Summary

We have a brand new opportunity for a Marketing Specialist Apprentice to support the Central Quadrant of Harris secondary academies, helping to identify, attract and engage our communities.

Working with the Assistant Director and Principals from the Quadrant, you will have the opportunity to support with our Academy marketing strategies, including social media channels, newsletters, events and create graphic designs, images and videos for both organic and paid campaigns. You will also work with the Federation Talent Attraction Partner.

This is an apprentice role with a fixed-term duration of 18 months. Your learning will be supported by the completion of the Multi-Channel Marketer Level 3 apprenticeship programme.

The Central Quadrant academies are based in Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Croydon and Bromley and the successful candidate will be part of the academy team. We can be flexible on your base academy within the Central Quadrant.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies, primarily focussing on student and staff recruitment and improving brand awareness
• Designing and generating mixed media content for use on academy websites and relevant social media to increase brand awareness and drive engagement
• Managing day-to-day social media posting and platforms
• Helping to develop compelling campaigns that resonate with our target audiences
• Ensuring brand consistency across all communications and external media
• Writing, editing, proofreading and publishing press releases and academy newsletters
• Monitoring and adjusting campaigns to meet budget and performance objectives
• Using data analysis tools to record, interpret, and analyse campaign performance, and creating and delivering actionable reports driven by these insights
• Conducting ongoing research into audiences, preferences and trends
• Researching and generating ideas to maximise audience engagement
• Performing keyword research to identify trends and develop content which improves SEO, discoverability, and engagement
• Using industry standard packages to edit content
• Photographing and videoing events and activities at the Academy and cataloguing and maintaining the Academy digital photo library

The Senior Media Officer is an important role in the media team. Whether you are promoting our fantastic frontline services, collaborating with partners and income generating teams as part of our Winter Appeal, or leading the media strand of a political campaign, you will work in a truly integrated way with colleagues from across Shelter. Your enthusiasm, expertise, and collaborative approach to work will help to upskill other teams at Shelter to better understand and utilise the media to meet our shared goals.   

Creative and results driven, you will have extensive knowledge of media tactics and techniques (traditional, digital, video, photography, podcasts etc), and your communication skills will be second to none. You will be able to translate complex research and policy into pithy soundbites and key messages suitable for public audiences. Given the news agenda rarely waits for anyone, you will be used to thinking on your feet and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

You will be good at managing your own time and projects, but you will also have what it takes to support, enable and motivate others in the media team and across the organisation. A keen eye for risks and opportunities, and a strong attention to detail will help to ensure you and your colleagues deliver to a high standard. The media team comprises of Head of Media, two Media Managers, three Senior Media Officers, two Media Officers, and an Assistant Media Officer.

Job Title: Insight Officer (Children and Young People) - Engagement Development

Campaign Planning & Data Selections Officer

Contract type: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. Full Time, 35 hours per week

Location: London, UK subject to the right to work.

About the Role

As our data savvy Data Selections Officer, you will update and write SQL scripts to enable WaterAid UKs fundraising mass communications, and champion our supporter’s experience ensuring supporters receive communications that are relevant to them. 

In this role you will collaborate with stakeholders across Fundraising, interpreting their data requests into SQL scripts, and work closely with the Data Engineering team to update our data warehouse as the organisations data requirements evolve. 

You’ll also: 

• Review current SQL scripts and optimise them
• Work with teams on setting up, and updating our supporter journeys
• Advise stakeholders on using data effectively, creating variable outputs or segmentation for testing
• Work closely with the Analytics team, implementing their findings and collaborating on propensity models
• Champion data quality, and work with relevant teams to constantly improve the data in the data warehouse.

Requirements

The successful applicant will have a keen eye for detail and be able to interpret natural language data requests into complex SQL queries.

To be successful, you’ll need: 

• Experience of writing SQL syntax, including the creation of views, stored procedures and processes.
• Good knowledge of data protection legislation and its application.

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

• Experience working in a Fundraising or charity environment.
• Demonstrable understanding of a data warehouse.

Purpose of the job

This role creates a positive impact for young people by managing partners through the effective delivery of our youth work programmes, delivering high quality facilitation and training and building excellent relationships across a region to contribute to improvements in our network offer.

 Working with Project Mangers across Network Delivery, you will enable the effective delivery of our provision to the youth sector through effective contract management and support for partnerships with Delivery Partners and Grantees. You will deliver high quality training and facilitated sessions, translating curriculum and content into engaging and effective delivery. Working across the Northeast of England, Wales and Northern Ireland you will pro-actively build relationships with organisations and networks and foster connections that will help to unlock youth work for all young people. You will gather insights from across your area to feed into and contribute to the development of our offer to our network.

Key responsibilities

Programme delivery

• Account and contract management of relationships with a portfolio of Delivery Partners and Grantees within your geographical location

• Ensure that Delivery Partners and Grantees understand their programme and grant requirements and are successfully delivering against those

• Support Project Managers in coordinating and administering a range of project activities through the project lifecycle including contracting, onboarding, monitoring progress, event management and delivery and data collection

• Conduct visits to youth organisations engaged in our digital and physical delivery

• Support the Impact team with monitoring and evaluation of our work as required, including data input and collection

• Support the External Relations team with opportunities to engage media and politicians with specific projects.

Facilitation and training

• Deliver engaging and effective facilitation, training and events across both digital and physical platforms.

• Translate curriculum, content and workforce development tools into impactful delivery for youth workers and young people across both digital and physical platforms.

Network Development

• Build knowledge of the provision of support for young people in your geographical location to enable you to act as an effective relationship builder, networker and connector

• Actively engage individuals, organisations and specific networks that can support development of our delivery (e.g., employment networks, regional infrastructure organisations, Violence Reduction Networks)

• Facilitate Delivery and Grantee networks and collaboration spaces as per the requirements of our youth work provision and network offer

• Engage Delivery Partners and Grantees with our network offer and facilitate the embedding of our youth development content and workforce support tools

• Identify opportunities to showcase excellent Delivery Partner and/or Grantee practice to the wider network through our internal and external channels

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of humanitarian crisis overseas. This role will require you to lead on organic social media as part of the DEC Communications team, working closely with the Digital and Innovation team in Fundraising, collaborate with social leads across our 15 member charities and public figures through our talent agency. During appeal launch periods it will also involve managing a small social media team of volunteers.
