In the role of Carer Information Officer, you'll be instrumental in researching, scoping and working closely with our Communications & Marketing team in developing our creation of information resources, alongside our skilled staff team to ensure that the information is accurate, relevant and well presented. You will create high quality information content suited to a variety of channels including (but not exclusively) e-learning platforms, web, video, and print.

Through the work of this role, we will increase carer awareness to enable us to reach and support more carers, provide easy access to information and advice, enable better navigation of services by carers, and help carers feel better connected and that their voices are heard through the content we produce. Carers will be better able to find information digitally at a time that works for them.

This role works within our Information and Advice Team with close links to our Engagement, Community and Comms & Marketing teams. You will develop a deep understanding of carers and their needs putting equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and co-production at the heart of your practice.

This hybrid role combines remote work with occasional travel to in-person meetings and activities, which may include some weekend engagements.

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Research and Content Development: Identify and evaluate reliable sources of information to develop accurate and accessible content that provides a wide range of information and guidance for carers.
• Collaboration: Work with carer service teams and external partners to ensure information is current and relevant. Work with Marcomms and HR (training) to co-produce high-quality, information resources in engaging and accessible formats.
• Co-production: Work alongside the Engagement & Volunteer Team to explore and collate carer insights to inform and include carers in content creation.
• Digital Presentation: Embrace digital innovation and emerging technologies, including AI, to co-create accessible digital resources tailored to the needs of unpaid carers. This includes producing content for the website and e-learning platforms, ensuring it is accurate, inclusive, and easy to navigate.
• Awareness Raising: Contribute to the promotion of Carers Support West Sussex and the services offered by creating engaging information that increases public and professional understanding of unpaid carers and the challenges they face.  
• Trend Spotting: Horizon scan to spot social and news trends and understand developing opportunities for new ways to share information.

Safeguarding Officer

£45,000 - £48,000 depending on experience

Southern Synod are seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer. The post holder will be the main contact for the churches within Southern Synod to advise them on safeguarding children and adults at risk on a day-to-day basis, as well as providing training to a wide range of people as necessary.  They will have excellent communication skills, broad experience of networking across organisations, expert knowledge of current statutory safeguarding legislation and the ability to work and travel independently. 

Discretion and confidentiality is important, as is an awareness of and willingness to work with the aims, objectives, culture, challenges and Christian ethos of the United Reformed Church. 

 Main responsibilities:

· to be an advocate and role model for safeguarding in the Synod

· to advise and support the Synod and local Churches in safeguarding matters

· to deliver or enable safeguarding training

· to ensure that accurate records are kept, and relevant reports are completed

· to keep abreast of developments in safeguarding and maintain appropriate links

This role sits within the Mission and Evangelism Directorate. The role will seek to develop our safeguarding culture and practice. The Safeguarding Lead will work with individuals across all of Church Army including our employees, Commissioned Evangelists, and Mission Community. The Safeguarding Lead is the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns or allegations and is responsible for ensuring the organisation responds in a trauma-informed manner as well as in line with the standards and expectations set out. The post holder will have had experience of managing organisational risks in relation to safeguarding and be familiar with the guidance set by the National Safeguarding Team for Religious Communities.

As YoungMinds’ Senior Safeguarding Officer, you will play a key part in helping to promote the safety and wellbeing of everyone who comes into contact with YoungMinds – whether that’s via our Activist programme, our campaigns, individual and corporate fundraising, our Parents Helpline, social media, training and service design work or any of the charity’s other activities. It’s a role that engages with colleagues across the organisation, at all levels, and will give you the opportunity to contribute to YoungMinds’ ‘culture of care’ approach to safeguarding.

You will build excellent, trusting relationships with teams where safeguarding concerns are most frequently managed, and be available to guide them, and all other staff and volunteers, in their day-to-day practice, as well as when a safeguarding emergency arises. When necessary, you will confidently use your knowledge of safeguarding and child/adult protection thresholds to take appropriate actions, including creating and maintaining high-quality records, signposting, and referring cases to statutory bodies for investigation. You will frequently provide support out-of-hours where YoungMinds activities are happening in the evenings, weekends or overnight.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

