Reporting into the Strategic Finance Business Partner, this post will lead an established capital finance team, providing proactive and independent support to directorates while overseeing all financial aspects of the Council’s ambitious Capital Programme. The organisation:
Walsall is situated within the West Midlands and is one of four Local Authorities comprising the Black Country. It contains six urban district centres: Walsall Town Centre lies at the heart of the Borough, surrounded by Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Darlaston and Willenhall. The Borough covers 40sq miles and is bisected by the M6 motorway.

The key duties of the Lead Accountant (Capital) will be:

• Lead a small finance capital team, ensuring high-quality service delivery across the Council’s ambitious Capital Programme.
• Co-ordinate capital monitoring, close down, and budget setting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Provide robust financial appraisals and cost-benefit analyses for business cases to support senior decision-making.
• Identify and manage financial risks across the Capital Programme, liaising closely with directorate management.
• Present complex financial information to Senior Managers, Executive Directors, scrutiny panels and public meetings.
• Act as a key link between service accounting/finance managers, ensuring resources are effectively planned and utilised.
• Continuously review and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and value for money.
• Deputise for senior finance managers as required, representing the Council at regional meetings and projects.

The successful candidate will have:

• Full membership of CIMA, CCAB or equivalent, with post-qualification experience.
• A strong technical background with proven experience in capital accounting, financial reporting, and risk management.
• Demonstrable experience of managing and developing staff.
• The ability to communicate complex financial information to a wide range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial.
• Experience of treasury, audit or statutory accounts would be advantageous.
• Ideally, a background in the public sector, but this is not essential.

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) are recruiting for a new Chief Executive .

BFT is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, we have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands. They demonstrate large scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace this alternative model for land use and conservation.

The charity’s previous Director has led the organisation for five years, and BFT are in a strong position, ready to develop a new organisational strategy and grow. This is a role of great strategic importance to the charity and the role is varied, with a broad remit.  

The Chief Executive role has organisational responsibility for 12 members of staff, some office based but most out and about across the countryside in which BFT works.  

As Chief Executive, you’ll bring proven senior leadership experience and the ability to get the best from staff and volunteers. A natural communicator, you’ll engage confidently with a wide range of people – from volunteers and donors to policymakers and conservation experts. 

You’ll have experience generating significant income in the not-for-profit sector, alongside strengths in strategic planning and programme development. Passionate about conservation, you’ll be an inspiring ambassador for Borders Forest Trust, able to share our impact and build lasting partnerships that help us achieve our vision.

  We have a new Housing job opportunity where you will be working with a team of Housing professionals with the aim of supporting some of the districts’ most vulnerable adults to move on from temporary accommodation. 

  
  You will be managing all temporary and emergency accommodation placements on behalf of Cotswold District Council. The role involves working closely with homeless clients in various emergency accommodation arrangements. The aim is to assist these individuals in accessing affordable housing options and ultimately reducing the time they spend in short-term accommodation.

  
  • You will be based primarily within one of our Hostels working intensively with homeless clients to enable them to access the full range of affordable housing options with the aim of reducing time spent in short term accommodation.

  
  • The role involves travel across our district to visit homelessness households in their temporary accommodation (including Hostels and various B&B’s) with the aim of assisting them with maximising all of the housing options available to them to ensure that they are able to move on from temporary        accommodation as soon as possible.

  
  • Create bespoke ‘Tenancy Ready’ plans for each client and ensure that they have access to the appropriate support and resources to achieve this.

  
  • You will also take part in assisting the Temporary Accommodation Supervisor in ensuring that full risk assessments are carried out on each client before being offered a placement in Council managed accommodation.

  
  • Assist with the daily running of the homeless hostel’s, ensure repairs are promptly reported to the Property Service Team and assist with ensuring H&S risk assessments are up to date and adhered to.

Community Organiser @ Big Local Works

Are you an experienced community organiser looking to make a real difference in an urban community? Do you have experience of working with minoritised and marginalised communities? Are you a people-person with the skills and tenacity to help local people start exciting new initiatives?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at Big Local Works (BLW) as our Community Organiser. Based on a historic Market Square recently refurbished with £2m from the GLA, we want to develop a more people-powered regeneration to sit alongside the massive property development happening all around us.

