The successful candidate will join our busy Governance team, reporting to the Head of Governance and working closely within a core team of two officers and two senior officers. 

As a Senior Governance Officer, you will provide high quality governance support to the senior executive, Board and Committees as well as other stakeholders across the Fund engaging pro-actively with other teams and stakeholders across the Fund.  You will have a good understanding of governance in the public or voluntary/charity sector and be able to quickly familiarise yourself with the Fund’s complex governance framework.  You will be expected to use your knowledge and judgment to provide prompt and high-quality advice and feedback. 

You will show leadership in identifying, implementing, and maintaining effective governance processes and best practice, bringing changes where needed. 

A team player you will take pride in your work and the work of the Governance team. 

Day to day responsibilities will include:

• You will work strategically, managing complex meeting schedules and governance processes.

  The ideal candidate:

• You will have experience of working in governance, or a governance-related position. 
• You will be reliable, highly responsive, flexible and maintain high attention to detail and pro-actively identify and address gaps.
• You will be able to manage multiple priorities, handling complex schedules, and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
• You will have excellent communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally, to a range of customers including senior stakeholders.
• You will be experienced and skilled in writing quality meeting minutes promptly after meetings. 
• You will have the ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating effectively with colleagues to achieve common goals.

The role is hybrid and UK based. However you will be able to travel to London for team’s meetings and occasionally to other locations within the UK to support governance meetings when required.

This is an exceptional opportunity to be at the heart of a truly exciting heritage restoration project to restore,  renew and open up to new audiences, a nationally-important building in a thriving but economically and socially challenged central London neighbourhood.

In November 2024, St Peter’s Walworth submitted a First-Round application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) for Development Phase funding for the “Building Beyond: Soane Reimagined” project. The request was for a First Round Pass of £3.1m and a Development Grant of £438,000.  A decision was received by NLHF on 13th March 2025 and pending Permission to Start, the Development Phase is set to run for 18 months, at which point a Delivery Round application will be submitted to activate a Delivery Phase.  Staff, a Design Team, a QS and specialist consultants will need to be competitively appointed to complete a list of required documents/studies for the Delivery application. Design development needs to be completed to RIBA Stage 3, planning, Faculty and consents need to be in place and all partnership funding raised or pledged.

Capital works are proposed to the exterior of the Church, respecting its heritage integrity, making it more sustainable and putting it in good order throughout. Similarly inside, where improvements will make the Church more welcoming, improving infrastructure and circulation and accommodating planned activities. Works will take place over the three floors: Crypt Basement, the Ground Floor and the Gallery/First Floor.

A full time Heritage Manager will need to be appointed at the beginning of the 18-month Development Phase. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the Project reporting to Claire Maugham (Chair of the Steering Group Committee) involved in strategic planning, management, execution, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.  In order to achieve the goals of St Peter’s Walworth,  they will oversee design development to RIBA Stage 3 of “Building Beyond: Soane Reimagined” and oversee the preparation of key NLHF checklist documents, supporting on the roll out of a successful fundraising campaign - with a target to raise just over £1m working with a Fundraising Appeal Board, and a F/T Trusts and Foundations Manager.

The Heritage Manager will be a strategic thinker with an understanding of the planning and delivery of major projects funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). We are also looking for a candidate that will successfully integrate partnerships that are being forged in the local area. They should have a strong background in project management and possess the ability to move adeptly between big picture thinking and day-to-day operations, where it will be necessary, for example, to process their own admin.

The Heritage Manager will have some experience of fundraising, networking and financial management and be comfortable working in a start-up environment, being able to demonstrate experience of extensive community engagement, as well as an understanding of and empathy with the ambitions and vision of the St Peter’s Walworth PCC (Parochial Church Council) and the needs of a Grade 1 listed building. 

They will bring an inclusive approach to their work, able to centre and involve the church and local community in the project while integrating the experience of a wide range of volunteer professionals

Their task will be ensure that the project is delivered within time and to budget in accordance with an agreed programme, budget and checklist of deliverables, as well as working closely with all project stakeholders and partners.

Main duties of the job

As Senior Finance Officer, you will play a vital role at World Heart Beat, ensuring the effective day-to-day management of finances, financial administration, and bookkeeping, as well as informing future business planning. You will work with key personnel across the team, providing guidance and leadership in relation to budget management and financial information to support funding applications and stewardship. You will also provide excellent reporting to support the Executive and Board.

It is an exciting time for the charity, following the opening of World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens in 2023, our second site for music teaching, which includes a café, concert hall and recording studio. The operation of two sites has increased our activities and overheads, making the Senior Finance Officer role even more crucial. The Marketing and Communications Officer is an important role at the College as you will proactively support the creation and execution of targeted marketing campaigns and activities, helping to ensure that the RCPCH continues to lead the way in children’s health.

With a good standard of education, you should have demonstrable experience of Google Analytics and email marketing, whilst having a background in Multi-Media Content production with experience of editing.

With social media marketing experience (both paid and organic) you should also have a good knowledge and understanding of Design & Media editing applications (eg. Canva).

An awareness and understanding of the principles of Project Management would be desirable, as would knowledge of Hootsuite, Ad Words and Dot digital, along with experience of the Adobe suite.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Salary: c£30,300 per annum.

Contract: Fixed term Contract-12 months – 35 hours per week.

As Celebrity Officer, you will plan, research, and deliver on sourcing celebrities, artists, sports people, and influencers to take part in Action for Children campaigns, events, and media to maximise our reach, reputation, and drive income.

How you'll help to create brighter futures  

• Identifying, recruiting, and nurturing a wide range of celebrities, sports people, artists, and influencers to support and host major fundraising events, increase awareness, and deliver our income goals. 
• Respond to celebrity requests from across the organisation, providing recommendations, advice and fulfilling signed off briefs. 
• Keeping an eye on the celebrity world for new potential celebrity supporters. 
• Collaborate with teams across Action for Children to develop innovative ideas and creative opportunities. 
• Write high quality briefings and pitches to secure support from celebrities, sports people, artists, and influencers.
• Collaborate with representatives from the PR team to develop communication plans which optimise celebrity support. 

Let's talk about you 

• Preferred professional qualification in Journalism/PR or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience and success in working with celebrities, sports people, artists and influencers and their agents to secure high level support for charity campaigns and events. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent attention to detail. 
• Excellent planning, organisation, and project management skills. 
• Excellent news sense and awareness of changing landscape for people in the public eye. 
• Adaptable and able to work under pressure. 
• Highly creative with a flair for innovation and forward thinking.
