FareShare Merseyside redistributes quality surplus food to over 232 community-based organisations who are working with vulnerable people across the region and parts of North Wales. This role is vital to the work of FareShare, ensuring that food is safely delivered to our Community Food Members or collected from our food suppliers. A standard driving licence is all you need to deliver our food once or twice a week to children’s clubs, homeless hostels and refuges in your area.
What will I be doing?
- Safely driving vans to deliver and collect food
- Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times
- Completing all relevant paperwork
- Planning routes, sorting food, picking orders, loading and unloading.
- Carrying out routine checks on the vans, taking responsibility for the vans throughout the day and reporting accidents or damage to the van or other vehicles
- Assist in the maintenance of the vans including cleaning

Do you have the knowledge, experience and expertise to help steer the future of British art studies? Are you looking to engage in dynamic discussions about the study and understanding of British art and visual culture and help award around £1 million of funding annually?
We are seeking to recruit three new members to join the Paul Mellon Centre’s (PMC) Advisory Council. In this voluntary role, you would be joining a panel of specialists who read and review applications to our funding programme, which currently distributes around £1 million annually to individuals and organisations undertaking the most original, innovative and impactful research in British art. We offer grants and fellowships for both organisations and individuals, with the largest individual grant being £60,000. We support individual research projects, curatorial projects, events, publications, digital projects and more. As we seek to continue our work expanding the field and promoting new ways of understanding British art, we are looking for Advisory Council members who will bring a profound understanding of the state of British art research in its broadest sense, across all periods and geographical/cultural contexts. New members will serve an initial three-year term, with an option to extend to five years, and will be expected to read and review applications for our two annual funding rounds in spring and autumn.
We are looking for individuals with a significant track record of undertaking and supporting advanced research in the field of British art, whether in academia or in the wider sector. We would be particularly interested in hearing from those with a background working with digital technologies and conservation and heritage projects, as well as people who can bring fresh perspectives to the field of British art studies.
Commitment
We require Advisory Council members to take part in two meetings per year and complete in advance the reading and assessment of the applications under review. The meetings usually take place in March and November, in person at PMC in London (with online attendance as an option). Applications will be open for assessment at least a month before the meeting takes place. On average we receive between two and three hundred applications per round: due to the division of applications between Main Council meetings and Subcommittee meetings, Advisory Council members can expect to read and assess around one hundred to one hundred and fifty applications per round.
Once during their [initial] term, we will ask Advisory Council members to sit on both the Subcommittee meeting and the Main Council meeting, meaning they will need to read and assess the full total of applications that round.
Expenses and Honorarium
All members of the Advisory Council will receive complimentary copies of PMC publications for the duration of their time on the Council.
We will cover reasonable travel and accommodation expenses for the individual to attend the meeting in person.
Remote participation in the meetings will always be available and international applicants are welcome.
This is a voluntary position and the Paul Mellon Centre is a registered charity, dedicated to supporting research in British art studies. However, recognising the time commitment involved and the obstacle this may present to individuals we can offer a £250 honorarium for each round of assessment to Advisory Council members, payable on request at the completion of the round.

We are actively seeking to make our funding opportunities and processes more accessible and user friendly. Accordingly, we want to ensure that membership of our Advisory Council is open to everyone with the relevant experience, expertise and knowledge. Hardwick Estate is a 900 acre organically-managed Estate and thriving rural community in the South Chilterns near Whitchurch-on-Thames, which is in the process of becoming England's first community-led Estate.
We have recently elected seven Interim Trustees from the Hardwick community and are now seeking three further external Trustees to co-opt onto the Interim board. This Board will steer Hardwick Estate through the transition and into the Charitable Company (Hardwick Trust) including setting up policies and procedures and doing due diligence on the Estate as a 'going concern' in order to receive the gift of land and assets.
We are seeking Trustees with good knowledge and experience in any of these areas:

Setting up and/or running a complex charity.

Legal, regulatory and policy issues affecting us as a Charitable Company.

