Purpose of the role

To deliver and develop the Day One Casework bedside model to patients, or those closest to them, impacted by serious or multiple injuries which could result in life changing consequences, such as disability or death, predominantly within Northern General Hospital, Sheffield but also in other hospital settings or Trusts as required. 

To have a visible physical presence within the Trust and become embedded into clinical teams focussing on the major trauma pathways.

To work closely with those impacted by catastrophic injury, taking referrals and carrying out initial assessments of need, expertly navigating, signposting and putting services in place in the immediate aftermath of major trauma, including talking about and facilitating early access to legal support to aid rehabilitation.

To establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders to promote Day One and address the needs of those affected by catastrophic injury. 

To work as part of the wider Day One Service’s team and organisation, taking responsibility for own record keeping and data collection in line with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities 

The post holder’s primary duties and responsibilities are as follows: 

• Work closely, and in partnership, with NHS clinical staff and relevant community and voluntary sector organisations, to address the needs of patients, and those closest to them, affected by catastrophic injury. 

• Operate a case management approach to individuals, assessing and identifying needs, putting support in place including signposting, making referrals and direct support. 

• Provide consistency in assessment of all patients, irrespective of injury cause, age, status, giving access to the earliest possible specialist legal advice which supports rehabilitation and NHS cost recovery. 

• Maintain detailed case records, including accurate records of activity and intervention, using Day One’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, capturing and storing data in line with Day One policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. 

• Implement processes and procedures to collect patient and family feedback and contribute to ongoing monitoring and evaluation of Day One services through providing relevant information, case studies and reports. 

• Build awareness of the role and charity’s purpose through building strong and effective relationships across the regional major trauma network, ensuring those who need it have access to Day One support. 

• Work closely with local authority, statutory and voluntary organisations to provide patient and family support and advocacy. 

• Help establish other support mechanisms once a person is no longer within the hospital setting, supporting the patient discharge process in conjunction with leadership from NHS staff. 

• Identify and support the recruitment and supervision of Day One volunteers, where appropriate. 

• Support the roll out of our Peer Support Service, focussed on promoting awareness and uptake within the region. 

• Work closely with the wider team on performance, quality, safety and effectiveness of all services, ensuring appropriate safeguarding policies are followed. 

• Work closely with our Fundraising and Communications team, supporting national activity, as well as regional initiatives to raise awareness and fundraise. 

• Be prepared to travel across the region and, on occasion, to other sites and national meetings as required. 

• Willingness to undertake continuous development and training for the role, including mandatory Day One and NHS Trust specific training.

Main Activities

Line Management:

Budgets:

Discrete project and campaign delivery:

• Manage key fundraising projects or campaigns in a timely manner

• Manage junior staff members or temp workers to deliver projects or campaigns effectively and within the designated timescale
• Develop and deliver fundraising campaigns or projects using appropriate project management tools, including but not limited to the CRM system

Strategy:

• Support the Head of Income and Engagement and the SLT in developing the

As a Store Manager you will manage the day to day running of our Newark Store, leading a team of colleagues to maximise store sales and profits. Fuel expenses are paid, and travel time is included as part of your working hours. Core delivery time is usually within the school working day and during school term time only. All other working hours can be managed with flexibility by the post holder to ensure that meetings with partners and colleagues, plus administrative tasks, are completed as required. You will be expected to work at least four days a week.

The UK government’s resettlement programmes (such as the UKRS, ARAP as well as other UK Resettlement Schemes) support refugees who are selected and processed in the region of origin and brought to the UK with their status already determined. The Refugee Council resettlement team provides advice and support for resettled refugees to help them adjust to live in the UK, access services and mainstream provision and establish community links. The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. They happen across the UK and around the world, both online and in person. Our events add to the impact of our work in tropical medicine and global health, but also raise funds to allow us to continue our work as a charity.

The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events. The candidate needs to have excellent communication and relationship building skills, and to be organised, flexible with a great attention to detail. Person specification

• Professional and articulate
• Degree level education or relevant proven work experience
• At least 3 years proven track record of managing and delivering in person and online events including selecting and negotiating agreements with suppliers, drawing up cost and income budgets, delivering events and monitoring and evaluating their success
• Strong experience of working with a CRM system
• Experience of running online events, with knowledge of variety of platforms
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Evidence of working with events committees and managing suppliers to deliver events
• Strong budget management experience including forecasting, and planning
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach and mind-set
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Brilliant time management and task prioritisation skills
• Evidence of working with team and Board members
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Can-do attitude to take ownership of events
• Relationship building skills, being able to inspire others and bring them with you
• Passion for RSTMH and its work
• Reliable team player – able to identify areas of interaction with other activities of our work, and able to work with team to increase success
• Willingness to work unsocial hours as required, and to undertake travel outside of London and the UK, with reasonable notice
• Motivation to hit the ground running