As well as driving economic improvements, we want to help create a more tolerant, cohesive, and vibrant local community where everybody is welcome. Part of that is to help local people create more community events, activities, and enterprises that give people the chance to collaborate together and build a lively community where people work and play together.

We need someone with the imagination, creativity and skill to support communities and individuals to have a say in how their community develops, but also take an active part in shaping the area. We have already helped many local people set up their own initiatives, building their confidence and helping them find resources – including the Bermondsey Literature festival, Latin markets, and a range of dance, ecology and arts projects.  This role could help shape the future of South Bermondsey and help us make a great place even better – with a more inclusive economy and community for all.

Key to this is better involvement and increasing the visibility of people from a wider range of backgrounds, in a highly divided area. You’ll play a key role in fostering a welcoming community by helping navigate occasional conflicts, with support from your manager, and approaching challenging interactions with empathy and professionalism.

General Information

Big Local Works (BLW) is a community-focused economic and social inclusion charity based in Bermondsey, South East London. We want to help create a thriving, inclusive local economy and a community in which everyone can participate.

We deliver our support in the community through three main services:

• Expert welfare and benefits advice and advocacy for local people experiencing poverty and hardship
• Employability Skills training and coaching to help people access ways of increasing their earned income
• Start-up and enterprise support for clients who wish to start trading on the local ‘Blue Market’ People Powered Regeneration
• Wider community building designed to create a more tolerant, diverse, and lively local community where everybody is welcome

We have a strategic vision to create a ‘people-powered regeneration’ in an area already undergoing massive redevelopment. In July 2019, a community campaign was successful in securing £2m funding from the GLA for the ‘Made in Bermondsey’ regeneration project centred on making key improvements to the local marketplace,

the Blue Market in South Bermondsey. Final works were completed in July 2022 and the market now has a first-class infrastructure for traders, local residents and visitors to use and enjoy the Blue Market Place. The market also showcases a vision of a better future for the local area: a more prosperous, resilient and connected local community where people come together to trade, socialise, and celebrate across the diverse boundaries.

South Bermondsey has a problematic history with racism and other forms of intolerance, and while migrant (recent and longer-term) communities have begun to settle in Bermondsey after many years of exclusion, there remains a sense that they are not full members of our community. Through our work we seek to empower local people, encourage enterprise and community activity, which is intended both to support the economic regeneration of the area and to empower and increase the confidence of local diverse communities.

Most recently, we have been successful in securing £200,000 from the Esmee Fairbairn Charity for strategy and community engagement support in the local area.

Our key goals are

• Local people have more say over the changes in their local community.
• This means that local people are actively involved in the development of place-based community assets,activities and projects.
• Local people will have more influence on local development and regeneration.

Community Organiser – Enterprise and Engagement

Over the past 2 years, we’ve undertaken in-depth research and community mapping to understand our area’s needs, assets and lived experiences.

This role has three key responsibilities:

• Outreach and engagement with diverse local communities to help them build a stronger, more representative voice.
• Supporting the development of new initiatives by local people to stimulate a sense of community.
• Ensuring that a wider range of local people are involved and included in community activity, and their voices heard – especially those from marginalized communities

Key Tasks include

• Provide practical support and encouragement to the development of new initiatives in the local area.
• Broker collaborations and relationships between local groups, helping them develop relationships and networks.
• Identify and develop active citizens, and support them to develop and deliver their own individual and shared community Initiatives – from microbusinesses on the market, to dance and knitting clubs or arts groups
• Facilitate groups and provide ‘servant leadership’ for community groups where appropriate, managing conflict effectively
• Develop effective and positive relationships with local stakeholders from many different backgrounds, communicating assertively and with diplomacy and tact.
• Organise Events: Plan and host public and private events, both online and in person, to strengthen community ties and increase visibility.