In addition it would be desirable if Co-opted Trustees also had any experience in:

Information and Advice Service: The Information and Advice service for older people provides a free, confidential, and independent service for anyone aged 65+ living in Bromley and 50 + in Greenwich. Our advisors provide general advice on a range of subjects: employment rights, welfare benefits, housing, consumer rights and adult social care.
Role Summary: Provide information and signposting to older people living in Bromley and Greenwich and provide admin support to the Information and Advice Team, helping to keep the information resources up to date.
What will I be involved in?
- Answering calls and basic enquiries coming into our Information and Advice Service, full training is provided. Present and discuss information with the client in an accessible manner.
- Committed to researching and providing up to date information to vulnerable older people using the internet and other resources.
- Identify and research information relevant to the user’s situation, drawing on resources available.
- Being online and knowledgeable of Microsoft packages and the use of emails
- Liase closely with the Advice Case Supervisor, other advisors, and wider staff team. Seeking guidance and support where required.
- Successfully complete online training courses for Age UK Bromley and Greenwich volunteers.
- Participate in volunteer support meetings with the Advice Case Supervisor and any training on safeguarding adults and appropriate boundaries.
- At all times work in accordance with the organisation’s policies regarding Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Confidentiality & Data Protection. Lone working.

- A commitment to ensuring that customers are provided with accurate relevant information and support. Interested in finding out more about social welfare law advice e.g. housing and welfare benefits.
- Be a good listener and have empathy with older people, being approachable and welcoming.
- Interested in learning and developing new skills required of the role. Demonstrate that you are interested in what the client has to say by communicating respect and warmth.
- Demonstrate a non-judgmental approach. The listener may personally disagree with the client’s opinions or actions but attempts to understand the client’s point of view and shows that they still value the client.
- Being able to maintain client confidentiality, understand the importance of keeping within the parameters of the role and have a good understanding of GDPR and Data Protection.

Who we are
ECA offers a Social Centre that serves as a place for people to reconnect with old friends and meet new people in a secure and inviting setting. While activities are primarily aimed at elderly and vulnerable adults in the local area, the centre is open to everyone.
Our current programme includes
- Social gatherings at the Elleray Social Centre.
- Arts, crafts, educational talks, and workshops.
- Exercise Classes, Gentle fitness classes tailored for seniors, both indoor and outdoor.
- Counselling and support groups.

How we operate
The Social Centre is managed by a Centre Manager, Administrator, Activity and Volunteer Coordinator, and a cook. They are supported by a team of approximately 40 volunteers who assist in the office, gardens, café, and facilitate daily activities. The organization operates as a Charitable Company regulated by the Charities Commission and has eight Trustees on the Board of Trustees. The Trustees meet six times a year, with additional meetings as needed.

Chair Role Description
- Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that ECA achieves its mission.
- Work in partnership with the Centre Manager and team to achieve ECA’s mission.
- Lead the board in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation.
- Optimise the relationship between the board and ECA’s staff and volunteers.
- Plan and chair the board meetings and the AGM, with others as appropriate.
- Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for ECA.
What we are looking for
- Ideally previous experience of being a trustee.
- A keen sense of strategic purpose.
- Governance and committee experience in a charity or business setting.
- Strong in execution and managing transformation projects, including leading the charity in the new ECA building setting.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and ability to constructively negotiate and collaborate with various institutions, entities, and personnel.
- Affinity with and commitment to the local SW London and Teddington area.
- Business experience and awareness across finance, risk, IT, and people management, would be desirable.
- An inclusive leadership style, able to inspire and support everyone to participate on an equal footing.
- The ability to listen and engage effectively, comfortable with challenge and debate and able to encourage that in others whilst fostering a collaborative board environment.
- In advocation, be able and willing to champion ECA’s work through personal networks, social media, and other channels.
- A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Be available, responsive and flexible to advise, support or give consent to, as needed.
Terms of office
- Trustees are appointed for a 3-year term of office, renewal for 2 further terms to a maximum of 9 years.
- This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Time commitment
- Attending [6] Board meetings annually. Currently meetings are generally held in person at the ECA building.
- Periodic meetings with the Centre Manager and management team, with flexibility to respond swiftly to the occasional ad-hoc issues.
- Other meetings, including on potential strategy and other charity-related issues.

The Elleray Centre
The Centre will be fully accessible, featuring a lift to the first floor. It includes a large hall that can split into two rooms and two additional activity rooms upstairs. A café and lounge will also open onto a garden with outdoor seating.
The funding for the new centre comes from Richmond Council, acknowledging ECA's local contributions over three decades. The future centre is leased from the council.