• Provide safeguarding advice, direction and support to staff and volunteers and take over the management of cases if necessary.
• Manage and escalate referrals to other organisations where appropriate.
• Apply YoungMinds’ procedures for information sharing internally and externally, including keeping records of concerns, incidents and referrals.
• Sign off risk assessments created by teams across the organisation for all events involving young people or where other risks are identified.
• Manage the on-call workload of the safeguarding team and Lead Safeguarding Officers, including the planning of out of hours safeguarding support. Please note: this role will require you to be on-call on a frequent basis.
• Support the Senior Safeguarding Manager in delivering organisational safeguarding priorities and contribute to safeguarding audit processes.
• Deliver safeguarding training across the organisation, including induction and refresher training, and support facilitation of bespoke safeguarding training.
• Share experiences and learning with other YoungMinds colleagues.
• Deputise for the Senior Safeguarding Manager and represent the safeguarding team at internal and external meetings and other events where necessary.
• Champion, contribute to and invest in YoungMinds’ ‘culture of care’.
• Other duties that may from time to time be necessary, compatible with the nature and grade of this post.

This 21-hour per week position is for someone excited by the prospect of building upon the current strategy and strategic oversight of all safeguarding matters as well as being an advocate for safeguarding across the Synod structure and in its seventy-five churches.

The successful applicant will be willing to work within the Christian ethos of the United Reformed Church and at times travel extensively in Wales.

Job Purpose

The Deputy Safeguarding Advisor is a very important role at the Diocese, as you will provide advice to parishes on safeguarding issues, cases and incidents to help ensure that our parishes, the Cathedral and the Diocesan offices discharge their responsibilities for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect.

Reporting to the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer and working within the Safeguarding Team, you will support and carry out casework which will also include reviewing safety plans and/or safeguarding agreements, assessing and managing risk of harm and undertaking risk assessments on blemished DBS checks or Confidential Declarations.

As Deputy Safeguarding Advisor, you will provide best practice advice to all stakeholders and partners as well as participating in the Diocese of Canterbury’s Safeguarding Executive Group and Diocesan and Cathedral Safeguarding Advisory Panel, whilst taking responsibility for preparing reports when requested.

Working closely with the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer, you will also coordinate the Diocese’s response to victims and survivors of church-based abuse which includes ensuring that victims and survivors are assisted in accessing relevant support services.

With a relevant professional qualification or equivalent (for example, social care or criminal justice) you should have significant experience of undertaking safeguarding risk assessments and professional safeguarding expertise and experience in a relevant statutory, voluntary, or judicial agency. 

Practitioner experience of working with victims and survivors of abuse and with offenders and perpetrators of abuse, is also essential.

You should have an understanding of the broader safeguarding field including its social and political context along with an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation in relation to safeguarding children and adults, as well as having experience in using appropriate interview models with victims, survivors, and respondents.

Experience of contributing to case review processes and identifying and disseminating lessons to be learnt, e.g. Serious Case Review, Domestic Homicide Reviews, would be desirable. It would also be beneficial but not essential for you to have an understanding and good working knowledge of the Church of England, its organisation and governance structures.

You will be required to travel across the Diocese for meetings, so the ability to travel to remote locations and work flexibly is a necessity. This role will also be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

International Care Network (ICN) is a Christian charity whose aim is to help to rebuild the lives of asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants. The Community team provides a programme of support and activities for our ICN service users. We are looking for a part-time Crèche Supervisor to join the team to run two community-based crèche for pre-school, migrant children (aged 0 to 4) in Bournemouth. These run alongside our community English classes for women.

The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and creative early years professional with a suitable childcare qualification at Level 3 or above. She will be a confident leader able to plan and implement a programme of play and learning that is engaging, inclusive and developmental for these children as well as providing support and information to their parents/carers. The Crèche Supervisor is assisted in delivering activity by a Crèche Worker and dedicated Volunteers. This role is pivotal in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young migrant children helping to prepare them for their transition into UK schools.

We are now looking for a capable Finance Officer to to support the effective running of our financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes.

• Managing the purchase and sales ledgers, including processing supplier invoices, preparing payment runs, raising sales invoices, and applying VAT as required

• Carrying out daily income and bank reconciliations, posting income to our CRM system (Salesforce), and monitoring Direct Debit payments

• Processing staff expenses and business credit card transactions, ensuring all costs are accurately allocated

• Supporting month-end tasks, including income reconciliations, credit notes, journal postings, and submitting Gift Aid claims to HMRC

• Preparing regular internal and external financial reports, including sponsorship and earmarked donation summaries for the International Office

• Assisting with the annual external audit and maintaining clear process documentation.
