The NSNO Staging Post project offers additional assessment and reconnection support to clients over a 42-day period, ensuring those at risk of rough sleeping can be directed to services suitable to their immediate, medium and longer term needs. The Staging Post is a 24/7 staffed project that accommodates fifty clients with medium to high needs around mental health, substance and alcohol use.

In the role of Case Coordinator you will work flexibly to support clients where they need us the most:

• Playing a central role in coordinating the day to day case work of the Staging Post team to ensure high quality personalised casework.
• Work in partnership with local authorities, accommodation services, statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure that clients move on from the service into the appropriate accommodation with the correct support in place.
• Line manage and provide essential support and supervision to Assessment and Reconnection Workers.
• In this non-shift role you will work mainly within normal office hours Monday – Friday, however, on occasion you may be asked to work flexibly in order to support the team or a particular client on an evening or weekend.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience of communicating, liaising and negotiating with internal and external to a high level.  

• Experience of client case management and the resilience to achieve and meet agreed outcomes.
• The ability to manage complex behaviours and motivate staff and clients to achieve outcomes with a creative and person centred approach.
• The ability to coordinate a project or team in a homelessness service and provide reconnection advice.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with others whilst managing your own time.

We are seeking a Night Support Worker for the Supported Accommodation element of this service.

Our properties are places of safety, Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE), from which we work with individuals. We aim to provide accommodation and support that helps people find self-worth and the belief that they deserve a better future, before moving them on safely and successfully, therefore reducing homelessness and the on-going risk of homelessness. 

To join us you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of needs related to homelessness, especially mental ill-health, alcohol and substance misuse and offending. You will be able to lone work effectively, working calmly under pressure, with excellent inter-personal skills, including de-escalation and the ability to effectively and professionally communicate. You will be able to use your initiative, and work flexibly in a demanding environment, and be able to manage the safety, security and support of people living in the service overnight.

We’re seeking to recruit Relief Support Workers within our Gateshead and Sunderland Projects; needing to appoint individuals to our relief pool who are able to provide daytime cover (weekdays, weekends, evenings between 7.30am-8pm), and/or waking night shifts (8pm-8am). Actual hours vary by project.

You’ll bring strong experience in crafting high-impact communications that influence decision-makers and persuade key stakeholders. With a solid understanding of Scotland’s political landscape and public policy processes – particularly within the Scottish Government and Parliament – you’ll have a proven track record of driving change through effective advocacy and relationship-building at a senior level. About the team

The Advocacy Team is part of Shelter Scotland’s Communications and Advocacy Department and is responsible for developing the charity’s policy positions, research plan, and public affairs and professional stakeholder engagement.

The Advocacy team works closely with colleagues in Community Advice and our Telephone and Online Advice services to capture evidence of how Scotland’s broken and biased housing system is impacting communities, and colleagues in Communications and Engagement to translate this evidence into compelling public campaigns and fundraising appeals. The team have led the organisation on developing an anti-racism evidence base, the economic and social benefits of social housing investment and the case for a human rights-based approach to meeting housing need.

Salary: £24,136 per year plus pension and benefits

Hours: 37.5 per week on a rota including evenings and weekends

About the role

As Young People Support Worker you will work under the direction, guidance and support of a manager/senior worker you will be responsible for a caseload of clients as well as share responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all clients, volunteers and staff in the service. You will participate in our programme of meaningful activity by running group sessions and activities within the accommodation to support young people’s individual development and social engagement.

In accommodation based services you will ensure that the accommodation is properly maintained and support the client to sustain their tenancy and participate in positive and successful move on.

You will work a rolling rota of daytimes, evenings and weekends (some shifts will be lone working) including bank holidays to ensure that young people have full staff support during their most difficult times.

Key responsibilities include:

· Completing risk and needs assessments and creating SMART support plans

· Providing one to one and group support within the accommodation

· Encouraging participation in education, training, employment and volunteering

· Supporting young people to settle in and maintain their accommodation

· Maintaining accurate case records and handling petty cash and rent collection

· Ensuring the accommodation environment is safe, welcoming and well maintained

· Working a rota including evenings, weekends and some lone working

· Working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and local partner agencies

About you

You will bring a calm, patient and supportive approach, with the ability to build trust and encourage young people to reach their goals. Experience working with young people, or those who have faced homelessness, mental health difficulties, substance misuse or time in care, will be important.

· Experience of working with young people or those who have experienced homelessness

· An understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance misuse or the care system

· A knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning

· Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills

About the role

As a Young People Support Worker for young people in Local Authority Care (YPLAC), you’ll work in a supported accommodation service to help vulnerable young people develop the skills and confidence to achieve independence. As Young People Support Worker you will work as a member of a services team delivering an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported accommodation. Working within supported accommodation, you will deliver assessments, support plans and move on work that enables young people to build confidence, resilience and core life skills.

Under the guidance of a Service Manager you will manage a caseload of young people, support their emotional, social and practical needs and ensure safeguarding and wellbeing procedures are followed. The Business System Administrator (FTC) role is a support role focused on managing application support requests and providing routine application support, advice, and system administration for key business systems.

The post holder will act as the first point of contact and work as part of a team to maintain these systems. Support services will be delivered by adopting a triage support approach, with more complex issues and project work being escalated to Look Ahead's second line application support specialists.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent coordination and analytical skills, be adept at issue management and be able to work as part of a team to deliver issue resolution for the relevant applications and technologies. This role can be delivered as a hybrid role, with the primary office location being Look Ahead's Head Office although the post holder may be required to visit some of our services from time to time as part of their service delivery.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a potential 6-month extension.

Offering day to day support to volunteers, providing learning, shadowing and mentoring and being a consistent role model for our values are also key aspects of the role.

About you

You are able to listen to, engage and work with individuals and communities and with all stakeholders, including people with lived experience of homelessness. You will have knowledge of and/or proven ability in housing and homelessness advice and advocacy and are able to progress to specialist level knowledge, training will be provided. About the Team

Shelter North East has been supporting people in the region for over 25 years and provides advice over 12 local authorities. We are made up of an advice team, legal team as well as support services which include Housing First and DIY skills service, as well as an administration team. National staff based in the hub include a Community Fundraiser and Community Organiser, Lived Experience Officer and Business Development Manager.
