We are looking for a finance professional, someone who can provide the Charity with sound financial management. This role will be considered for hybrid working on completion of successful probationary period, although a minimum of 2 days in the office will be required.  

The ideal candidate will have:

About the role:

The Finance Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of effective transaction processing within MAG’S Corporate Finance Department. The role holder will efficiently manage the finance inbox and phone, responding to queries promptly, and escalating issues to the Corporate Finance Manager when necessary. In addition, you will manage the purchase and sales ledger, including registering and posting supplier invoices, maintaining supplier and donor details, raising sales and donor invoices, and ensuring accurate allocation and reconciliation of transactions. Preparing supplier payments, including international payments and BACS payment runs, and liaising with the bank on issues such as recalled payments and compliance investigations are integral parts of this role. Furthermore, you will assist in preparing samples for Grant and Statutory Audits, conduct monthly cash counts and manage the HQ safe cash system, including cash advances, payments, and bank runs.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have proven administration experience and the ability to prioritize work to meet tight deadlines, approaching tasks methodically and thoroughly, remaining calm under pressure and collaborating enthusiastically as part of a team. They should possess basic knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and demonstrate strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and the ability to quickly learn bespoke systems are essential. The successful candidate will have GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English with grades A*-C / Grades 9-4 or AAT Level 2.

Job Title: Family Support Worker

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families affected by domestic/sexual abuse. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing holistic support to mothers, children, and young people (CYP) during their time in refuge and as they transition into the community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Developing and Delivering Services:

   • Provide personalised 1:1 family support services to families residing in the refuge, addressing the impact of domestic/sexual abuse on the family unit.
   • Collaborate in planning and delivering activities tailored to parents and CYP, including educational, leisure, and therapeutic services.
   • Facilitate the strengthening of parent-child relationships and empower families to enhance their resilience.

2. Assessment and Risk Management:

   • Conduct comprehensive assessments of families' needs and risks, utilising organisational assessment tools and evaluation methods.
   • Assess and promote parenting skills and children's needs while supporting safety planning for families.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate to join our team covering Dumfries and Galloway. You will be involved in one-to-one advocacy along with group work across the area; this could be in a clients’ home or other suitable community venue and be home based for telephone referrals and administrative tasks.  Therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential. 

This is a full time role for 35 hours per week, applicants who do not hold the Level 2 Award in Independent Advocacy will start on £22,500 per annum.

About you

We actively encourage applications from those who are long term unemployed.

Desirably you will have some experience of working, providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education, training, benefits, employment, care and support.

You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.

You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options.

You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support.  You’ll be creative in your approach to empower our clients by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them.  You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.  This can be through 1-2-1 advocacy or in a group setting.
