Main Duties and Objectives:
- Establish ADC’s strategy that builds increased levels of engagement, understanding and involvement in our long-term plans
- Take overall accountability to shape and evolve our narrative and relevance across key audiences
- Shape our communications and engagement strategies
- Secure relevant media and interview opportunities to support overall positioning and earn media reach through engaging byline submissions
- Write speeches, prepare interview outlines and FAQ's, and directly support our founder with media readiness
- Lead, manage and support internal communications
- Ensure systems and frameworks are developed to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and engagement strategies to measure impact and ensure added value
- Use data and insights to measure the success of communications and engagement strategies

- A natural storyteller and great copywriter in English
- Excellent understanding of the global media landscape and how to make the most out of a story
- Brilliant communication skills and the ability to translate ideas into PR tactics, especially in the charity sector

- Develop and implement a communications strategy for ADC’s HR initiatives
- Create engaging content for ADC’s internal general channel regarding new joiners, exits promotions and other HR-related topics to keep Volunteers updated of organizational changes
- Manage the creation and distribution of HR-related marketing materials, namely newsletters, messages for emails, messages for posts, scripts for presentations, etc., to raise internal awareness about HR Projects and Initiatives
- Plan and execute internal HR events (virtual and in-person), such as town halls, induction sessions, get-togethers, etc
- Serve as liaison between the People Team and other teams to facilitate open and transparent communication
- Track the effectiveness of internal communications initiatives through surveys, analytics, and ADC’s Executive Team feedback to continually improve internal communications practices

Introduction to the Marketing, Outreach, and Advocacy vertical Lead role:
The Marketing, Outreach, and Advocacy Lead is the driving force behind Barawak’s communication, its brand identity and public presence. This strategic role involves developing and implementing marketing and outreach initiatives to amplify Barawak's mission and to advocate for the Afro-Hebrew community. It requires collaboration with trustees and programme leads to ensure consistent messaging and effective advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the development of ADC’s fundraising strategy, with a focus on developing long-term strategic public and private sector partnerships with global and regional corporates, institutions, foundations and high net worth individuals
- Play a role in relation to revenue generation by helping to define market relevant value propositions for consulting services based on our Theory of Change, with a goal of achieving a business model that is financially sustainable and delivers on ADC’s strategic vision for catalysing social impact
- Lead the creation of new social impact programs, interventions and goals that will inspire and drive the organisation to deliver social impact at scale, and ensuring that the ADC approach and Theory of Change is upheld and enhanced
- Lead the development of thought leadership initiatives that position ADC as an influential driver of systemic social change in Africa and leader in social impact research
- Play a role in creating and maintaining social impact content, and making it accessible to our Marketing & Communications team for sharing with internal and external audiences to promote ADC’s work

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

- +15 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector
- A track record of leading successful fundraising campaigns and grants applications
- Experience of design and delivery of social impact programs

The Infection Prevention Society are recruiting a volunteer to join our Board of Trustees as our new Finance Trustee.
Our charity is about to begin a period of transformational change. We are in the process of recruiting our first staff-team, and are now looking for an excellent Finance Trustee to work with the Board of Trustees and chair our Audit & Finance Committee, supporting our new six-strong team (which will include a CEO and a Financial Controller who is an experienced and qualified charity accountant).

The aim of the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is to inform, promote and sustain evidence-based infection prevention policy and practice to create a health and care system where no person's health and wellbeing is harmed by preventable infection.
Our broad membership includes infection control practitioners, scientists, clinicians and industry experts and we support our members via branches across the UK and Ireland. We deliver educational opportunities to support best practice in infection prevention and control through an annual conference, study days, our academic journal, and research activity. We support our members with a competency framework and credentialing system, international engagement opportunities and product evaluation services for industry.
The IPS has an independent Board of Trustees who are responsible for governance and risk management functions of the society. These include developing long-term strategy, assuring financial stability and compliance with governing documents, and evaluating performance. The Board works with the Management Executive Group (MEG) who are responsible for leading and managing the business activity of the Society.
Who are we looking for?
Our new trustee must have skills in both of the following areas:
· Finance
· Strategic leadership
The trustee will chair our Audit and Finance Committee and as such will need to be a qualified accountant with a CCAB recognised qualification.
As a Trustee you will be able to contribute to the work of the society by:
· Shaping the strategic direction
· Making decisions that enhance its influence
· Assuring good governance of the Society
We are looking for applicants who really want to make a positive impact on our organisation. They should have strategic vision and good judgement, an ability to think creatively, and willingness to contribute opinions and ideas. A willingness to challenge is also desirable. An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship is desirable although Trustees induction and training would be available. Previous experience as a Trustee is also desirable but not essential. Although the trustee positions are unpaid, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Trustees induction and training would be available.
The Board of Trustees hold a minimum of four meetings per year and trustees are also expected to attend the Annual General meeting which is held in the autumn. The Audit and Finance Committee hold a minimum of four meetings per year. These meetings will primarily be held virtually. The time commitment is around 4 hours once a quarter.

Person Specification

· Previous governance experience in the not for profit or commercial sector is welcome but not compulsory.
· Interested individuals should be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for the work we do, an
unwavering promise to live our values and a commitment to work collaboratively and
positively with our board and staff teams to achieve the very best outcomes for bereaved
children.
· All Trustees are appointed for an initial term of two years and are eligible to re-stand for a
subsequent term. Members normally serve for two terms to ensure a balance of
continuity and refresh.
· The Board of Trustees normally meets four times a year and in addition, Trustees are
encouraged to take on responsibility and actively participate in sub-committees, attend
events and support the staff teams as appropriate.

Finance (Treasurer)
As Treasurer of the Board of Trustees, you will assist the Chair, Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team in ensuring that the Board fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper financial governance of Alzheimer’s Research UK, thereby enabling the most effective and efficient use of its funds to further its charitable aims and mission.
Investment
· We wish to appoint a new Trustee to bring high-level expertise in investments to the Board and to act as Chair to the Investment Committee.
Marketing and communications
· We are seeking a communications expert to advise the Board on how we can further enhance awareness of, and engagement with, the Charity in order to deliver its aims. Our new Trustee will have a strong background a related field such as brand development, marketing, advertising and/or PR.
All candidates
All candidates will need a good understanding of what’s involved in being a charity trustee and to be able to demonstrate the following:
- Passion for our vision of a world free from the heartbreak of dementia and preferably (although this is not essential) personal experience of dementia
- A good understanding of charity governance and ability to contribute constructively and collaboratively in a Board environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound judgement and integrity.

About our Board and the Trustee role
Trustees share the collective responsibility for the effective governance and development of Alzheimer’s Research UK, setting the Charity’s strategy and major policies in accordance with the Charity's vision, mission and values. They are responsible for monitoring performance against the Charity’s strategic aims and objectives, scrutinising the management of risk, and fulfilling the statutory governance obligations. They are also high-level ambassadors for the Charity and are expected to fully embody our values, which are to be determined, dynamic and change-making.
Trustees are appointed for an initial term of one year, followed up by up to three subsequent terms of up to three years (maximum of ten years).
In terms of commitment, our Board meets five times a year. These meetings take place in London and at our head office near Cambridge, but we also offer virtual options. The work of the Board is further supported by four sub-committees which meet up to three times a year, either in person or virtually. Trustees are expected to attend all meetings, where possible, as well as to join suitable sub-committees/ groups, based on their skills and expertise. We also encourage Trustees to engage in other activities where possible to support the work of the Charity.
In turn we hugely value their support and work with all our Trustees to shape their role around their skills and interests. We provide exciting opportunities for them to engage with the Charity’s work; provide support for all new Trustees through a full induction; and offer ongoing support from our senior management and governance teams.
This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses (e.g. travel) will be reimbursed.
