Location (UK): Office Hybrid* - Belfast

Travel: Regular travel in and around Northern Ireland. Travel to London on an occasional basis for team meetings or training. Travel to events including occasional weekends or evenings.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser who has strong experience of raising money in Northern Ireland. This is a relationship-led role that would be ideal for someone who loves working with people and understands network mapping to maximise connection to cause to accelerate income growth. You will have experience of creating strategy, winning new business, and be happiest spending significant time out and about meeting people. While you will be based in Northern Ireland with strong connection to other colleagues based in and out of the Belfast office, this role is part of the Public Fundraising team who are based across England and you'll have regular contact with colleagues in the corporate fundraising and trusts teams.

About the role

In this role you will build strong relationships with volunteers, community groups, clubs, local businesses and others to inspire and motivate them to invest in a future free from arthritis. This is a new role for the charity, and it gives someone the opportunity to shape this area of work and lead on the income opportunities in Northern Ireland. But you won’t be starting from nothing; our Northern Ireland based staff and volunteer group have strong networks and brilliant ideas for supporting your success. You’ll also have support from the wider Public Fundraising team as well as the Philanthropy and Partnerships team. There is so much potential in this area and we’re looking for someone who is excited and has the skills to turn that potential into a strategy for success. And this work has never been more crucial; Arthritis UK Northern Ireland have recently published a landmark report calling for immediate action to tackle the growing musculoskeletal (MSK) health crisis in Northern Ireland, where people are waiting in pain for years to access a diagnosis and life changing surgery.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we would love to hear from you:

• Experience in partnership fundraising.
• Experience in public speaking, such as giving presentations and talking at events.
• Experience and a keen interest in building long-term relationships with supporters.
• Experience of winning new business, able to ‘make the ask’ for support and to influence/negotiate.
• Experience in working with volunteers to fundraise.
• Proactive and confident self-starter, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Skilled at supporter stewardship.  
• Skilled at building excellent relationships with a wide range of people.
• Able to spot opportunities and maximise them for income growth.

*As a hybrid worker the expectation is that you will spend around 40% of your working time in our office spaces or working in community settings.

The Role

In this role you will deliver locally tailored activity to grow income and engagement across a variety of income streams. Reporting directly to the Regional Fundraising Team Manager, the main responsibilities include:

• Representing the charity within the local community, to raise awareness and increase engagement.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with supporters including community groups, businesses and volunteers.
• Maintaining accurate data and ensuring compliant fundraising practice.
• Supporting in the implementation of the fundraising strategy. 

The Person

We are looking for someone that has exceptional communications skills, is passionate, enthusiastic and has the ability to develop relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. You must be confident presenting to community groups and networking with professionals. 

Previous experience of delivering income in a fundraising role across community, events, corporate or volunteer-led activity would be advantageous. You must be sensitive and empathetic to working in a hospice environment, and any knowledge or understanding of In-Memory and Legacy giving would be desirable.

You must be able to work flexibly including occasional evening and weekends as required.
