Job description

The South East Cancer Help Centre, based in central Purley, is a highly regarded cancer support charity which has been operating for 37 years with modern offices, free parking and excellent public transport access.

We invite you to join us as our Community Fundraiser to lead a small team who deal with an established supporter base, manage events and develop new opportunities for fundraising.

You will act as the SECHC’s main contact for community fundraising.  Your work will include building new and developing existing fundraising relationships in the community in order to increase income. This will include raising funds from individuals, businesses, events and community organisations such as schools, rotary and golf clubs by growing positive relationships, including having regular meetings and telephone conversations.

This is a small fundraising team and a further key element of your role will be to supervise, support and motivate the team. You also will need to be comfortable working independently and be able to manage your own work load and set priorities.

You will need a range of office skills, including a good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher together with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) skills.

The successful candidate will probably have worked in the charity sector and must have good communication and customer service skills, together with a minimum of three years’ continuous employment experience as a fundraiser.

Reporting to the Executive, this position is a full-time role for 37.5 hrs per week or part-time and flexible working office days and hours will be considered. Occasionally some work outside normal office hours may be required. Candidates interested in working part-time should apply.

To apply for this position please click on the above 'Apply on website' button and you will be directed to our website. In the first instance just submit your CV with a supporting statement making clear your suitability for the role against the attached job description. Applicants that are short listed will be contacted but will need to complete and submit our application form prior to final interviews.

Closing Date: Sunday 21st November 2021 with interviews held on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th November.
