As part of our small People team, you will play a key role in developing and embedding proactive business partnering support for directors and senior managers, ensuring that we have the right capabilities, data, policies and processes in place to deliver our new strategy.

 

Job Purpose

The People Business Partner will provide operational and strategic HR support to directors and senior managers, working closely with the Interim Head of People. This will involve working collaboratively with senior managers to provide advice and insight, supporting managers to develop and maintain high performing teams. The People Business Partner will provide support at all stages of the employee lifecycle, often navigating sensitive and complex issues with professionalism and sensitivity.

This role will also support the Interim Head of HR to embed policies, procedures and processes that meet the needs of a small, commercial charity, whilst reflecting employment legislation and good practice. This will involve reviewing the Bamboo HR system to ensure that it is configured to meet the charity’s needs.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnering

• Act as a trusted advisor, supporting managers in decision making, performance management, employee engagement, and team development.
• Provide data and insight on people issues and recommend appropriate interventions.

· Provide advice to managers on HR policies and procedures. Guide and coach managers through HR processes such as performance improvement plans, absence management, and probation reviews etc.

· Support the Interim Head of People to create and develop HR workstreams, templates, and guidance to ensure the HR processes are consistent and compliant.

Employee Relations and Casework

• Work alongside the Interim Head of People by advising managers to manage complex employee matters through to conclusion in a proactive, efficient and professional manner.
• Support with investigations and provide recommendations and solutions in line with the charity’s values, policies and legislation.
• Support on conflict resolution, mediation, and fostering positive workplace relationships.

Recruitment and Onboarding

· Work with hiring managers and the senior leadership teams to ensure effective, inclusive and values-based recruitment.

· Support the Recruitment and Training Specialist to create and develop the charity’s recruitment process, including the development of templates and forms.

· Support managers to strategically plan their resource and capability requirements and support the Head of People to review these holistically across the charity.

· Work with managers to ensure consistent and effective onboarding of new starters and to ensure that probation periods are managed effectively.

Data and Compliance

· Support the Interim Head of People to ensure that the charity remains compliant with employment law, safeguarding, and CQC Quality Standards. Ensure that the Bamboo HR system is updated to demonstrate compliance.

· Support the Interim Head of People to review the configuration of the Bamboo HR system and associated reporting, ensuring that it meets the needs of the charity. Liaise with software providers to make changes as needed.

· Provide organisational data and insight for strategic decision-making and onward reporting to the Board of Trustees. Identify and investigate trends, propose solutions.

Person Specification

Essential:

· CIPD Level 5 qualified (working toward Level 7).

· Experience working in the charity sector.

· Substantial experience in an HR advisory or business partnering role.

· Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations practices.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Experience supporting change management and organisational development.

· Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and relationship-building skills.

· Strong coaching skills with the ability to support and challenge constructively.

The role

We’re seeking an Individual Giving Officer to join our creative and fast-paced Individual Giving team following a promotion within the team! This is a great opportunity for someone looking to take their first step into a career in Individual Giving fundraising, or to expand your existing knowledge into more areas of Individual Giving in a varied role. 

This is an exciting time to join Pancreatic Cancer UK. With an ambitious five-year strategy to double both our income and survival rates, Individual Giving is a key focus in achieving this goal, so you’ll play an important role in acquiring and stewarding donors – helping ensure that everyone with pancreatic cancer can live long and well. We’re passionate about delivering it, but we can’t do it alone. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

• Supporting the delivery of acquisition and retention campaigns and optimising supporter journeys for our priority audiences across a range of channels, including digital, direct mail and telemarketing. 
• Ensuring we meet our ambitious income targets by supporting on key income streams including regular giving, in memory, cash, gaming and the online shop.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Support the team with key administrative processes to ensure effective stewardship of our supporters. 

About You 

• Previous experience in an Individual Giving role or similar fundraising position, with a good working knowledge of fundraising best practice, having supported a range of campaigns. 
• Can work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, managing conflicting deadlines and being proactive in raising risks and concerns.  
• Ability to work cross-team, building effective relationships with internal teams and external suppliers. 
• Strong communication skills when liaising with supporters to provide an audience-first experience.

ROLE SUMMARY 

It is an exciting time to join the team, with income growing year on year and an increasing awareness of our brand through activities such as the recent Radio 4 Charity Appeal. We have ambitious plans and the Head of Fundraising will make a significant contribution to future growth; you will manage the Fundraising and Events team with oversight of income generation from various sources including major donors, individuals, trusts & foundations and a portfolio of events.

The role will suit innovative individuals with experience of fundraising from major donors and at least one of the other specified income streams, and event planning or project management. 

You will represent upReach externally, acting as an ambassador for our work and building strategic relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will be accountable for income targets, developing the fundraising strategy and identifying new opportunities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head of Fundraising will contribute to upReach's mission by meeting financial targets, recognising when to make the fundraising ‘ask’ and leading the annual budget process. You will use clear, creative written communication to produce convincing cases for support, represent the charity at relevant networking events, work closely with the upReach Development Board and act as an ambassador for the organisation.

