Job purpose:
The External Affairs Manager will work closely with the Director and provide vital support to NACCOM and its members by:
- Ensuring the strategic planning, management and alignment of communications, policy, research, campaigns, and advocacy as part of the External Affairs function at NACCOM.
- Ensuring NACCOM’s external affairs functions feed from and into our network development work and our Community Ambassador / Research programme
- Growing and safeguarding NACCOM’s brand identity, integrity and strategic positioning across all our external channels, networks and audiences.
- Line-managing and supporting the Policy and Research Co-ordinator, Community Research Facilitator and part-time Communications Co-ordinator (currently covered by a freelancer) as well as managing any external consultants NACCOM works with across the External Affairs function.
- Along with the Director, acting as spokesperson for NACCOM.
- Overseeing the spend against budget for External Affairs-related work.
- Representing NACCOM at key, high-level meetings and coalitions, including with journalists, decision-makers and partners.

Relationship building:
· Ensure all corporate relationships receive exceptional stewardship and that appropriate cultivation plans are developed, maintained and implemented – in particular, quality and timely reporting of impact achieved against funding provided.
· Build relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within current and potential corporate partners to embed the organisation as a charity with a strong reputation for meeting the needs of corporate supporters.

Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service Limited, known as LDHAS, is a registered charity and they have been working with street homeless and vulnerably housed people for over 32 years. They provide essential needs support, advice and information, from their centre in Lancaster with additional support from visiting partner agencies like Citizens Advice, Changing Futures, SafeNet, Calico, Red Rose Recovery, the Hep C Trust and Inspire.
The Role
The post holder will operationally manage Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service ensuring effective day-to-day management and the delivery of high-quality support to street homeless individuals with complex needs. This role involves leading and managing a team of staff and volunteers and facilitating a hub for a range of services. The post holder will foster strong partnerships within the hub ensuring it operates efficiently, safely and in line with LDHAS's values and policies. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Fundraising Manager to lead and grow our corporate giving and partnerships income stream. Corporate Giving at SPEAR comprises just over 20% of our fundraised income, with a mix of direct giving, local COY partnerships and employee fundraising. Quest for Learning is an education charity on a mission to close the gap for primary school children in Oxfordshire who are falling behind - often due to complex and compounding disadvantage. Many of the children we support are growing up in poverty, with limited access to books, low parental literacy, and challenging home environments. About the Service
Income generation and fundraising at Solace is ambitious, dynamic and rewarding. This role is situated within the Business Development team working alongside our award-winning Communications, Partnerships & Public Affairs team.
This is an important time for Solace and we are seeking consummate professionals to help with an immediate need to secure funding for our existing services and to achieve sustainable growth and partnership working in support of our work to end violence against woman and girls.
Most importantly, the team aims to develop new responses to the changing ways in which women experience violence against them. The team is seeking to generate £2m+ net new income in the year ahead.
About the Role
In this role you will research and develop new business opportunities in line with our funding priorities and manage a portfolio of statutory and grant opportunities and funders. This will involve working with senior managers for bids on their services and conducting both internal and sector research into VAWG, health and social care, advocacy and advice. You will be required to proof read and edit the wider team’s bids, record submissions on the CRM system, and prepare reports for the senior leadership team and funders.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have measurable income generation experience in a bidding environment or writing proposals/funding applications, strong communication, written and oral skills, with experience of proof-reading, and the ability to manage multiple projects, always maintaining an excellent standard of work.
You will be dynamic and driven, able to work confidently both independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent attention to detail, be a team player who thrives under pressure and can work flexibly to deadlines. You will be numerate and confident working on project and service budgets.

The Society
The Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) is the learned society and professional body for geography and geographers. It is also a charity and a membership organisation. The Society was founded in 1830 and has been one of the most active of the learned societies ever since. It was pivotal in establishing geography as a teaching and research discipline in British universities and continues to play a key role in geographical and environmental education.
The Society is a leading world centre for geographical learning – supporting education, teaching, research, professional practice and scientific expeditions, as well as promoting public understanding and enjoyment of geography and providing advice to policymakers.
The position
The Royal Geographical Society (with The Institute of British Geographers) is seeking an Administrative assistant within the Director’s Office. This is an exciting opportunity to work across core areas of the Society and support key projects. The successful candidate must have an interest in Geography and enthusiasm for the work of the Society. The ideal candidate will have worked in an administrative capacity and will be highly organised with strong time management skills. Interpersonal skills are equally important as they will be working with different teams and must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assisting in administration of events that bring senior media and cultural (museums; theatres) decision makers together with sustainability specialists through the course of the year
- Working with the Programmes team to deliver this a high profile new photography festival each July
- Backing the Explore team’s delivery of events and materials including the annual November expeditions and fieldwork festival and the development of the linked Handbook and wider events programme across the year.
- Supporting the Education team in running competitions and linked events
- Participating in membership renewal processing during the busiest period in January/February
- Contributing to the delivery of the Medals and Awards Ceremony and AGM and Reception
- Aiding the Collections team in its progressive re-organisation of stores around the building
- Assisting the Director’s Office team in getting the most out of our CRM in terms of network/contacts management
- Covering sickness for Front of House staff
- Administrative support throughout the Society’s Annual Conference
- General willingness to be a team player and provide support as and when needed to any department
In addition to general administration the role will bring or develop strong capabilities in getting the most out of our database (CRM) in relation to membership and wider contact development and tracking.
Selection criteria

Salary and benefits:
This is a permanent, full time post subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three months. The salary range for this post is £26,675 - £27,525 per annum per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The post is based in Kensington, London.
