Heading up Beat’s major donor fundraising, the Philanthropy Manager will drive vital income growth for the charity. They will nurture and uplift existing major donor relationships while identifying and securing the support of new major donors. With 20% of Beat’s income coming from major donors, this role is pivotal in fulfilling our mission to make eating disorders a thing of the past.

We are looking for an ambitious and skilled major donor fundraiser who can drive income growth in this area while insuring that our donors receive the best possible care. Many of our donors have personal experience of an eating disorder or of supporting a loved one with one, and are looking to create something positive out of their suffering by helping others. Do you have the sensitivity and creativity to support them to do so? 

Key responsibilities include:

• Create and deliver against a Major Donor strategy, to drive income growth for Beat.

• Generate new business from high net worth individuals by identifying, researching and developing relationships with suitable prospects, and by responding effectively to inbound leads.

• Hold responsibility for the account management of all Major Donor relationships, working alongside the Beat Executive Team and Trustees to utilise their support when added value can be of benefit. 

• Write creative proposals and inspiring reports, by engaging with Beat delivery teams, M&E and finance colleagues in line with our commitments to Donors.

About the Role  

You will be joining at an exciting time for Ataxia UK as we complete our 60th anniversary year.

This is a key role as member of our growing Fundraising & Communications department, responsible for the coordination and delivery of daily communications tasks and the design and creation of marketing assets.

As the new Challenge Events Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Passage's Challenge Events Fundraising strategy, designed to inspire and engage both existing and new supporters, ultimately building a stable and sustainable income pipeline.

The Policy Manager will play a vital role in managing specified areas of policy and influencing activity within the financial security workstream. This role involves developing evidence-based policy and practice recommendations to improve the financial security of people approaching the end of life, particularly the 111,000 people a year who die in poverty. With government having recently published a Green Paper with proposals to change the health and disability benefits system, and energy prices still high, now is a crucial time for people at the end of life and those around them.

You will be responsible for:
- Managing specified areas of Marie Curie's policy and influencing work, on issues related to the financial security of people at the end of life
- Analysing the policy landscape and developing evidence-based policy recommendations which are informed and where possible co-produced by people with lived experience
- Writing reports, briefings, consultation responses, blogs, and articles to translate research into accessible formats for a range of audiences
- Developing networks with policymakers, researchers, clinicians, practitioners, charities, and service providers on policy and research issues
- Participating in, or chairing, coalitions and presenting at speaking engagements as required

Philanthropy and Partnerships fundraising at Alzheimer's Research UK has grown significantly over recent years. The Directorate has a track record of soliciting seven-figure donations and winning significant corporate partnerships with well-known and well-loved brands such as Omaze, Cadbury, Warburtons, Roadchef and Dobbies.

We are now looking to build upon our success by launching a new, significant fundraising appeal. This appeal will help drive further transformational growth, from income across majors donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners. Ultimately, it will help us funding cutting-edge research that will bring forward the day when we can diagnose, treat and prevent dementia.

As Stewardship Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high quality and meaningful experiences for Alzheimer’s Research UK’s major donors, charitable trusts and corporate partners. The Stewardship Officer will work closely with the Donor Relations Manager and wider Directorate, assisting in the development of creative, personalised communications and materials that help build long-term, impactful relationships with supporters.

You will collaborate closely with teams across the organisation, including Events, Design, and Science Communications to deliver impactful content that is designed to inspire and engage high value donors, including philanthropic individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Stewardship development and delivery

· Develop and deliver stewardship touchpoints across the Philanthropy and Partnerships audience, ensuring a consistent yet tailored approach.

· Identify and communicate new ideas for stewardship and engagement across the Philanthropy and Partnerships team and support on implementation.

· Produce tailored written and visual resources including donor reports, video content, email updates, brochures, invitations, and thank you cards.

· Help maintain and coordinate a schedule of planned donor communications and materials, keeping abreast of current and future organisational and sector-wide news.

· Support with the development of stewardship frameworks and bespoke supporter journeys, helping to shape meaningful experiences for a high value audience.

· Work closely with the Events team to support on the creation and delivery of high value events, ensuring suitability for a high value audience.

Relationship building

· Be an active and engaged member of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team, contributing to a positive, ambitious and collaborative working culture.

