We now have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and highly organised Fundraising & Development Officer to join our team on a 1-year fixed term contract. As the Fundraising & Development Officer, you will have experience in fundraising and grant writing and will be responsible for working across the charity to identify new funding opportunities, preparing high-quality applications, and maintaining relationships with key funders.

As a Fundraising & Development Officer, your responsibilities will be:

· Research and identify potential trusts and foundations to approach for funding.

· Work with the Management team to identify projects and proposals.

About the Role

You will:

• Provide direct advocacy support to children and young people with disabilities, in and on the edges of the care system. You will hold a caseload, and be committed to championing the rights of these young people, working with a broad range of other stakeholders and agencies to do so.
• Support with developing the quality of services and projects delivered by Coram Voice to children and young people. This includes under Coram Voice’s Disability Outreach Project. It is an exciting time to join this project, which has recently expanded to include educational advocacy in addition to social care focused advocacy.
• You will support in the promotion of good practice across both Coram Voice and external organisations, building equitable and inclusive practice across the sector for children and young people with disabilities.

Our advocates will have relevant experience with children and young people, and may hold a suitable Advocacy Qualification. For the right candidate, we may also be able to offer this post as a Trainee position, and offer support to gain qualifications. The salary offered will reflect the candidate’s experience and skills.

Project: Policy brief - Integration of mental health into heat action policy 

Objective: Research and author a policy briefing on how mental health can be best integrated into heat action policy

Location: Global remote (based anywhere with preference for +-8h GMT)

Scope This policy brief will: 

(i) outline how mental health considerations currently feature in heat policies (operationalization of what will be considered a “heat policy” in terms of geographical remit (e.g., national vs municipal) and in terms of policy (e.g., Heat Action Plan, Heat Health Action Plan etc) to be decided together with consultant)

(ii) describe at least 6 case studies (one case study per WHO region) of the successful integration of mental health considerations into heat adaptation and responses;

(iii) provide concrete recommendations for policymakers (with a focus on policymakers working on heat policies, e.g., municipal policymakers working on heat or on relevant topics (e.g., urban development or housing), stakeholders in the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Health, heat officers in cities, civil protection agencies, meteorological agencies, etc.)

Services

The services provided by the consultant will include: 

• Conduct a narrative review (max. 10 pages) of how mental health features in heat policies [expected time: approximately 10 working days]
• Liaise with the team at Columbia University to consider how to translate the academic paper: A Critical Gap in Addressing Mental Health in Heat-Health Action Plans Worldwide into the policy brief [expected time: approximately 2 working days]
• Coordinate a call for case studies (e.g., on UnitedGMH social media such as LinkedIn, the Global Mental Health Action Network Circle platform, and via targeted outreach to specific climate and health or heat and health communities) looking at the integration of mental health considerations into heat policies. This would also include lived experience accounts. This would entail coordinating the collection, selection, and write-up of the case studies. [expected time: approximately 5 working days]
• In conjunction with the activity above, conduct a scoping exercise/desk review to identify examples of case studies on the integration of mental health considerations into heat policies to identify other possible case studies. If possible this should also include the collection of financial data to make a financial case for the integration of mental health into heat policies [expected time: approximately 5 working days]
• Coordinate the process of developing recommendations from experts (expert identification to be supported by UnitedGMH) on the integration of mental health into heat policies via (i) a virtual roundtable; (ii) a written feedback process on the recommendations.
• Write-up policy brief (max. 20 pages) which should at a minimum include: (i) a snapshot of how mental health currently features in heat policies; (ii) at least 5 case studies of ways in which mental health has been integrated in heat policies; (iii) recommendations (including specific language recommendations) for the integration of mental health into heat policies (these should be aligned with existing guidance, e.g., WHO guidance on Heat Health Action Plans) [expected time: approximately 10 days]
• The consultant will be supervised by Alessandro Massazza (United for Global Mental Health), Robbie Parks (Columbia University), and Emma Lawrance (Climate Cares Centre). In additional, the project team will collaborate closely with the authors of this paper: A Critical Gap in Addressing Mental Health in Heat-Health Action Plans Worldwide

The consultant will be appropriately referenced in all outputs (e.g., authorship on the report etc.).

We may consider transforming the report into an academic publication which the consultant would be welcome to contribute to (based on their capacity). This would however not be part of the deliverables.

Purpose

This role leads the coordination of Kids’ online engagement and digital inclusion work for young people with SEND, including information provision, participation, and wellbeing support. You will deliver a two-year Online Wellbeing and Resilience Support Programme, including identifying and engaging digitally excluded young people to help them access vital digital tools and services. The role also drives collaboration across the Digital Services Consortium (a collaboration of 12 children’s charities), embedding shared learning, outcome measurement, and inclusive digital practices across Kids, and will create new capacity to work with young people to scope and deploy online campaigning activity.  

