The Role
It is an exciting and varied position which would be perfect for somebody who is creative and organised with experience of building relationships, organising events and managing a diverse workload. You may already be a Regional Fundraiser looking for your next role with an ambitious medium-sized charity, or you may currently be in your first fundraising role, ready to take the next step in your career. Whatever your experience, we are committed to investing the time in developing the right individual. This new role will be shaped according to your skills and expertise, and will develop over time based on the success we have in building partnerships with local businesses, securing major donor support, running local events and engaging the community with our plans.
As a Regional Fundraiser, you’re a people-person, self-motivated, well-organised, able to multitask, a strong administrator, a fantastic team player, have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy being outdoors. You must be as comfortable in the boardroom engaging high net-worth individuals as you are donning wellies and waterproofs to stand on the side of a mountain for the day.
There will be plenty of opportunity to meet the young people on our programmes, visiting camps and taking part in activities. This will help you really understand the life-changing difference the Youth Adventure Trust makes and enable you to show our donors and fundraisers the tangible impact of their support.
The Charity
The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Wiltshire and Swindon. In 2024 we plan to expand our services to support young people from Somerset through our YAT Resilience Programme in the first instance but eventually through all four of our Programmes.
Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part.
The continued success of the fundraising team is more important than ever as we plan to increase our capacity and reach into a new geographical area. This is an exciting time to join a small charity with big ambitions and this role will be instrumental in enabling us to reach more vulnerable young people at a time when they need support more than ever.

The Role
Reporting to the Relationship Manager - North the Relationship Fundraiser – North East and Yorkshire will proactively acquire new donor and volunteer support to agreed targets and also deliver excellent stewardship of the overall experience leading to increased income.

The Role

The F2F (Face-to-Face) Membership Team is responsible for bringing in the majority of our new members, and our contribution needs to grow too. We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic and experienced Community Fundraising Manager to join our Fundraising Team at Spread a Smile. You will maximise income from all community fundraisers and deliver excellent relationship management to all of our supporters. Reporting to our Head of Fundraising, you will play an important part in helping us to reach our current annual fundraising target of £1.4m. You will be joining Spread a Smile during an exciting period of growth and development as we fulfil our goal of providing our unique support to all seriously ill children and their families across
the country, while delivering research that evidences the impact of our work. You will be joining during a time of significant uplift in community fundraising participation. You will be brilliantly organised, having had experience in a similar role in at least one other charity and you will be used to using a fundraising database as the backbone of your work. You will be willing to go the extra mile to support our amazing existing fundraisers to help them reach their fundraising goals as well as proactively developing and supporting new relationships, interacting with a wide range of people.
Core mission of the role
- You will manage our existing programme of challenge events, maximising income and providing excellent stewardship to participants. You will be responsible for securing places in new challenges, including an annual family fundraising event and other new challenge opportunities, increasing income year on year.
- You will be responsible for establishing and delivering a fundraising strategy for schools, colleges and other educational establishments, including attending assemblies and events to present about the charity’s work. You will also be responsible for identification, cultivation and development of a pipeline of potential new partners from other social groups, organisations and associations, clubs and societies and religious groups.
- You will work closely with the Senior Fundraising and Events Officer to support corporate partnerships raising £5k and under annually and supporting partnerships with local businesses and organisations who support Spread a Smile.
- You will work closely with the Head of Marketing to ensure all partnerships you are responsible for are appropriately credited in Spread a Smile marketing (including but not limited to social media, PR, website and e-newsletter).
- You will be responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts of Spread a Smile families in a sensitive and professional manner.
- As the charity expands into areas outside of London, you will be responsible for devising our regional fundraising strategy and delivering it with the fundraising team.
- You will be responsible for managing relationships with existing and new regular donors and individual givers, maximising income and providing an excellent level of stewardship.
- You will devise a strategy for our regular mailings including at Christmas and the distribution of our annual report, impact report etc., working closely with the fundraising team to ensure efficient and effective distribution.
- You will be responsible for ensuring Spread a Smile delivers an incredibly high level of stewardship across the board, ensuring we have a clear thanking process in place for all donors.
- You will manage our Fundraising Support Executive.
- Providing support to and co-ordinating Spread a Smile volunteers.
- Supporting Facebook and Instagram fundraisers.
- You will support and attend fundraising events when required, some of which may fall outside of working hours.
- You will ensure the fundraising database (Donorfy) is continually utilised and kept up to date.
- You will contribute to the annual income and expenditure budget in relation to community fundraising and keep the fundraising forecast updated on a regular basis.

- Salary of £35,000 - £38,000
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and additional days off over Christmas

You will be the face of the Alzheimer’s Society for dedicated supporters in your region: you will be their guide through the Will-writing process, the person they put their trust in, and their sounding board. Being a people person goes without saying.

This is an opportunity to take your experience of Face to Face (F2F) fundraising management to a whole new level – by leading our hugely impactful Festivals programme.
You’ll be responsible for managing the F2F festivals fundraising programme across 100+ events a year, delivering a target of c.3,000 long term supporters. Working closely with Events and Logistics colleagues, your role will encompass everything from strategic planning, advance preparation and training to resource management, performance monitoring and detailed reporting, as well as out of season work on door to door support.
Of course your focus will be on the festivals themselves, at which you’ll be expected to coordinate, develop and lead fundraisers by example, ensure safe transport, set up and use of all equipment, and uphold Greenpeace’s values at all times.
Location: Islington, London. Our hybrid working model enables us to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. We ask that staff work from the office in Islington 40% of their time, with 20% required as a minimum. Job requirements
You'll have:
- Substantial experience of leading and managing F2F fundraising teams, including performance management.
- Experience of F2F fundraising at festivals or events.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the adaptability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines and to remain calm under pressure.
- Good knowledge of MS Office packages, including PowerPoint and Excel, and Google Drive applications.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, with the flexibility to adapt communications between large corporate festivals and small scale markets.
- A genuine interest and enthusiasm for environmental issues and the work of Greenpeace.
