We are looking for a skilled policy and public affairs professional to join the St Mungo’s Policy and Research team. At a time when rough sleeping is high on the political agenda, we are looking for a dynamic individual who can make the most of the opportunity to raise St Mungo’s profile among decision makers and political stakeholders and influence policy that has an impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

In the role of Policy and Public Affairs Officer you will contribute to the development of St Mungo’s public affairs and policy plans, ensuring that our clients are at the heart of all our influencing work to central and beyond.

You will coordinate public affairs work, creating opportunities to influence national and local government policy; helping achieve our organisational goal to rebuild lives and end rough sleeping for good. Other key responsibilities will include:

• Organising public affairs activities that support the organisation’s overall policy influencing objectives.
• Working closely with other teams to ensure public affairs activity is timely, consistent and, where appropriate, joined up with other external communications.
• Maintain a database of up to date policy positions, developed in partnership with the Policy and Research teams and frontline staff, and support with the development of policy positions.
•  You will help design and implement robust and thorough public affairs plans, coordinate a programme of visits and meetings with key stakeholders across Westminster and Whitehall and proactively spot new engagement opportunities will be crucial to this role.

You’ll have innovative ideas to help us to secure new partnerships and nurture new and existing relationships to mobilise local giving. As an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of securing major gifts or corporate partnerships at the four figure level, you’ll have a can-do attitude and a capability for developing strong networks and contacts.

You will be outcome orientated and a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills too.

Experience

• At least three years of proven successful experience in major gifts or corporate partnerships fundraising of four figures or more.
• Proven ability to manage and develop diverse relationships.
• Excellent written and oral English language communication skills.
• Experience in writing and delivering persuasive copy for supporters.
• Thorough understanding of data protection and, specifically, UK GDPR requirements pertaining to fundraising and sponsorship work.
• Full understanding of fundraising guidelines the code of fundraising practice.
• Experience of using Salesforce or a similar CRM.

Essential skills

• Have excellent IT skills, including Office 365 / Excel.
• Have good communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Kingston CF have no formal offices, this role is primarily home-based, with the possibility for co-working days. 

About Kingston Charitable Foundation

Kingston CF launched as an independent charity in January 2021, following eight successful years as local community fundraising project, Love Kingston. We are a small, dedicated team with over 30 years' third sector experience between us, and we work closely with our very supportive Board of Trustees.

About the Role

The Evidence and Impact (E&I) Analyst role supports the E&I team – a group of 11 and growing passionate, technical team – in conducting high quality research, routine and ad-hoc data analyses, dashboard development and maintenance, and donor-focused monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tasks ensure MSI has the data and evidence needed to inform programming and achieve the bold goals laid out in MSI’s 2030 Strategy. It is desirable that you have the following experience:

• Working with the DHS datasets and other demographic sources

Formal Education/Qualifications:

• A degree in statistics, demography, economics, epidemiology is preferred

The Position: 

Our global health charity client is recruiting a Project Manager (Science, Research and Policy).  In this exciting new role you will provide project management support across the science and policy departments for core projects, and for conferences and communications activities. Reporting to Director level, you will work closely with senior management team members, and colleagues across research, policy, fund raising and public affairs, including international colleagues.

Requirements:

• You will be educated to MSc level in Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology or closely related field.
• You will have experience working in a research/public health setting and developing scientific/policy reports, summaries and presentations.

THE ROLE

The Senior Data and Insights Officer will help us to demonstrate the importance of our tuition for young people and adults who are undertaking these foundational qualifications.

You will have strong attention-to-detail and will make sure our data is relevant, accurate and confidential. You will be skilled in data analysis and interpretation: able to draw out insights from data and be confident in writing – and communicating – impact for a variety of purposes and audiences. 

As the Senior Data and Insights Officer you will work with the Director of Impact, within our Quality and Impact Team to:

Database Usage and Reporting  

• Support our Salesforce Lead in creating reports and dashboards, ensuring all data is relevant, accurate and secure.
• Use our database management system to generate reports and data analysis for the Senior Leadership Team, and other internal colleagues, to support marketing campaigns, fundraising campaigns, statutory information requests and organisational insight.

