Job description

The Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) is a Charity and Company Limited by guarantee and is the representative body for Directors of Public Health (DPH) in the UK.

It seeks to improve and protect the health of the population through collating and presenting the views of DsPH; advising on public health policy and legislation at a local, regional, national and international level; facilitating a support network for DsPH; and providing opportunities for DsPH to develop professional practice.

The Association has a rich heritage, its origins dating back more than 160 years. It is a collaborative organisation working in partnership with others to maximise the voice for public health.

We are now looking for a proactive and politically aware professional with a strong interest in public health and reducing health inequalities to join our friendly and supportive team. You will build and develop partnerships, manage projects involving multiple partners, and work with members, stakeholders and decision makers to advance shared objectives. Bringing policy or public affairs experience, sound judgement, the successful candidate will be required to produce clear, accurate written materials for a range of audiences, from briefings and reports to policy statements and correspondence.

The role requires an excellent communicator and relationship-builder, confident representing the organisation externally and facilitating collaboration. Strong organisation and prioritisation skills are essential, along with the ability to manage a varied work programme and adapt to changing circumstances whilst delivering to deadlines.

The role is being advertised as being Hybrid working, meaning there is the option to work in the offices of one of the Welsh Health Boards, from home or a combination of the two. The post holder will be expected to attend regular meetings across Wales in person together with occasional meetings in London, and as such you will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and willing to work flexibly.

All applications must include a current CV and covering letter outlining why you feel you would be suitable for the role to be considered.
