Introduction

Working within the Central Secretariat, the Safeguarding Structures Programme Director will lead a programme team to implement the new independent structures for the Church of England's safeguarding function.

About the Department

The Central Secretariat provides support to many of the governance bodies of the Church of England, including the General Synod, House of Bishops, Archbishops' Council and others. It also provides policy analysis and support on internal matters relating to the structure and governance of the Church of England.

What you'll be doing

The purpose of this role is to deliver the General Synod's motion of February 2025 to design, develop and deliver independent scrutiny of Church safeguarding and such operations as the Synod decides. It needs to do so in a way that brings stakeholders - victims and survivors, safeguarding staff across the Church, trustees and others - along with them, with a focus on delivering a system of safeguarding that commands greater confidence. And it needs to do so working through an executive chair and lead bishop.

You will lead a programme team that is in the process of being formed, and you'll report to the Director of the Central Secretariat, whilst also working through an Executive Chair (currently being recruited), the lead bishop for safeguarding and a Programme Board, and maintaining the confidence of the wider Church of England, including the General Synod, the House of Bishops and others.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the programme team to deliver an ambitious programme of policy development, legislation, restructure and new service development, being accountable for ensuring the programme meets objectives , delivers outcomes and realises benefits
• Support the Executive Chair and lead bishop to deliver the mandate of General Synod (February 2025) regarding the future of Church of England safeguarding - maintaining their confidence and engagement at all times, building a relationship of trust and collaboration.
• Lead the team to deliver the change:
• Design the change - agreeing the new models for scrutiny/complaints and operations
• Secure buy-in to the change - including from governance bodies, the General Synod, and other stakeholders
• Execute the change through a mixture of legislative, contractual and other arrangements; and
• Embed the change - through the communications, engagement, planning etc that will enable the programme to deliver the benefits
• Maintain excellent programme governance - both ensuring the programme is well-run, with appropriate internal governance (plans, resource management, risk management) and reports effectively to the Programme Board, and to governance bodies
• Develop excellent engagement with safeguarding staff and leaders across the Church
• Ensure that the proposals are designed from the user perspective - with a particular focus on victims, survivors and parish safeguarding officers
• Lead, support, encourage and manage, the programme team of approximately 6-8 people
• Develop key messaging and strategic engagement , overseeing internal and external engagement
• Equip and enable the lead bishop and Executive Chair to be effective senior sponsors and externally facing change champions, ensuring that they are fully briefed on all developments and properly supported prepared for their meetings.

About You

Along with a recognised Programme Management accreditation (e.g. APM, PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent), you will also need to demonstrate:

• The ability to create the vision and a sense of the destination, and also to engage in the precise details of what needs to happen to deliver it;
• A track record of engaging with people who are impacted by substantial change;
• Ability and experience of working collaboratively with a programme team and wider stakeholders to achieve success
• Experience of working with senior stakeholders to deliver, and capacity to work with an Executive Chair and lead bishop or similar.

• A salary of 82,157 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any salary-sacrifice pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

Big Green Heart is looking for a trainer to help expand our practitioner base. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with teaching experience to use their professional skills in the charity sector in the vitally important area of mental health. Accredited practitioners may charge for their own practice, working with individuals or in partnership with schools, churches, and community projects. They will practice under license from Big Green Heart. 

The role of the trainer is to teach and train practitioners in the methodology of Big Green Heart and to bring individuals through to accreditation. This will be done regionally and online.

It is hoped that the trainer will continue to oversee the developing work of the practitioners in a mentoring role, either individually or in groups, whether in person or online. This will be an evolving role developed in partnership with the Founder/CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Supported by the Head of Individual Giving and Legacy, and working with your team, you will drive the development and implementation of a multi-channel acquisition strategy. This will drive lead generation and acquisition of new supporters, growing the charity’s base of supporters, planning, testing and refining approaches to build a scalable programme which delivers volume whilst maximising long-term ROI.
•  Identify opportunities to engage key audiences at moments that matter, such as inductions, promotions, training and development programmes, transfers, secondments and retirements, working in collaboration with colleagues and in partnership with external stakeholders to design and implement new approaches.
•  Work with the appointed agency to develop a regular giving proposition that delivers a strong sense of community across supporters; valuing those who function as custodians of the nation and each other.

•  Manage the Supporter Acquisition budget, ensuring income and expenditure budgets and forecasts are achieved with any critical variances being reported promptly.
•  Working with the Supporter Engagement team develop and implement a cross-channel programme of regular impact stewardship for new donors designed to engage, retain and inspire future support, with a focus on payroll and direct debit donors.
•  Work with the Supporter Engagement team to implement key cross-sell opportunities to our current donors through insight-driven customer journeys. 
•  Manage and grow the Charity’s payroll giving programme and represent the Charity as needed in key sector forums on payroll giving.
•  Manage the Donor Acquisition Officer to continue to expand our lottery programme as well as introduce new methods of engagement.

Person Specification: 

•  Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering successful donor acquisition programmes across a range of marketing channels.
•  Understanding of digital platforms and how to maximise them for the benefits of fundraising and supporter engagement.
•  Understanding of fundraising performance metrics and KPIs, with experience of interpreting campaign analysis and supporter insight to drive continuous improvement.
•  Understanding and experience of payroll giving and working with with Professional Fundraising Organisations and Payroll Giving Agencies.
•  Understanding of audience segmentation and its application for campaign targeting.
•  Experience of creating and delivering an effective case for support for potential donors, with demonstrable results.