• Support our ongoing compliance with GDPR across the organisation, as well as upholding our safeguarding frameworks.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

This initiative aims to address the underlying causes of poverty, inequality, and problem debt in the United Kingdom, focusing on racial equity and community empowerment.

Key Responsibilities:

● Leadership and Strategy: Lead and manage a team of community organisers working in partnership with organisations across multiple locations in the UK. Develop and implement a comprehensive community organising strategy aligned with the project's goals.

● Community Engagement: Coach and support community organisers in building relationships and mobilising impacted communities, particularly those from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, single-parent families, and households with disabled members.

About the position 

This is an exciting opportunity to create change at scale, informing and promoting a practical transition to plant-based diets, in order to reduce the number of animals suffering in factory farms. Part of our Farmed Animal Campaigns team, the role will work to increase the quality and availability of plant-based options with major caterers and universities in the UK, impacting hundreds of thousands of meals daily. 

This role also includes an opportunity to support the delivery of a campaign to end the use of farrowing crates, one of the worst forms of cruelty to farmed animals in the UK today. In this role you will support the Senior Manager for Farmed Animal Campaigns to create public-facing campaign assets, and develop compelling research to underpin our policy and industry engagement.

If you are results-oriented, persuasive, organised and, ideally, have knowledge of food and/or farming systems, along with a commitment to animal welfare, then we would like to hear from you. 

Key areas of responsibility:  

• Initiate and maintain relationships with universities, food service companies and public sector institutions to support and oversee their delivery of goals to reduce meat/animal products  

• Work with consultants to develop and deliver our Forward Food culinary training programme to food service professionals, to support their understanding of plant-based food and marketing, and their role in the just protein transition.  

• Identify and support opportunities to encourage people to eat fewer animal products, including working with media and celebrity ambassadors. 

• Conduct environmental impact assessments on menus and food procurement to effectively monitor and report on progress towards meat-reduction goals 

• Deliver compelling and informed advocacy to UK political stakeholders to encourage the adoption of policies that catalyse a just protein transition and better farmed animal welfare. 

• Support development and delivery of HSI UK’s farmed animal campaigns strategies  

• Research and present on industry-related trends and developments in the plant-based food market and alternatives to cage confinement.

About the PVRI
We’re a small charity with a global reach and an important purpose: to reduce the burden of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) - a serious condition that can lead to heart damage and trigger symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, poor growth, fainting, and light-headedness. PVD can reduce both quality of life and length of life, but it isn’t widely recognised or well-understood.

Our aim is to improve clinical care, education, and PVD research. To do this, we bring together an international network of thousands of clinicians, scientists, academics, and industry partners supported by our small team based in Bermondsey, London. Together, we deliver conferences, e-learning, and an academic journal, raise awareness of PVD, and encourage collaboration in research.

We are seeking a Marketing Officer to help grow and service the charity's international membership, increase the value of our membership offer, increase our income, and deliver our e-learning programmes. You’ll help ensure our members are informed about the latest developments and learning opportunities, and they’re valued for their contributions to the PVRI. No two days are the same. One day, you might be writing content for our website and social media channels, and the next, you might be welcoming respected speakers and attendees from over 30 countries to our scientific webinar.

We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. You’ll need to create successful marketing plans and grow our membership. You will also bring excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate high-quality webinars.

Your role

Day to day you will be working closely with the Head of Policy, Research and Public Affairs to manage the strategic development of StepChange Debt Charity’s public affairs activity establishing and managing our relationships with key external stakeholders.

You will lead on influencing government, parliamentarians, and other key stakeholders. To affect with our policy, research, and media teams you will deliver influencing work that makes a compelling case for policy and practise change.

Responsible for managing and oversee planning and delivery of events, including party conference engagement, and thought leadership programs.

You will ensure effective monitoring of developments in Parliament, policy, and legislation, providing strategic advice and insight on emerging threats and opportunities.

About You

• Previous experience working in a public affairs team, campaigns or other influencing roles with a keen understanding of parliamentary processes and a knack for building relationships.
• An understanding of UK parliament and government and demonstrable experience navigating the world of public affairs.

Director of Learning for Ministry

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Director of Learning for Ministry (DLM) to be an advocate and a catalyst for learning for ministry throughout the Church.