Job Purpose

As an Overnight Homeless Shelter Worker, you’ll be part of a small, professional team running Glass Door’s night shelters between November and April. Working alongside at least one other staff member, you’ll be awake and engaged throughout the night, supporting up to 35 guests who are experiencing homelessness. 

Your role is about creating a safe, calm, and welcoming space where guests can rest, feel respected, and be treated with dignity. You’ll build trust through friendly conversation, keep an eye on everyone’s wellbeing with regular checks, and step in when problems arise – from offering reassurance to someone in emotional distress, to calmly handling challenging behaviour, to calling emergency services if needed. 

Most nights are steady and focused on guest support, but there can be moments of pressure. We’ll provide training so you feel confident and prepared. You’ll also help serve a light breakfast in the morning and ensure our equipment is packed and ready for the next night – with one of you driving the van back to base.

• Welcoming and supporting guests – Create a friendly, respectful atmosphere and build positive relationships with guests, volunteers, and colleagues. 

• Staying alert all night – Carry out regular checks around the shelter (every 20 minutes) to make sure guests are safe, and comfortable. 

• Responding to situations – Calmly manage any issues that arise, such as someone feeling unwell, experiencing emotional distress, or showing challenging behaviour. This may sometimes mean calling emergency services. Training will be provided. 

• Keep the shelter safe and secure – Follow all safety, security, and health and safety procedures. This includes locking and unlocking doors and making sure the space stays tidy and free from hazards. 

• Recording important information – Write clear, accurate shift reports and note any concerns or observations. Complete incident forms if needed. 

• Supporting volunteers – Offer direction and guidance to volunteers on shift so everyone works well together. 

• Enforcing behaviour expectations – Address situations where may display challenging behaviour, using a calm and respectful approach, conflict de-escalation training is provided for all staff. 

• Packing and unpacking the van – unload equipment and supplies into the van at the start of the shift and repack at the end of the night. The allocated driver will return the van to base (driver shifts are paid for an extra hour). 

• Restocking supplies – Keep an eye on essentials such as tea, coffee, and toilet paper, and restock from the van when needed. 

• Preparing a simple breakfast – In the morning, help serve drinks, toast, and porridge, and make sure guests are woken from 6am so they can leave by 7am. 

• Tidying and closing down – Gather equipment, pack it away, and ensure nothing is left behind. 

• Training and meetings – Attend occasional in-person training sessions, team meetings, or other activities. From time to time, you may be assigned online training to complete while on shift. 

• Work to a rota – Shifts will include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, so flexibility is important. 

• Help with other tasks as needed – From time to time, you may be asked to help with other reasonable tasks that keep the night shelter running smoothly.

• A genuine commitment to providing a high standard of service and treating everyone with respect, kindness, and dignity.

The Role

As Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of LTM, ensuring robust financial management, governance, and performance. This is a pivotal role on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), reporting directly to the Director and attending all Board meetings. You will also deputise for the Director when required.

This role goes beyond traditional finance leadership. You will be a moderniser—driving transformation, leading negotiations, overseeing broader business support functions, and contribute to LTM50, including capital programme oversight. You will be the face of financial and business systems at LTM, helping to deliver a future-fit museum aligned with our strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of LTM’s overall budget, ensuring financial sustainability across short, medium, and long-term goals
• Oversee all aspects of financial control, governance, reporting, and compliance with statutory, charity, and TfL requirements
• Deliver timely and accurate statutory accounts, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
• Lead business support functions and liaise with TfL departments including HR, Procurement, Reward, Tech and Data and Finance
• Provide strategic financial advice to the Board of Trustees, SLT, and wider teams
• Represent LTM in financial negotiations with external partners and suppliers
• Champion a high-performing, inclusive finance team—setting clear goals, recognising success, and modelling LTM’s values

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with a proven track record in senior finance leadership roles within complex organisations, and will be able to demonstrate:

• Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls;
• Broad operational knowledge including digital transformation, estates, and HR;
• Experience navigating challenging financial climates and driving efficiencies.