Reporting to the Director of Income Generation and External Engagement you will manage three direct reports and support individuals participating in the Future Charity Leaders Programme (upReach’s graduate scheme). You will work closely with  the Head of Partnerships, CEO, Programmes and Finance teams and other colleagues across the income generating and external engagement team.

The core responsibilities include: 

Leadership and strategy 

• Lead fundraising and philanthropy to realise financial targets (2025/26: £2.45m).

• Securing 5 and 6 figure gifts. 

• Inspire staff and volunteers to excel and achieve, champion the upReach values.

• Commit to the annual appraisal process and develop stretching, SMART OKRs (objectives and key results) to meet our strategic goals. 

• Deputise for the Director in their absence and play an key role in the Income Generation & External Engagement Leadership Team.

• Lead the strategic and operational planning process for the functional areas of responsibility and ensure the involvement of relevant stakeholders. 

• Keep abreast of developments, changes in trends, new techniques and legislation. 

• Ensure planned activity is delivered in compliance with relevant charity law, other legislation, best practice and corporate policy.

• Act as a senior sounding board to ensure strategic decisions regarding donors and funders resonate with our objectives and mission.

• Contribute to strategic thinking including risk management and mitigation.

• Collate and present timely monthly management reports for each income stream.

• Lead the annual budget and financial forecasting processes to facilitate reporting and  strategic-decision making.

Working with stakeholders (internal and external) 

• Collaborate with colleagues to identify and secure all various income generating and profile raising opportunities, ensuring maximum impact and contribution from funders. 

• Lead, champion and model a culture of outstanding donor stewardship and supporter care; including best practice and behaviour. 

• Develop and foster effective relationships with key external contacts at all levels, e.g. donors, supporters, suppliers. 

• Make the fundraising ‘ask’ as and when appropriate, or support others to do so.

• Respond promptly to requests for information and action from supporters.

• Report and disseminate the key issues to emerge from supporter feedback. 

• Manage the complaints procedures for the department and conduct full investigation of all complaints received by the department.

Developing, maintaining systems and procedures 

• Determine and manage the operating systems needed to deliver activity and enable effective donor, supporter and volunteer relationship management. 

• Effectively develop the donor journey.

• Ensure records in the CRM are up to date.

• Conduct analysis of data from across functions responsible for, drawing conclusions, making recommendations to the Director. 

• Ensure the management of systems and processes comply with the organisation’s data protection obligations, charity law and other legal requirements.

People Management and Team Working

• Recruit and lead the Fundraising team, rotatees and volunteers as required.

• Ensure upReach promotes a high performance culture and professional integrity.

• Continue to develop the skills and knowledge of you and your team to ensure you are up-to-date with changing regulation and fundraising best practices.

• Lead and model the implementation of business improvement and people development initiatives including training and rotations.

• Collaborate with colleagues across the department and organisation.

Major Donors and Individuals

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies to grow income, including an annual appeal. 

• Work with the CEO, nurture relationships with donors including high net worth individuals maintaining the highest level of donor care.

• Research, identify and engage prospective donors to secure 5 and 6 figure gifts.

• Lead the team to grow and develop the burgeoning major donor portfolio. 

• Work with the Alumni Team to identify opportunities to sustainably grow the individual giving pipeline, including beneficiaries. 

• Develop a legacies strategy and oversee delivery of awareness campaigns.

Events

• Lead the team on the delivery of a sector-leading events portfolio, to include income-generating events, and the Student Social Mobility Awards (SSMA’s).

• Engage, steward and motivate key stakeholders including the Development Board, Patrons, potential event committee members and other high value volunteers to grow our network and deliver successful fundraising events.

Trusts, Foundations & Corporates

• Oversight of Trusts, Foundation & Corporate fundraising strategy.

• Work with the Senior Fundraising Manager to identify and build relationships with Companies, Trusts and Foundations which are mission and/or programme aligned.

• Collaborate with the Head of Partnerships to build strategic relationships with companies that grow philanthropic and commercial income. 

• Support the acquisition of new, multi-year philanthropic funders and existing donors.

Other

• Regular out of office work may be required in order that the organisation is able to deliver on its commitments to its stakeholders

• Some UK travel will be required from time to time

What you do
Main purpose of post
This is a senior and strategic role in our fundraising team. You will be
responsible for leading the development and delivery of our Individual Giving
strategy, ensuring sustainable growth in income from individual donors. You
will oversee the retention and stewardship of existing supporters and
implement creative, data-led campaigns to attract new donors across multiple
channels. You will line manage the Legacy and In Memory Manager, supporting
their growth and the success of these high-value income streams.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Development and Planning
 Lead the development and execution of a multi-year Individual Giving
strategy.
 Develop and deliver an annual work plan to achieve agreed income
targets.
 Use data insights and donor segmentation to shape compelling and
effective campaigns.

