About the opportunity
This role plays a key part in supporting the wider Action Tutoring team with HR and Safeguarding matters and sits within the Finance, HR and Operations Department, reporting to the Head of People and Culture.

Duties and responsibilities

Safer recruitment for staff and volunteer tutors

• Responsible for ensuring staff and volunteer tutor safer recruitment records and related checks are up date and complete.
• Collecting references and ensuring they meet our standard requirements. 
• Conducting ID calls for volunteer tutor DBS checks.
• Processing DBS checks and DBS update service checks.

Safeguarding

• Undertaking an initial triage of safeguarding concerns and incidents raised by members of the team and referring to senior staff as necessary. 
• Maintaining and overseeing the tutor safeguarding refresher training using a dashboard
• Compiling safeguarding data into termly reports for the team and board.

HR

• Supporting the Head of People and Culture with recruitment processes. This will include preparing paperwork relating to the selection process and offers of employment and following up with applicants and the hiring manager to ensure both sides have a quality hiring experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who is keen to develop their HR career in the charity sector to join our HR Team. You will play a vital role in supporting the close-knit HR function by carrying out a range of generalist HR administrative duties, keeping our HR systems and records up to date, assisting with the day-to-day support throughout the employee life cycle and providing trusted HR support to staff and managers.

You may have some experience of HR administration (perhaps as part of a wider administrative role) and feel ready to move into a role with more responsibility. This is not essential – we are looking for skills, aptitude and potential. You will be provided with a thorough in-house training programme, and we’ll also provide you with support to complete the CIPD Level 3 qualification upon successful completion of your probationary period.

Eligibility for the role

A Finance Officer is required within our vital and growing community organisation to; manage financial systems, create and report on finance to the trustee board and stakeholders of the Loughborough Community Centre.

What you would do:

Oversight and day to day management of the organisational financial systems, including:

• Using Quick Books, spreadsheets to track expenses and company spending.
• Company payroll, tax and financial auditing.
• Keeping well-organised files and records of business financial activity.
• Archive of reports, receipts, and other financial evidence.
• Keeping financial databases up to date.
• Interacting with customers either on the phone or in person.
• Following up on business financial communications, billing, and ordering.
• Communicating with funders, suppliers and vendors.

About the opportunity 

Working closely with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Philanthropy, you will support a range of fundraising activities, most predominantly researching new avenues for funding within trusts, foundations and corporate partners, completing grant applications, carrying out communications and reporting to existing funders and raising the profile of the charity through representing Action Tutoring at funder or networking events. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the world of fundraising activities, working with a passionate, committed and driven team.

• Work alongside the Corporate Partnerships Team to encourage corporate support through donations or grants.
• Identify and lead on local fundraising opportunities in Action Tutoring’s nine key regions, for example researching and submitting applications for local grants and to local businesses.
• Research and determine suitability of profile raising opportunities or awards for Action Tutoring to apply to, such as corporate Charity of the Year opportunities, the Third Sector Awards and Charity Awards.

About the role

We’re looking to recruit an experienced procurement manager to help us achieve best value for money with our spend so that we can invest more in our services that support people with breast cancer. If successful you’ll be working as part of the legal and governance team and will have responsibility for both initiating and supporting our procurement projects. You’ll be building upon the relationships with contract owners that we’ve in place, offering best practice guidance to help them achieve their objectives whilst ensuring that value for money is achieved and risks mitigated. As our charity continues to grow you’ll have the opportunity to share your knowledge and develop your procurement experience across a wide and varied range of contracts.

About you

Our successful candidate will have good procurement experience in leading and supporting tenders for goods and services with a sound knowledge of IT system procurement. Experience of charity specific contracts would be an advantage but not essential.

You’ll have good negotiating skills being able to lead on supplier commercial negotiations. You should be able to demonstrate where and how you have added value to the procurement process. The ability to help with drafting tender specifications and statements of work is a key requirement for this role. CIPS qualified, or working towards the qualification, would be an advantage but not essential.

THE ROLE

As our new Fundraising Officer, you'll be joining OSCAR's Charity at a pivotal time in our growth. This isn't a rigid, box-ticking role – it's an opportunity to shape your own fundraising legacy. You'll have the freedom to be creative, take ownership, and implement bold ideas whilst working within our established charitable framework. You’ll have financial targets to meet, and the backing of the whole team to help you achieve them.

Your time will be split across three closely-linked key areas:

Corporate Partnerships (35%)

• Researching and identifying potential partners
• Making initial approaches and developing warm contacts
• Supporting our Charity Manager to get partnerships over the line
• Preparing compelling materials and presentations
• Maintaining and stewarding relationships

Flagship Events (35%)

• Boosting sign-ups and participation
• Securing sponsors
• Providing event day support
• Finding creative ways to maximise income

Community Fundraising (30%)

• Building school partnerships
• Coordinating local events (such as quiz nights, bake sales, virtual events)
• Engaging with community groups
• Motivating and inspiring volunteer fundraisers

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-haves

• Proven fundraising experience
• Proven experience in achieving/exceeding targets in the not-for-profit or commercial sectors.

THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

We want to see you at your best, so we've designed our interviews to give you the chance to showcase your skills in realistic scenarios.

First-Round Interview (60 minutes):

• A conversation about your experience and motivation (20 minutes)
• Case study analysis (we will send you this the day before): review event data and suggest improvements (20 minutes)
• Written exercise: draft a compelling fundraising email or social campaign (20 minutes)

Second-Round Interview (60 minutes):

• Presentation: share a creative fundraising idea with implementation plan (prepared in advance)
• Response test: corporate partnership meeting
• Problem-solving: respond to a fundraising scenario with limited resources

About the role:

As an experienced senior manager with a proven track record of leadership in providing services to women in contact with the criminal justice system and working with partners and funders, you will manage criminal justice projects, work to develop and expand our services and partnerships and manage criminal justice managers and other staff as required.

You will work with the management team to ensure, manage and oversee that the services work within the budget, are complaint with financial regulations, policies and procedures, and meet funding and Advance requirements.

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Operations Contracts Lead you will need the below experience and skills:

• A thorough understanding of and knowledge of the issues relating to women in the criminal justice system
• A sound knowledge of safeguarding adult and children principles, child abuse, child protection issues and safeguarding
• A good knowledge and understanding of organisational systems and frameworks, line management and project management
• Significant experience, likely to have been gained over several years, of strategic planning and operational management at a service manager level, and developing and delivering services at senior service management level
• Significant experience of working with women and/or service users with a complex range of needs, particularly within the criminal justice system, in custody and/or community.
• Experience of developing relationships with funders/commissioners and achieving required outcomes
• Experience of implementing quality assurance frameworks, monitoring, evaluating and measuring impact
• Strong influencing skills, enthusiasm, self-confidence, excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills , and a can do proactive solution focussed approach
• Strong negotiating skills and the ability to build strong and effective relationships and partnerships, dealing with ambiguity and resolving conflict effectively, achieving the right outcomes for the organisation, collaborating and networking
• Able to think, act and plan strategically to develop practical and creative solutions to the management of existing and new services and complex problems that may arise while maintaining high levels of diplomacy and professionalism