The role is based within the Ministries: Vocations and Worship (MVW) team of the Connexional Team of the Methodist Church in Britain, which exists to equip the Methodist Church by training, developing and supporting those called by God to serve in lay and ordained ministry embedding the strategies which support the Church’s aspiration to be inclusive, justice seeking, evangelistic and growing.

Within the team, the DLM will be responsible for:
• working with the Head of Ministries and Learning and in collaboration with others with regards to learning and development for all forms of authorised ministry in the Church’s life
• working with the Director of Ministry Development, for overseeing the development, implementation, evaluation and review of pathways and courses for lay and ordained ministry training.
• formal relationships between the Methodist Council and Methodist-related learning institutions.
• working with the Director of Ministry Development to offer strategic leadership and support to the work of the whole MVW Team
• working with the Director of Research and Scholarship and others, to take a lead on the promotion and oversight of opportunities for higher level academic study for ministers and lay people

Summary of role 

The Policy Manager is a key role in supporting the development and implementation of WeProtect Global Alliance’s strategy and vision for a digital world designed to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse.

We require a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong track record of carrying out policy research and analysis, who can build relationships with external stakeholders, provide technical support to governments, and is able to work in dynamic, global policy environments.

You will be responsible for monitoring policy and political developments, promoting evidence-based policies, and building and maintaining relationships with government, civil society and private sectors to foster change. You will have a sound understanding of how policy decisions are influenced and made. You will also lead on the development of policy outputs including briefings, papers and reports, working with colleagues to build evidence and articulate the Alliance’s work across our membership and with other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will demonstrate considerable professional experience in a comparable policy-focused role and will have a diverse skill set, encompassing critical policy analysis, effective communication of complex policy concepts to diverse audiences and strong project management skills. You will also have a demonstrable understanding of children’s rights and related public policy developments globally.

Policy Manager role and responsibilities 

Overall purpose of role 

WeProtect Global Alliance supports our members to achieve more together than they could alone, through pooling and sharing knowledge and data, solving problems and making a powerful case for change.

The Policy Manager role is pivotal to making a compelling case for action and bringing together experts to generate political commitment, develop policies and practical solutions to make the digital world safe and positive for children, preventing sexual exploitation and abuse and long-term harm. The role will support the vital work of our Global Taskforce, comprised of government members from across the globe. It will require close collaboration with the Communications and Engagement team and other members of the Alliance Secretariat.

Legislative, regulatory and policy work

• Lead on a range of policy projects on key emerging threats and responses to child sexual exploitation and abuse online.
• Analyse national legislation, policies, multilateral initiatives and regulatory approaches to identify trends, best practices, and opportunities for collaboration and policy learning.
• Prepare policy reports, briefs, and proposals, tailored to various audiences, including policymakers, stakeholders, and members, working alongside the Communications and Engagement team.
• Monitor the implementation and impact of policies, regulations, and legislative proposals regarding child sexual exploitation and abuse, including potential challenges in implementing and enforcing regulatory measures.
• Develop and evaluate policy options and recommendations based on evidence, best practice, and stakeholder input, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and member priorities.
• Support the drafting of responses to consultations, policy briefings, and other public policy initiatives, including relevant third-party publications.
• Promote, support and embed the use of the Alliance’s Model National Response with Government members including supporting the use of national legal and policy frameworks in accordance with the UNCRC and other regional and international and regional standards.

Global Taskforce

Support the focus and outcomes delivered by the Alliance’s Global Taskforce:

• Encourage and facilitate effective sharing of information among Taskforce member countries.
• Actively highlight valuable and impact resources available to governments.
• Support Taskforce member countries in identifying opportunities, actions and strategic steps within their national frameworks to enhance the protection of children.
• Organise bi-annual reporting and coordinating special events to foster leadership development for government officials involved in the Taskforce’s work.
• Maintain an up-to-date list of key contacts in Taskforce member countries.

Wider stakeholder engagement

• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, partners, and collaborators relevant to our work across the Alliance membership.
• Lead on development of or contribute to written outputs, such as reports, topic-specific briefing papers, website copy, presentations and blog posts to communicate the findings of our work to relevant audiences.
• Present analysis, evidence and findings about complex and sometimes contentious subjects to a wide range of audiences, ensuring an understanding of the subject and issues arising and enabling informed decision making.
