programme is about working alongside young people to explore new ways to understand and tackle misogyny.

• At least five years' experience across both public affairs and campaigning roles working with the Westminster government and parliament.

My Life Films is an award-winning charity that uses film and TV to enrich and support the lives of people living with dementia and their carers. My Life TV is our specialist on-demand streaming service, specifically designed to meet the cognitive needs of people living with dementia, for use within care settings and at home.

My Life Films is seeking a Finance Manager to ensure the organisation is compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements with regards to the main charity and its subsidiary. The post-holder is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the organisation’s finances, including accurate reporting and maintenance and development of financial systems and processes that are fit for purpose.

You will have plenty of autonomy to manage your workload and diary, and to succeed in this role you will need to be a self-starter with plenty of enthusiasm and drive. You will be part of a small, dynamic team, who work very collaboratively and supportively.

Key Responsibilities – include but not limited to
 • Ensure that appropriate financial policies and procedures are in place to deliver effective financial management to guide the organisation’s financial decision making
• Complete and submit information to Companies House and the Charity Commission as required by statutory regulations and requirements
• Maintain appropriate accounting systems, control and records, ensuring compliance with statutory and related accounting and tax regulations and requirements
• Process monthly payroll and pensions and oversee VAT and corporation tax returns by external accountants