· Build strong, collaborative working relationships with colleagues across the organisation.

· Work with colleagues in teams such as Communications, Brand, Events, Design, Science Communications, and Merchandise to help create engaging and inspiring supporter content.

· Develop an in-depth understanding of the external relationships held by the Philanthropy and Partnerships team (major donors, charitable trusts, and corporate partners) to help inform stewardship.

· Attend cross-team meetings, identifying where Philanthropy and Partnerships can support other organisational activity or where activity may pose an opportunity for a high value audience.

Project management and processes

· Project manage tailored donor touchpoints from concept to delivery, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as required to harness expertise across the organisation.

· Coordinate the production process for materials by liaising with internal teams and suppliers, ensuring timelines are met and brand guidelines are followed.

· Develop an excellent working understanding of, and follow, the required processes used by support teams for the submission and management of pieces of work.

· Keep team records up to date and accurate, including entering information into the organisation’s CRM (customer relationship management) system.

· Support the Donor Relations Manager in streamlining processes to benefit colleagues across the Directorate.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals.  This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

Salary: Circa £32,000 per annum, plus benefits

JOB TITLE: Public Affairs Manager

REPORTS TO: Head of Social Impact

RESPONSIBLE FOR: n/a

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Permanent

HOURS OF WORK: Such hours as are necessary to fulfil the duties. This will involve a minimum of 35 hours per week and include work in evenings and weekends as required.

LOCATION: Hybrid of London office and home based.  ParalympicsGB Office: 101 New Cavendish Street, W1W 6XH. Travel may also be required in the UK and abroad as necessary.

JOB PURPOSE: The Public Affairs Manager will manage the implementation of ParalympicsGB’s policy & public affairs strategy, including managing a targeted contact programme with politicians, civil servants and stakeholder organisations. The role will also play a key role in supporting the organisation’s approach to influencing public policy in sport, disability and education and deliver Games’ time guest programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement

• Manage the implementation of the public affairs strategy, with support from the Head of Social Impact and Director of Communications & Social Impact, reporting back to the Senior Leadership Group on the outcomes achieved.
• Work with the CEO, Director of Communications & Social Impact and Head of Social Impact to implement a stakeholder engagement plan building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholder such as politicians, Government departments, ParalympicsGB’s members, sport and disability organisations, and the education sector.
• Coordinate ParalympicsGB colleagues to execute a contact programme with relevant stakeholders including Government Ministers, MPs and Peers, Civil Servants and Stakeholder organisations from ParalympicsGB’s membership and the wider sport, education and disability sectors.
• Monitor and analyse upcoming relevant policy and legislative developments and activities and identify opportunities for influence including drafting responses to parliamentary, government and other consultations.
• Represent ParalympicsGB externally to raise awareness and strengthen our reputation with key policy makers, decision-makers, and relevant public affairs networks. Reporting back to colleagues on the content of meetings and arranging follow-ups as appropriate.
• Prepare high-quality briefing materials for political audiences and senior internal stakeholders to support influencing priorities.
• Organise and support delivery of a series of Westminster based events and activations to support our Public Affairs strategy, including events to raise awareness of ParalympicsGB’s relevant social impact programmes e.g. Equal Play and Community Sport initiatives.
• Contribute to stakeholder engagement around the promotion of Stoke Mandeville as the birthplace of the Paralympic Movement.
• Administer the Paralympic Games guest programme for Government Ministers, Royal Patron and key stakeholders linked to social impact and international relations.

Policy

• Lead the coordination of ParalympicsGB responses to relevant Government consultations and other stakeholder responses.
• Lead the research, manage consultation with key stakeholders, and draft policy papers with regards development of ParalympicsGB’s policy papers in line with the social impact strategy, particularly around education (Equal Play), community sport, and disability.

Social Impact

• Work with the Social Impact team on communicating public affairs opportunities to our athletes (as part of the ParalympicsGB Athlete Community) and connecting social impact programmes to political opportunities.

Correspondence, Planning and Databases

• Draft correspondence with key contacts on behalf of the organisation.
• Develop and manage parliamentary and stakeholder contact management database.
• Provide administrative support to the Communications team as required.
