About this job

This year, we’ve embarked on introducing a bold, exciting new operating model and structure to improve our services and support to help everyone affected by MS.

We’re making it easier for people who use our services to find and connect to the support they need. And we're looking at ways to make our support more accessible and personalised to meet people’s individual needs, no matter where they are on their MS journey.

We’re creating services that are flexible so that, when someone's circumstance changes, we’ll change too. As demand for our services grows, we’ll always be ready to support everyone who needs our help. 

Our new structure and our new ways of working will bring all of these services together under one delivery model launching next year. We're creating a new virtual support hub to bring together everything our community needs to manage their MS or support and care for someone living with MS.

Our Services Development team are responsible for: UK-wide service development and experience design, community development, volunteering development

As a fixed term contracted role for 12 months, our Director of Services Development will be focusing on:

• embedding our new Services Development team.
• working with our Income Generation colleagues to establish processes and accountabilities for a business development pipeline.
• ensuring everything we do is led by the voice of the MS community and processes are established and embedded for the MS Society to meet our coproduction commitments.
• securing income.

The core responsibilities of the role include:

• providing strategic direction and leadership to our Service Development function. 
• taking overall responsibility and provide thought-leadership for all Service Development, Volunteering, and Participation & Influence across the MS Society 
• leading continuous improvement in the MS Society’s approaches in response to our community’s needs. Ensuring services and volunteering achieve maximum reach and impact at the MS Society.
• overseeing development of our volunteering strategy and approach, ensuring that it responds to societal trends and volunteering best practice.
• leading by example. Encourage and role model transparency, learning from failure, reducing complexity, user centricity, collaboration, and seeking feedback and ideas from all 

We’re looking for:

• substantial experience in Senior Leadership/Departmental Management roles, with the ability to manage large teams at all levels. 
• proven success in setting and delivering strategic plans and achieving long standing impact.
• proven analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform decisions and improve services.
• proven experience of delivering significant and sustainable business benefits through change programmes.

Brief role description

As part of the Marketing, Communication, Fundraising and Events Directorate, the Events Manager will work operationally across the charity, primarily delivering the OP ASCEND Employment Pathways series alongside other agreed key FEC events. You will also be aware of all FEC current and future event requirements, develop the annual events schedule with the Senior Events Manager and oversee the event planner management software with the wider Event Team members. You will also create reports and presentations to show the event impact and key KPI delivery.

Location: Hybrid (regular visits to the London-based offices, client meetings and events)
Work pattern: Fixed contract, 12 months – 21 hours per week

Our work is needed now more than ever before. This is why we have embarked on an exciting new strategy to make tackling low numeracy an urgent, national issue. However, we will only achieve significant and lasting change by engaging other organisations to support and fund our work.

The Corporate Volunteering Manager plays a central role in this by managing our successful and impactful Corporate Volunteering Programme. Each year through this programme, we train hundreds of volunteers from our corporate partners to visit primary schools and share examples of how maths has helped them as adults, both in their careers and personal lives.

This crucial work helps change us to the inter-generational narrative about numeracy in the UK. Maths is not just something you ‘have to do at school’, but is a valuable skill that helps us get on at work, and manage our time and our money. The programme has been running for three years now, and this year’s activity looks set to have meaningful impact on at least 17,000 children across the UK.

You will be responsible for ensuring that volunteers are adequately trained, for recruiting appropriate schools for them to visit, and all the admin and reporting that supports the programme.

We are looking for someone who can ‘own the programme’, is committed to improving our processes and the efficiency of delivery, with strong line management skills, and a commitment to the professional development for the Corporate Volunteering Programmes Assistant.

National Numeracy is based in Brighton, East Sussex, but we are offering significant remote/hybrid and flexible working with this role. If you are not office based, then the expectation is that you will be in Brighton at least occasionally when the work requires it. The role may include occasional travel to London and beyond.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to for an experienced Finance Operations Manager to join our team based at our Head Office in Abbots Leigh. This key role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, accuracy and compliance of all day-to-day financial operations for both Freeways and Freeways Trust.

You’ll lead a small finance administration team, oversee financial processing and play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our financial systems and controls.

As this role includes direct line management responsibilities, it requires the successful candidate to be based in the office for a minimum of 75% of their working time to provide effective leadership, mentoring and day-to-day support to the team. Ample free parking is available on site.

As part of our Finance Team, you will:

· ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information across both organisations

· oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and cashbook processes

· line manage and develop the finance administration team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture

· ensure accurate and timely processing of all transactions to support effective management reporting

· support the Finance Business Partner with the production of monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations

· lead preparation for annual audits and ensure compliance with financial controls

· contribute to the continuous improvement of finance systems, processes and reporting

About You

You will be a part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA) or have equivalent experience at a similar level. With a strong background in financial operations and systems, you’ll bring excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. Experience within the charity or public sector is desirable.

You will also have:

· Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel

· Experience with computerised accounting systems (e.g. Access Financials, Dimensions)

This role will report directly to the Operational Director of Children's Services and is non-case holding role, however, there may be the need to occasionally cover casework due to staff sickness or leave.

In this role you will be responsible for the smooth running of a staff team of Deputy Area Managers, Social Workers, Family Finders, Recruitment Managers & Officers, Consultants, Panel Members, Administration Team and Children’s and Young People's Resource Workers. 

The main role requirements for the Fostering Registered Area Manager role includes:

• A Level 5 Management Qualification (or a willingness to enrol on such a course within 6 months of appointment and to complete within 3 years)
• A minimum of 3 - 5 years post qualifying experience in fostering or in other childcare settings
• A proven track record in working with and on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and promoting their positive development
• Experience of managing a diverse and experienced team, ideally remotely
• Experience of group work and/or delivery of training
• Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation including the Fostering National Minimum Standards and Fostering regulations
• Ability to prioritise, plan and self-organise efficiently
• Excellent communication skills and ability to use IT effectively, including participating in virtual meetings and webinars.

What will you do?

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead and develop our fundraising team, shaping a cross-stream strategy and an integrated communications plan. This is a home-based role, with travel required to and within the regions where we operate, including attendance at key events.
