Are you a finance expert with a heart for making a difference? Age UK Cheshire East is seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance Manager to join our passionate team. As the Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our finances, developing financial strategies, and ensuring the sustainability of our organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy: Collaborate with the CEO and trustees to develop a robust financial strategy aligned with the organisation's goals.
Financial Reporting: Provide timely and accurate financial reports, including management accounts, balance sheets, forecasts, and budgets for senior leadership and trustees.
Financial Management: Maintain meticulous financial systems and records, prepare budgets for negotiations and funding bids, and oversee the organisation's ledgers and cash book.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with Charity Commissioners’ regulations, company law, and financial management policies. Manage year-end accounts production and liaise with external auditors.
Team Leadership: Manage and motivate the Finance Assistant and Payroll Officer, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
Payroll and Accounts: Oversee payroll, manage bank accounts handle VAT returns, and oversee the gift aid system.
Strategic Support: Assist the Senior Leadership Team in identifying funding sources, market opportunities, and income generation strategies.
Confidentiality: Uphold utmost confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.

Salary: £44,000
Hours: Full time (36.25 hours)
Location: Remote working plus occasional travel to various locations in Cheshire East
Holiday Entitlement: 26 days plus bank holidays
Pension: There is a contributory pension scheme which complies with the employer pension duties as set out in the Pensions Act 2008. The employer contribution is 5% at current rates.

Our UK flexible working policy requires a minimum of 2 days per week attendance in the office as well as travel to other offices or to any other Blue Ventures locations when required

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally. Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe.

Summary job description
This new role will lead Blue Ventures’ arrangements for governance and coordinate corporate and legal compliance across the organisation. The position will work with the trustees and senior leaders as a trusted advisor, providing day-to-day coordination and oversight of all governance bodies, meetings and working groups and ensuring efficient information flows between all boards and committees.
The successful candidate will support the Chief People Officer and the Chief Finance Officer as the principal adviser to the trustee Chair and Executive Director and the corresponding boards and subcommittees on all issues relating to corporate governance for Blue Ventures Conservation and our affiliate entities internationally.