Responsibilities

• To lead and coordinate Kids’ online engagement and inclusion work for young people with SEND. This includes Kids’ online information provision; voice/ participation and wellbeing work.

Together, we’ll co-create new online content and resources that truly reflect their voices and experiences. 

 What the Programme Offers: 

• Online information with resources codesigned with young people with SEND. 

• A series of interactive webinars and guided online activities. 

• Free devices and data to improve access to those who need it most, plus the support to ensure everyone can participate.

We will reach over 1,800 young people over the two year funded period.

Thanks to National Lottery players, the Digital Services Consortium (DSC) has received over £1.5 million over two years from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. The DSC has also received a grant of £400,000 from BBC Children in Need for two years to provide digital support for disabled or seriously ill children and young people and their family members across the UK. Virgin Media O2 and Vodafone have generously donated devices and data through the Good Things Foundation National Databank and Device Bank which will help address affordability barriers.

Significant opportunity

We have a significant opportunity to put the tools into the hands of those working with Children, Young People and Families that will better equip them to see young lives transformed.

What you will deliver (responsibilities)

Programme Support:

• Present analysis and insights based on performance data and any contact with delivery partners to inform decisions within the team about ongoing relationships.

• Help to organise, manage and minute internal and external meetings and events, including peer learning workshops.

The Role:
To assist in the delivery of a high-quality, widely respected and customer-influenced repairs and maintenance function by providing full project management support and customer liaison across the full range of Stoll’s property compliance and asset maintenance contracts and programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a positive image of Stoll to its customers, stakeholders, and other relevant outside bodies.
Provide input to the Corporate Plan and Team Plans through participation in Organisational, Departmental and Team Meetings.
Provide appropriate ‘team’ cover in the absence of other staff as reasonably requested.

Specific Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and implement the delivery of gas safety services to include annual gas safety checks to all dwellings and gaining access to inaccessible homes.
• Develop and maintain effective mechanisms to ensure all gas, LPG, oil, ASHP & renewables and solid fuel appliances are inspected annually.
• Maintain up-to-date and appropriate records for the proper management of the gas safety programme and all other property compliance programmes. This may include both paper and electronic records.
• Ensure that STOLL meet all statutory and HSE (Health and Safety Executive) requirements relating to all identified areas of property compliance including all elements of FLAGEL –   fire, legionella, asbestos, gas safety, electrical safety, and lifts.
• Work closely with the H&S Officer to ensure that work relating to fire safety is delivered appropriately and as required.
• Effectively manage appropriate facilities management and property compliance budgets and resources to ensure optimum service/programme levels are achieved.
• Process invoices and ensure contract payments are made in a timely fashion.
• Provide colleagues with itemised service charge estimates for tenants and leaseholders detailing the annual costs of servicing/maintenance/cyclical works.
• Ensure timely, accurate and relevant performance management information is available for review and can be produced for the property compliance function. Assist in monitoring performance targets to achieve continuous improvement.
• Assist with the preparation, administration and monitoring of facilities management and property compliance contracts and programmes. Prepare specifications and schedules and programmes of work. Issue works orders and monitor quantity, progress, and quality of works on site.
• Manage contractors daily across the full portfolio of facilities management and property compliance programmes, ensuring that contractors adhere to an agreed programme for each individual resident’s home and that collectively programmes are delivered on time.
• Ensure timely and accurate administration of all records relating to property compliance and facilities management. This will include input and record keeping and include supervision of contractors.
• Records must be maintained to a standard which ensures that all information in connection with servicing and testing programmes is readily retrievable when requested.
• Carry out site inspections of works in progress when required. Arrange and minute regular meetings with property compliance, facilities management and cyclical maintenance contractors either as specified in individual contracts, or on good practice grounds agreed with the Director of Property and Asset Management.

The Sanctuary (Crisis Café) is a service for all residents experiencing emotional distress. The café is weekdays during the evening and at weekends in the afternoon. We provide initial support meetings both face to face and via the telephone, workign with clients to resolve immediate distress, and explore coping mechanisms. We then coproduce support plans with clients and offer 121’s, counselling, peer support groups and workshops as well as a social place to be.  

The support worker will be experienced in working with people in distress or who have mental health issues, highly organised and have excellent people skills.  A minimum of 3 shifts per week is required.

Age UK Croydon’s very successful Personal Safety Project (Falls Prevention) for older people in Croydon is recruiting a new Senior Personal Safety Assessor. If you are an enthusiastic, passionate and organised individual, this could be the role for you.

Our Personal Safety Project (PSP) is a free service which aims to help older people who have fallen or are at risk of falling at home. The service is available to anyone aged 50 and over who lives in the borough of Croydon.

Our trained assessors carry out a comprehensive risk assessment to identify potential causes of falls and hazards in the home and can arrange for stair rails, grab handles and other necessary aids and adaptations to be supplied and/or fitted, free of charge. The project can provide ongoing telephone support for up to six weeks to monitor the risk of further falls post engagement.
