Hedgerow Heroes Project Officer - fixed term contact, 9 months

About the role This is an exciting time to join CPRE Hertfordshire as we look to initiate our work across the county protecting and restoring the county’s hedgerows. You will be the lead in this ambition to plant over 2km of hedgerow in Hertfordshire.
It is a big project funded by a CPRE corporate sponsor, but the Hedgerow Heroes Project Officer (HHPO) will have excellent allies and advice every step of the way.
Knowledge and experience in conservation would be an advantage, but the main attributes which this person will bring to the role will be top quality organisation and communication skills.
CPRE Hertfordshire will be working alongside another environmental group who will offer guidance and support on choosing hedgerow plants for planting. This role requires working with volunteers to support with hedgerow planting.
The person in this role will be expected to reach out to bring all the networks and ambition together for the hedgerow planting experience.
Good communication will be key at every stage – with the partners, the participants, the landowners and the funder.
Key responsibilities include:
Communications and Project Management
• Develop a database of volunteers, partnerships and stakeholders to recruit for the planting of 2km of hedgerows.
• Develop criteria for planting locations for the hedgerows and engage landowners in identifying / agreeing sections of hedgerow for planting.
• Use these criteria to develop a best practice guide for hedge planting and after-care, to support landowners, community groups and others in maintaining their newly planted hedgerows.
• Communicate with wider supporters/stakeholders such as schools, colleges, parish councils and community groups with an invitation to plant hedgerows.
• Contribute to the production of a detailed publicity programme aimed at publicising the Hedgerow Heroes project, recruiting support, securing additional plants, acknowledging partners and the funder.
• Provide a monthly report for partners, the funder, trustees and colleagues.
• Attend regular project meetings with our National Office (online).
Planning and Delivery
• Timetable and map the days where hedgerows will be planted and/or restored.
• Keep to the project budget and record expenditure.
• Secure the equipment from the project budget.
• Ensure plants, equipment materials (i.e. stakes and binders) and risk assessments are all in place for each day.
• Liaise directly with the various parties involved in this project, including professional hedgerow planting trainers instructing courses, volunteers, landowners, community groups and other relevant organisations.
• Oversee and attend each planting day.

• You will be an enthusiastic self-starter, keen to work in a small team in a flexible and adaptable way.
• You will need to have good IT skills and some office experience will be an advantage.

Sustrans’ Strategy, Impact and Evidence team is a leading centre of excellence in active travel research, monitoring and evaluation and we are recruiting now. As an Evidence Officer, you will work on a range of behaviour change and infrastructure projects, providing monitoring, evaluation, and analytical support. The Strategy, Impact and Evidence teamplays an important part in supporting our vision by providing robust evidence on sustainable and active travel that ultimately influences and shapes policy, practice and behaviour across the UK.
Focusing on monitoring and evaluating the impact of infrastructure and behaviour change programmes, you will work on a range of projects around the UK and be involved in the planning, delivery, analysis and reporting of our monitoring and evaluation work.

About you

What You’ll Do
This role enables the DEC and our 15 member charities to effectively respond to humanitarian emergencies and provide timely, quality, community-focused assistance.
As an Accountability & Learning Officer, alongside your efforts to contribute to our learning and growth, you will shape our work to influence key policy agendas. You’ll be working across such areas as climate adaption, flexible funding for humanitarian action, and locally led humanitarian responses.
Overseeing our monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities, you will support the set-up of projects, build relationships, and co-ordinate activities in all our current operational theatres.

About the team
The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 16 staff. Impetus has an annual income of £10 million, which we are looking to grow to £12–£14 million within the next few years. The team is led by the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships.
The Philanthropy Team works with major donors, corporates and grant-making trusts, as well as collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we make a compelling case to generate new financial commitments and wider support for our work. The team also delivers a high-quality engagement programme of volunteering and pro bono support for Impetus’s corporate partners.
In addition to our direct grants, we have several themed funds that support specific areas of our work, currently Connect and Engage, with plans to launch Skills and Attainment. An important part of this role is working closely with the Investment team to shape compelling cases for each fund, and with the Philanthropy team to connect them with the most suitable donors.
Impetus is driven by a shared belief in tackling the barriers that hold back young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in education and employment. About this role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Philanthropy Team as an interim Events Officer. The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual who has a positive, can-do attitude, who enjoys working independently and as part of a team.
Impetus has a successful annual programme of fundraising and cultivation events including the Transforming Lives Dinner, the Impetus Triathlon and Impetus Future Party. We are looking for an Events Officer to support our programme of events, while also working creatively to innovate and improve our practices.
Reporting to the Head of Events, the Events Officer is an integral part of the Impetus team, supporting our calendar of fundraising and engagement events.
The Events Officer will be involved in all aspects of events management such liaising with venues and suppliers (catering, production, design), working with sponsors, event marketing, guest management and finance tracking. This is a role that will allow the postholder to take a high level of ownership for the sections assigned to them.
You will join a small, passionate and hardworking Philanthropy team.
As part of the role, you will be required to attend in person meetings and our key fundraising events. Currently scheduled are:

Key responsibilities
Event Delivery
- Work with the Head of Events and Events Manager on all Impetus’s major fundraising events, including the Transforming Lives Dinner, the Impetus Triathlon and the Impetus Futures Summer Party.
- Support our calendar of cultivation events such as the Pro Bono Breakfast and Philanthropy Breakfasts.
- Support research and planning of the annual events programme in line with the wider organisational strategy and objectives.
- Assist the Head of Events with on-site event management for all Impetus events.
- Source auction and raffle prizes, management of auction software and fulfilment of prizes.
Event Administration
- Manage the administration of all events, including invitation lists, invoices and general enquiries, working with the Head of Events to improve processes
- Responsible for managing all guest RSVPs across events, keeping guestlists up to date and accurately tracking responses on our CRM system
- Organise all administration resources for events, including name badges, delegate lists and signage
- Support the creation of post event reports, analysing data from each event and trends across previous years for the Philanthropy Team and wider organisation
- Supporting with invoicing, accounting, expenditures and financial reconciliation and assist with monthly reporting on income to Finance

- Manage all incoming enquiries for the Events Team via a shared inbox

Community Energy is gaining momentum nationally, where people are increasingly coming together to take control of their own energy supplies. Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE, pronounced “juice”) is looking to see local communities along the Grand Union canal in Hertfordshire enjoy a clean and resilient energy system that benefits all. We develop, support and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for communities from Watford to Tring, and build householder resilience by helping them reduce their bills and energy use.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in project management to join our small but expanding team. The Project Manager for Community Energy will be responsible for converting opportunities for local renewable energy generation and energy efficiency projects into reality. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it’s harming too many lives. At Prostate Cancer UK, one of our top priorities is funding research that leads to real change. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Research Impact Officer to help us understand, communicate and accelerate the impact of the research we fund.
This role sits in the Research Impact and Engagement Team. You’ll be working at the heart of how we track the progress of completed research projects, share success stories and support researchers in turning their findings into ways to improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer. You’ll take responsibility for half of our portfolio of completed research projects. This means building strong relationships with funded researchers, understanding how their work is progressing, and supporting them to achieve meaningful impact for men affected by prostate cancer. Using your scientific knowledge and communication skills you’ll translate research outputs into clear, engaging stories to demonstrate the value of our work. Using your understanding of the steps needed to take research from bench to bedside you’ll help monitor the success of our completed research portfolio.
What we want from you
This role is a vital part of how we deliver on our mission, to stop prostate cancer harming men and their families. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about research making an impact and hold a bio-medical science degree (or a degree in a related subject), with research experience. You can understand complex scientific information presented in reports, publications or presentations and explain these complex concepts in a simple and engaging way to a range of audiences including peers within the charity, as well as men affected by the disease. You’ll be motivated to consistently perform to the highest standards, with an eagerness to trial new ideas, identify new opportunities and solve problems.
In any one day you could be helping develop an impact case study for the website, interviewing researchers for project updates, supporting delivery of a research event, or using social media to disseminate the work of our funded researchers. Your primary focus will be on the impact of our funded research, working closely with colleagues in the Research Impact and Engagement Team, as well as working closely with our research funding team, and with other teams across the charity.

The Organisation
Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs). As we believe in the Social Model of Disability, our values and principles embrace inclusive and accessible ways of working, seeking co-production and co-design from our Disabled members, encouraging and respecting diversity. AoD is a medium sized charity with a Board of Trustees, 27 staff, a strong pool of casual staff and volunteers, including many with lived experience of disability – all of whom are passionate about removing the barriers faced by Disabled people.
Action on Disability provides four key services: Youth, Employment, Welfare Benefits, and Independent Living.
The Project
Our Place is a project that is facilitated and managed by AoD. It is a 3-year National Lottery Community fund and Propel London funded project that will sit within our Independent Living Service. Our Place creates a community space and resource hub that Disabled people can call their own – led by them and facilitated by AoD staff. This service will be genuinely embedded in the local area, meeting needs expressed by local Disabled people to have their own place, and building links with amenities, businesses, and event spaces in Hammersmith and Fulham.
We want to enable businesses to feel more confident to welcome Disabled people and remove barriers. We want to create an inclusive and accessible space for Disabled people to socialise, build skills, pursue interests, and develop peer relationships.
Our Place operates alongside, and enhances, our current service provision. Central to this is ensuring that Disabled people have meaningful ownership over the space, from Steering Board input to operational delivery.
Disabled people will achieve their potential through four outcomes:
- Increased confidence, knowledge, and skills through opportunities to lead, learn and do new things.
- Reduced isolation and improved mental well-being through a place to socialise.
- Equity of access and participation in the local community.
- Mitigation of the pandemic’s impact, through building new opportunities.

Job Title Director of Marketing and Communications
Reporting to Chief Executive
Working Hours 37.5 hour working week, 9:00 to 5:30 Monday to Friday to include some evening and weekend hours as required
Location Onsite at the Company office in Fitzrovia (currently 175/176 Tottenham Court Road) and surrounding local area as required to carry out the duties of the company. Flexibility for one day pw working from home.
Job Purpose
This role is a senior leadership team member and strategic lead for all corporate and consumer communications, member business engagement and marketing.
The relationship with our business community is essential to the success of The Fitzrovia Partnership (TFP) and the delivery of the organisation’s vision and it is a key part of our strategy to ensure that businesses are aware of us and the services and projects we deliver. As such you would be responsible for the delivery of member engagement.
You will lead the marketing and communications function and manage the Marcomms team, continually developing and implementing effective marketing and communications strategies clearly articulating TFP’s vision, aims, projects and services.
Finally, you will provide strategic oversight and development for:
· Member communication strategy including BID renewal communications
· Consumer communications and campaigns strategy
· Social, wellbeing, member event and training programmes
· All communications channels including newsletter, websites, social media
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Leadership
· To play a role together with the CEO and the Director of Policy and Place in setting the overall vision of the organisation and ensuring delivery specifically in relation to the agreed business plan.
· Have a key role working closely with the Board and relevant sub-groups.
· To represent the organisation publicly as required, and step in for the CEO as required.
Member Engagement
· Driving, developing and ensuring implementation of the member engagement strategy.
· Ensuring effective account management contact with member businesses.
· Developing a detailed mid-term consultation and review.
- Overseeing market research and consultation such as surveys, customer questionnaires and focus groups to inform the development of plans, projects and services.
· Ensuring effective response management to enquiries from members (levy paying businesses) and stakeholders.
· Ensuring the company database is maintained as an accurate source of interactions with businesses and members, and is actively utilised to best effect.
· Ensure a programme of engagement is in place with the business community, charities and Not for Profit organisations to develop outreach projects including volunteer days and CSR activities for our business members.
Strategy and oversight
· Developing and ensuring implementation of an effective Marketing and Communications strategy aligned to business goals.
· Producing an Annual Marketing and Communications Plan to implement the strategy effectively communicating and supporting our vision, projects and services.
· Developing and ensuring implementation of communication, marketing and activity strategies to deliver the aspirations of new work streams.
· Continual building of insights from businesses on their specific needs and requirements.
· Advising the Senior Leadership Team on brand, campaigns and public engagement.
· Owning and developing key messages for all main programme streams.
· Owning the brand identities including their evolution and ensuring full brand guidelines are in place.
Consumer Marketing
· Developing and ensuring implementation of an effective consumer communications strategy.
· Leading on development of collateral centring around the TFP website and social media.
· Oversight of consumer campaigns and ensuring effective evaluation and impact studies.
· Overall responsibility and accountability for the events programme including risk management governance.
· Experience of design and working with/commissioning designers.
Projects
· Developing, refreshing and ensuring implementation of project specific communications (new and existing).
· Providing creative input and Marcomms elements of new, placemaking and cultural projects.
· Identifying and securing brand-aligned sponsorships to enhance destination campaigns.
· Driving joint marketing with businesses, tourism and media partners.
· Structuring BID renewal communications based on insights gained throughout the BID term.
Communication and Marketing Channels and Collateral
· Ensuring production of high quality and effective collateral.
· Considering and where appropriate developing new communications channels.
· Ensuring TFP’s messaging is clear, effective, accurate and alive to different audiences and local and other sensitivities.
Team Leadership
· Leading and developing a high-performing, collaborative MarComms team
· Managing MarComms budgets, procurement, KPIs, forecasting and reporting to ensure best value and effective impact.

Person Specification
- Strong and proven experience of developing, shaping and ensuring implementation of marketing and communications strategies.
- Experience in corporate and consumer marketing and communications.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of marketing and communication techniques and strategies, positioning and implementation of brand management identities.
- Degree-level or professional equivalent qualification in Marketing and/or Communications.
- Confident interpersonal and communication skills for face to face and remote interactions.
- Staff management and development experience gained first-hand.
- Evidence of leadership presence and contribution to an organisation.
- Exceptional personal planning, project management and organisational skills.
- Adept at independent working taking accountability for own and team’s workload and timely deliverables of work, along with the flexibility to adapt to change.
- Ability to communicate and work cohesively and collaboratively with a wider team and colleagues.
- A flexible approach, professional outlook and positive attitude is essential.
- Proficient in canva, media databases, CRM systems, social media management dashboards, web CMS.
- Ability themselves and to instill in others to work to tight deadlines whilst caring to ensure a high standard of work quality.