Campaign Management
 Plan, manage, and evaluate a portfolio of Individual Giving campaigns
including:
o Regular giving
o Payroll giving
o Charity lottery
o Online and offline donor acquisition
 Test and implement new fundraising approaches to increase donor
conversion and value.
 Ensure all communications reflect the charity’s tone, values, and brand.

Donor Retention and Stewardship
 Design and implement supporter journeys that deepen donor
engagement and loyalty.
 Work with our Marketing Manager to oversee donor communications to
specific audience groups and stewardship activity, ensuring a positive
supporter experience.
 Monitor donor behaviour and lifetime value to inform stewardship and
upgrade strategies.

Legacy and In Memory Giving
 Provide strategic oversight of legacy and in-memory income streams.
 Line manage and support the Legacy and In Memory Manager to deliver
agreed targets and KPIs.
 Support the development of a legacy marketing plan to grow our legacy
pipeline.
 Support development of relationships with legacy pledgers and inmemory
donors

Budgeting and Performance
 Manage income and expenditure budgets for Individual Giving.
 Track and analyse campaign performance against KPIs and ROI targets.
 Maximise all gift aid opportunities within the agreed audiences.
 Report regularly to the Head of Fundraising on performance,
opportunities, and risks.

Cross-Team Collaboration

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Individual Giving & Legacies Team at Dementia UK, where you will play a key role in growing two of the charity’s most vital income streams, gifts in Wills and in memory fundraising. Together this amounts to over £8 million annually, representing more than a quarter of our total income. 

As a Legacy and In Memory Executive, you will help increase awareness of gifts in Wills and maximise opportunities for in memory giving through the delivery of compelling, timely and supporter-focused communications. You will lead on the development and implementation of multichannel marketing campaigns, including copywriting, compiling design briefs and liaising with suppliers and agency partners to ensure that all activity is insight-led and aligned with strategic objectives.

You will be responsible for stewarding supporters with sensitivity and care, managing enquiries and pledges related to gifts in Wills and coordinating the delivery of meaningful journeys for in memory donors. Working closely with internal teams and external suppliers, you will oversee the production of marketing and collateral, managing relevant content across social media channels and sourcing case stories for use across the charity.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience delivering fundraising or marketing projects in any area. You should be confident using a relationship database to inform and report on stewardship activity and ensuring data is used effectively to enhance supporter journeys. You should also have an understanding of how to use insights, data and market trends to identify opportunities and make recommendations.

About the role

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organisation working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.  Established in 1984, with an active presence in over 45 countries, we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters. IRUK’s focus is strengthening effective funding, mobilising for change through advocacy and awareness-raising, and strengthening programme development and delivery. Islamic Relief UK (IRUK) is actively recruiting for the position of ‘Creative Communications Coordinator’ to join its Content Production Team, based from its Waterloo Office, London. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working model.

The role

The role holder will take responsibility for shaping and driving forward our editorial, multimedia, and campaigning content, ensuring the right tone of voice, brand look, feel, and messaging is embedded across all channels.

The Creative Communications Coordinator will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging copy for a wide variety of projects and platforms. This principally involves leading on the collation of programme communications, managing editorial to produce thought leadership and positional pieces, and acting as a brand ambassador ensuring IRUK’S voice is synonymous with brand visibility and reputation. As a part of content editing and production the Creative Communications Coordinator will be leading on writing content for fundraising and promotional materials; advertising campaigns; email marketing campaigns; web page content; newsletters and blogs to name but a few.

About you

This post requires a creative individual with strong writing ability and a demonstrable passion for writing, as well as meticulous attention to detail and a firm grasp of grammar and plain English communication. The post holder will be able to manage various working relationships and competing priorities. They’ll be meticulous in keeping to tight deadlines and will be able confidently to adapt and tailor messages for distinct audiences – including donors by different age and behavioural segments, the general public, VIPs, politicians, the media and corporate/brand partners.

The successful candidate must have:

• Proven writing skills and strong all-round communication skills
• Degree-level education, ideally in English, Media/Journalism, or creative writing
• Knowledge of and interest in international affairs and development
• Good research skills
• Good interviewing ability
• A creative, conceptual thinker who is comfortable in a range of writing formats, from serious long copy to a witty one-liner.
• A versatile writer who can connect with a variety of audiences within the British Muslim community and among the wider public and key stakeholders.
• A strong sub-editor and proofreader, with meticulous attention to detail and impeccable standards of grammar
• An ability to communicate complex and dry concepts in plain English and compelling copy.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to lead on planning.
• Significant professional copywriting experience, either in house or for an agency
• Proven conceptual copywriting experience, ideally gained in a multi-channel environment, across both print and digital content.
• Experience of writing in a not-for-profit context and for a Muslim audience is valued.
