Policy and Networks Officer

About the role
FLEX is looking for a passionate advocate with a good understanding of the UK political system, of labour abuse and/or exploitation and human trafficking in the UK, and demonstrable experience of coalition working and building relationships with key stakeholders working in the anti-trafficking, employment rights, and/or immigration sectors. This recruitment comes at an exciting and challenging time for our work at the intersection of employment rights and immigration policy. This role will inform and support our work to influence and improve law, policy and practice affecting worker in high-risk sectors in the UK.
In this role, you will lead on FLEX’s advocacy at the London level and coordinate the joint research advocacy and project work of FLEX networks and coalitions. These currently include the Labour Exploitation Advisory Group (LEAG) and the Taskforce on Victims of Trafficking in Immigration Detention, two networks made of expert organisations directly supporting people who have experienced or are at risk of exploitation. Above all this role requires someone with real passion and commitment to FLEX’s work to end labour exploitation and an excitement for working in a small, dynamic team.

We are seeking a motivated and efficient Events Assistant to join our growing and welcoming organisation. About the role
Managed by the Head of Public Policy, this is a role which is designed to work across our small team, supporting the management of a wide range of events (online and in person) as well as providing some support for communications, meetings and other areas as they develop.
We organise and host a wide variety of events from large public lectures to small networking events, in-person dinners to online seminars and meetings. Some of these are established annual events and some are one-off. At these events and meetings, we host stakeholders from across Welsh political and public spheres as well as engaging and involving our 700+ Fellows who represent excellence across academia and beyond.
This role will focus primarily on events relating to LSW’s Strategic Priority 1: “Contribute to major policy solutions by providing independent advice and facilitating knowledge exchange”. These events typically relate to one of the following five topics:
1. Facilitating the provision of evidence and expertise to inform public policy, with stakeholders including Welsh Government, the Senedd, the UK Government Wales Office, and the Westminster Welsh Affairs Committee.
2. Convening discussions on policy matters impacting research and innovation sectors, such as EDI, research culture, funding, open research, and civic engagement.
3. Advocating for the importance of all research, innovation, and knowledge in and for Wales.
4. Supporting and advocating for Wales Studies, i.e. research about Wales.
5. International engagement to raise Wales’s profile among science and research stakeholders internationally, and give Wales a voice in key conversations in the global science and research world. (Most current work is in Scotland and Ireland, with increasing European engagement)
You will also provide support across the team – including for the CEO, President, Head of Equity and Engagement, Communications Officer, and Events and Awards Officer where they require assistance with meetings, events and communications. You will be working with different members of the team depending on the particular event or activity so you will manage your own time – with support from your line manager.

What will ideally support your success?
You’ll be a CCAB qualified accountant with experience of strategic financial leadership and management experience and the ability to solve complex problems. In addition, you’ll have experience of working with and advising a diverse range of boards and external stakeholders. It’s important that you also have experience of current financial reporting requirements and financial management practices, including consolidated financial reporting. Strong IT skills as well as an appreciation and understanding of key HR and ICT challenges in the charity sector are desirable. We’re looking for someone possibly, but not exclusively, working in homelessness and/or international development who shows personal integrity in all they do and have a commitment and respect for our aims, objectives and values.

Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it.
Since our founding in 2017, we’ve proudly campaigned successfully for the recognition of economic abuse in UK law and influenced wide-ranging systemic change to transform responses to it. We're now entering an ambitious new phase, and we’re seeking a dynamic, strategic and values-led Head of Income as part of the Senior Leadership Teamto help drive it forward.
This is a critical time for SEA. With a bold three-year strategy now in place, we’re looking for an experienced income-generation leader to oversee and diversify our income streams — across high-net-worth giving, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, and earned income through consultancy and training. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Income will play a vital role in shaping the future of the organisation and enabling us to scale our impact.
The Head of Income will lead a talented team, including our Senior Fundraising Manager (trusts and foundations) and Corporate Development Manager (strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships), and collaborate closely with our CEO, Trustees and earned income delivery teams (consultancy and training) whilst also being hands on in relationship development. Your approach will be collaborative, survivor-centred and driven by SEA’s values. Job Purpose:
