Job description

Do you want to work in a role where you can support people to rebuild their lives?

This is an exciting time to join our Westminster Move On and Resettlement Service as a Recovery Worker. We are looking for motivated self-starters who will work in a non-judgemental way and build meaningful, trusting relationships with our clients. The service is part of Westminster’s Rough Sleepers Pathway and the role involves:

  • Regularly travelling to meet our clients across 8 different houses set within the north of the borough.

  • Working with clients to bring out their strengths and support them to prepare for independent living.

  • Helping to create and maintain a supportive, safe environment for clients who have complex needs, including mental health, substance use, alcohol use, and complex traumas.

The role is predominantly Monday to Friday 9-5, working one weekend per month (Bank Holidays also included in work rota).

Please note – candidates will be asked their preference of contract at interview, however, may be offered any of the available vacancies.

About you

  • We believe in lived experience; we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have the ability to use their own experience to provide encouraging; empathetic and consistent support to vulnerable people.

  • This role will suit those with personal experience of homelessness, mental health issues and distress and who may have used homelessness, mental health, criminal justice; alcohol use, substance use, and/or recovery services.

  • The understanding and experience of mental health models such as Person Centered Approach and Open Dialogue.

  • Strong communication, influencing and reasoning skills and the ability to network and build effective relationships with a variety of different people.

  • Excellent organisation, and problem solving skills and the ability to manage your workload and prioritise effectively.

We’d always like to hear from people who want to help transform lives. Not sure if you have the skills and experience you need for the role? Apply and we’ll let you know!

St Mungo's are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from all under-represented groups.