Context

ActionAid UK (AAUK) is a complex, values- driven organisation which is implementing an exciting new 2025-2028 strategy with one overarching goal:

Decolonise our systems and practices to tackle the root causes of inequality and justice. Four strategic goals will steer our direction:

1. Champion women’s rights organisations and feminist movements driving systems

3. Build donor, political and popular support for fair and just systems.

Alongside the strategy, a transformation and innovation programme will embed a fundamental shift in the way the organisation operates, involving significant and sustainable changes to its culture, systems and practises. Transformative change at AAUK means change that is fundamental, lasting, and which challenges existing internal and external structural inequalities. A priority is to change the way we currently approach monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) at an organisational level, looking specifically at how we assess change and impact across our yearly organisational plans and within the four-year strategy. 

AAUK is seeking a qualified consultant or a company to collaboratively design, develop and deliver a new approach to capturing change and impact at ActionAid UK, moving the organisation away from traditional types of metrics and methods.

We are looking for you to conduct a light-touch review of our current organisational methods and tools and develop a new organisational transformative change framework, training workshop and action plan. We would like this consultancy to:

• Develop an approach to capturing transformative change and impact over time which captures gradual/incremental or exponential changes.
• Capture systematic changes and shifts in thinking and behaviour/culture
• Enable staff to feel confident to gather and interpret evidence of change alongside diverse experiences including their own
• Enable AAUK to capture collective contributions to change, recognising that no single action or individual makes change happen.
• Help us use the information we gather to inform and improve our work and better understand our unique role within the complex ecosystem of organisations and partnerships in which we work.

 

Objectives of the assignment

• Review and support the transformation of our organisational monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning processes to align with our new strategy and decolonial approach.
• Develop an organisational transformative change framework/toolkit and action plan, enabling staff to confidently capture impact over time and foster a culture of innovation, learning and accountability across the organisation.

Deliverables

The consultant / firm will work in collaboration with colleagues from AAUK Leadership and Transformation teams to:

• Create a plan and methodology that is aligned to our strategic objectives, decolonial approach and transformation activities.
• Conduct a light-touch process review, including desk research and conversations with key members of staff – to understand our current organisational monitoring and reporting processes, methods and tools.
• Develop a new Transformative Change organisational framework/toolkit which includes methods and tools for measuring change at organisational and team level and establishes a baseline from which we can improve and which captures both successes and challenges.
• Develop a staff training workshop on the new framework and tools.
• Provide a workplan with future recommendations and actions.

Required skills and experience

• At least 5 years of experience working on MEAL system design and implementation in the INGO or development sector.
• Experience of working with WROs or social rights movements.
• Strong knowledge of innovative qualitative and quantitative MEAL methodologies.
• Experience in participatory approaches and facilitating organisational learning.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

We’re now seeking an ambitious, senior leader in fundraising and marketing for a unique opportunity to become our new Executive Director of Charities. The role will be responsible for shaping the future of our three NHS charities - Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity, Evelina London Children’s Charity, and Guy’s Cancer Charity and deliver impact that changes lives every day.

What you’ll do

Reporting directly to our CEO, you will lead the Charities Team – overseeing directors across fundraising, marketing, funding & impact, strategy and innovation, and business and play a key role on the Foundation’s Executive Team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leadership & culture – uniting teams behind a shared vision, fostering high performance, and embedding diversity and inclusion.
• Strategy & fundraising – driving ambitious income growth, shaping large-scale propositions, and championing a culture of philanthropy across the Foundation and the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
• Funding & impact – ensuring we invest strategically in health and equity, while strengthening how we measure and demonstrate impact.
• Partnerships – building deep, collaborative relationships with the Trust’s Executive team, senior clinical leaders, donors and partners.
• Governance & oversight – ensuring robust structures, efficiency and capability for long-term growth and success.

Who you are:

• A vision and mission driven leader, encouraging diverse, positive and collaborative cultures; and developing inclusive processes.
• A proven track record in strategic fundraising and marketing leadership and income growth.
• Experience building and leading high-performing teams in complex organisations, including leading leaders.
• Skill in strategy development and delivery, with the commercial acumen to drive results.
• The ability to inspire diverse stakeholders from senior NHS leaders to high-value donors.
• A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