Roles and Responsibilities

Grant Operations (55%)

• Lead on the implementation of a recent grantmaking review, conducted by the Impact Team, including revision of key grant templates and processes: due diligence, proposal development, assessment rubric, recommendation reports, reporting, partner surveys and grant exit. 
• Lead on the summary of progress towards our grantmaking KPIs, providing detailed reports and recommendations for the SLT, Impact Committee and Trustees on a quarterly basis.
• Lead on the management and development of our Impact Committee, a formal governance body overseeing our grantmaking and impact, comprising 4 Youth Advisory Board members and 4 Trustees.
• Ensure that the Youth Advisory Board has sufficient opportunity to feed into (and shape) activities of the impact team, by collaborating with the Senior Youth Participation Manager
• Support the development and implementation of our new CRM system, ensuring data is captured by Partnership Managers and kept up to date.
• Support the Impact team to identify potential grant applicants by researching organisations in fields and geographies of interest to Mission 44, networking and attending relevant events
• Support Partnership Managers as they lead the day-to-day grant assessment and relationship management with our partners. Support the Impact team to maintain relationships and regular communication with our grantees, including site visits and attendance at partners’ events.

Funder Plus (20%)

• Work with the Impact Team to implement (and continually improve) our Funder Plus programme, ready for delivery in 2026/27 - with input and consultation from a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Meanwhile in 2025/26, support the Partnership Managers in their aim to provide additional support beyond financial grants which help our grantees to build their capacity, leadership potential and resilience - this is likely to involve regular communication with the fundraising team and liaison with our major corporate partners

Research, Learning and Evaluation (15%)

• Lead on the data collection and impact reporting processes which have been developed to capture learning, evidence and impact data from our programmatic work. 
• Support our partnership managers to use the data collection and impact reporting processes, ensuring we’re able to collect and analyse key impact data on a regular basis
• Work with our Head of  Strategy and Learning and colleagues in the Impact team to help us clearly and confidently articulate the difference we’re making as a foundation. 
• Identify opportunities to improve the systems and processes we use to generate appropriate impact data, research, case studies and evidence of our impact 
• Identify opportunities to collate and share learning across the Mission 44 team, to influence and inform our future grant-making and organisational strategy
• Build and maintain strong relationships with a range of peer grantmakers, charities, and other external stakeholders within the philanthropic sector, identifying opportunities for Mission 44 to share our learning externally, where appropriate.

Fundraising and Communications (10%)

• Support fundraising efforts by providing data and case studies to include in fundraising proposals and grant reports
• Support engagement between our partners and our donors, by facilitating the delivery of skills-based volunteering activities

• Experience of working with a grantmaking organisation, as a researcher and/or grant-maker 
• Experience developing new/improved grantmaking systems and processes, and supporting the successful implementation of these processes within your organisation

We are looking for an experienced commercial and visitor experience professional to join our friendly team in the new post of Head of Commercial and Visitor Experience, reporting into our trading board, Crystal Palace Park Events Ltd (CPPEL), and line managed by the Director of Park Management.

Responsible for achieving ambitious income targets, you will lead the  management, development and growth of key revenue generating activities including concessions, leases, retail, licensing, catering, markets and car parking activity (and excluding events and venue hire). Alongside this you will oversee the smooth running of the park as a visitor attraction, ensuring an excellent visitor experience and an accessible, warm welcome to all.

The Opportunity:

This is where this new role comes in: The Head of Fundraising will play a crucial role in supporting the stewardship of the current donors while also securing the vital resources needed to realise our bold ambition and help us transform the lives of millions of young refugees and conflict affected youth across the globe.

You will be part of leading a growing and changing organisation, and will work closely with Amala’s two Co-founders and the Fundraising Manager to develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy, cultivate and deepen key donor relationships and boost our income growth from our current £800k towards our £3 million target by 2027, driving the financial sustainability necessary for Amala’s continued growth and impact.

The role would be best suited to someone who is committed to making a difference to the lives of young refugees, with a strong grounding in international charity sector fundraising. and international funding.

Essential experience:

• Proven experience in a senior fundraising management role within the non-profit sector, ideally within international development.

• A proven track record of success in fundraising, particularly in developing and executing complex fundraising strategies for a growing non-profit organisation.

• Experience developing and implementing multi-year income generation plans.

• A strong history of securing six-figure, multi-year grants and contracts in the UK and internationally, with an annual income generation of £1m+.

• Senior-level experience managing relationships with multiple, diverse funders and donors.

• Experience writing successful partnership bids, grant proposals, cases for support, and theories of change.

• Experience in leading change in a growing organisation.

• At least three years of experience leading and managing a team, with a track record of developing and supporting staff.

Main Roles

• To provide advice and casework at OISC/ IAA Level 2 on immigration, nationality and asylum law.
• To provide supervision to Immigration Volunteers

Specific Duties

• Manage a complex caseload across the field of immigration, nationality and asylum law.
• Adhere to casework procedures as outlined in LRMN’s policies, the IAA standards and the Advice Quality Standards (AQS).
• Interview and advise clients regarding immigration and asylum law procedure, and practice in a sensitive and professional manner.
• Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with IAA registration or similar professional body, e.g SRA.
• Keep up to date at all times with changes in the law by reading and attending training events relating to asylum and immigration.
• To maintain accurate and detailed case records of clients for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval and statistical monitoring, using Advice Pro as appropriate and as required by management.
• Advocate on behalf of clients by telephone, letter and email with appropriate agencies.
• Produce reports to meet funder’s and LRMN requirements.
• Work closely with the Immigration Manager and/or external evaluator in gathering data and information to produce accurate monitoring and evaluation reports.
• To assist the LRMN in liaising with its partners, funders and to provide statistical information and updates as required.
• Work closely with the Immigration Manager in reviewing files and ensure that corrective actions are undertaken.
