BACKGROUND

Ashiana is a ‘by and for’ women led BME VAWG service with 30 years’ experience in delivering a holistic range of specialist services to South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women affected by Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG).

OUR SERVICES

Ashiana runs three refuges with a total of 29 bedspaces; specifically for women aged 16-35 fleeing forced marriage. This multi award winning project is the only service of its kind in the UK and is highly innovative in terms of addressing an area of significant need not met in other refuge provision. Within these refuges we designate a number of bedspaces for women with no recourse to public funds. We offer an advice and support service to women and girls who are experiencing VAWG, enabling them to make informed decisions and exit violent relationships. We provide a legal service supporting women with no recourse to public funds to help resolve their immigration status.

Counselling is offered for women and girls affected by VAWG. The counselling service works from an integrative stance, with the focus of providing a holistic service whereby we also work alongside other services and provide specialist domestic violence group work. The emphasis of therapeutic work with our clients is from a trauma informed model.

We also deliver an education programme for young people in secondary schools in East London aimed at preventing domestic violence and enabling young people experiencing domestic violence to access appropriate services. The prevention service includes delivering a whole school approach in schools to young people as well as group work to women and girls across North East London boroughs as well as community engagement activities and delivery. We deliver a range of awareness raising workshops for young people in the community and training on domestic violence for professionals in the voluntary and statutory sector.

PRIMARY TASK:

The post is instrumental in overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive package of services and care for women in our refuges. To provide a safe environment and a service that is appropriate to the needs of young BME women particularly those from South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern communities and to support ex-clients following resettlement.

The post holder will have a caseload of clients and be responsible for providing advice, advocacy, casework and support to women and girls, advocating on behalf of these women and making others aware of their particular needs. The post-holder is required to demonstrate sensitivity and an awareness of the culture and needs of minoritised communities in all aspects of their duties and responsibilities.

Connect: North Korea is a fast-growing charity supporting North Korean escapees to build new lives after experiences of systemic discrimination, poverty, and trauma.

Our organisational income has grown consistently year on year since we registered in 2018. We now have a series of multi-year grants in place ensuring that 42% of our income for 2026 is already secured. AFRIL is recruiting for an experienced, dynamic Senior Caseworker to join our growing Casework Team. The successful candidate will provide advice and casework to asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in South East London on matters relating to housing and homelessness, welfare benefits, NRPF support, community care and asylum support. The candidate has the exciting opportunity to lead on the delivery of AFRIL's Casework Drop-in for asylum seekers and recently granted refugees, supported by a Caseworker and Outreach Volunteers. About the Role and Objectives:

Developing and growing relations with supporters, donors, public, foundations, and corporate friends. Passionate and well organized, you will change the world for animals by ensuring every department’s work is fully funded – as well as the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, South Africa, home to our rescued lions and tigers. Duties:

• Production of annual fundraising and marketing plan: growing supporter base, increasing engagement and retention; sustained giving; digital and postal direct response; increasing donor engagement and retention; planned giving; special events/calendar dates; major gifts; foundation grants; corporate support; legacies, trusts, estates; new income research. Action Tutoring is the largest tutoring charity in the country. At the heart of our work is closing the attainment gap for pupils facing disadvantage in the UK by harnessing the power of tutoring. We are seeking an inspiring and strategic Interim Chief Executive Officer (maternity cover) to lead our growing charity, ensuring the charity continues to achieve benchmark-beating results for the pupils we support. In 2025-26, our work will reach 7,000 pupils supported by more than 80 staff and 2,500 volunteer tutors.  This role would suit someone with experience of interim senior leadership roles, wanting to make a difference in an area with proven impact on outcomes for children and young people.

About the role

The Restart Project is a year into our five year strategy. We have a bold vision, clear finance and communications strategies and an outline fundraising strategy, developed with support from our trustees. Our vision and track-record has helped us to secure a number of multi-year grants, and now is the time to build on this work. 

We’re looking for a driven, organised and creative Fundraising and Partnerships Lead to help us diversify our income, expand our funding relationships, and build on our financial sustainability.  With a focus on generating income from corporate partnerships and Trust and Foundation fundraising, you will also support our efforts to generate income from a diverse range of areas. 

You will build out our pipeline of funding leads, including building and managing new and existing relationships.  Much of this will include securing funding from traditional sources and supporting efforts to boost unrestricted income. 

You will also have the opportunity to be innovative in pursuing funding for the organisation. This will involve working with the Co-Directors and other team members to develop and secure funding for exciting new projects. Responsible for expanding income within an underfunded sector, creativity and drive will be essential characteristics.

Job Description

Fundraising strategy 

• Build on our existing finance strategy and outline funding plan to create a robust fundraising strategy for the next 2-3 years.

• Work with the broader team to achieve the goals and targets set out in the finance strategy to support Restart’s overall operational strategy.

• Develop and manage a 12 month rolling fundraising pipeline, including regular horizon scanning. 

• Work with team members to ensure Restart’s impact is well communicated to potential donors.

• Work with our fundraising committee, a sub group of our trustee board, to help shape our future fundraising strategy.

Corporate partnerships

• Secure income from corporates by boosting Restart’s visibility and increasing the frequency of high value donations.

• Create corporate sponsorship packages to secure income for existing Restart activities or projects, as well as general organisational sponsorship, and pitch them to a pipeline of corporates. 

• Work with the Co-Directors and other staff to develop funded corporate or other partnerships around innovative projects that will support Restart’s strategy.

• Research, pitch and secure opportunities for Charity of the Year affiliations.

• Ensure that partnerships are managed well, with good reporting and value for partners to ensure retention. 

Trusts and Foundations 

• Be responsible for submitting bids, tracking and reporting on outcomes with the support of our Operations and Finance Lead.

• Help broaden our pool of funders, including building and maintaining relationships made through allies, and networking with funds that don’t accept unsolicited proposals.

New sources of income

• Support the team to develop income from other sources. This will include matched crowdfunding, paid events and consultancy.
