Job description

Our client believes everyone should have the chance to thrive, but we know that’s not the reality for many. That’s why, for nearly 400 years, the foundation has focused resources on tackling poverty and addressing systemic inequality. Prospectus are proud to be supporting this foundation with the search for an Individual Grants Programme Officer.

Best known for the grants made to organisations throughout the UK, the foundations grant programmes distribute around £50 million each year, mainly to support organisations and projects that help combat social disadvantage and poverty in disadvantaged areas or communities.

Alongside organisational funding, the programme delivers the founder's legacy to help members of his family in financial need. Today, more than 4,500 people are registered. We offer a range of help and support to eligible descendants, including financial, emotional and practical help for a range of concerns.

Within this varied and hands on role, the successful candidate will support the delivery of the grants programme by assessing grant applications and conducting annual reviews of members’ financial circumstances, considering welfare benefit regulations. This very relational role will see you also maintaining regular contact with members to ensure grant payments reflect current circumstances, communicating in regard to grant payments and decisions.

The ideal candidate will have an up to date understanding of welfare benefit and debt advice as well as having experience of assessing individual grant applications. This is a busy, hands on role and so organisation and proven administration experience is also key.

To apply for this role, please submit an up-to-date CV, along with a cover letter to detail your relevant experience for the role by using the job description.

The interview date is Wednesday 21st January 2026.

Approach to candidates using AI in applications

“We recognise that technology, including AI tools, can be helpful when preparing job applications, and we welcome the use of tools that support you in presenting your experience clearly. However, it’s important that your application genuinely reflects your own skills, experience, and voice. We therefore recommend reviewing any AI-generated content carefully to ensure accuracy and authenticity.”

If you are invited to interview, we’ll want to hear directly from you about your skills and experiences. Any significant differences between your application and how you present yourself in person may negatively impact your application.

Requesting reasonable adjustments

We are committed to creating an inclusive recruitment process. If you require any reasonable adjustments to support you during the application or interview stages, please let us know. You can share your needs at any point in the process. Adjustments can be tailored to suit both physical and mental health needs. Our team will work with you to ensure you have what you need to perform at your best.

At Prospectus, we invest in your journey as a candidate and are committed to supporting you with your application. We welcome all candidates to apply, regardless of age, sex/gender, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, or pregnancy/maternity.
