Borderline Support UK CIC supports people from all over the UK who are living with borderline personality disorder, their families, and the professionals who work with them. Safeguarding is central to everything we do, we recognise that the welfare of our service users and volunteers is paramount and that we have a duty of care to everyone in our services. About the role
Although we recognise that safeguarding is the responsibility of all, the Safeguarding Trustee will take the lead on safeguarding, supporting the board and chief executive.
The safeguarding trustee will:
- review and implement safeguarding policies and procedures
- ensure there is an annual review
- be aware of safeguarding legislation and other relevant obligations including the safeguarding expectations of the Charity Commission
- produce and deliver safeguarding reports to the board
- produce and assist with safeguarding training
- support the trustees to develop their understanding of safeguarding

About the board
Our board of trustees is a friendly, dedicated and active group. Our six trustees help run committees and groups, and are passionate about the goals of the organisation. The board meets once a month at present (this will move to less frequently in time), and meets remotely over Teams.

SAFEGUARDING TRUSTEE
Blue smile is looking for a Trustee to join our friendly, committed and active Board, taking the lead on safeguarding, supporting the Chair of Trustees and Charity Director.
Blue Smile’s mission and purpose
Blue Smile's mission is to transform the mental health and life chances of Cambridgeshire children through arts-based therapies. We help over 200 children a week to be happier and have brighter futures. We work with schools in Cambridge and the region providing children with one-to-one therapy. We also directly support both schools and parents to help their children through our extensive Menu of Services. We work in particular, in accordance with our charitable aims, with those who face disadvantage or deprivation.
The charity has over 70 clinical experts working with us. Our office team supply essential management and administrative support to this clinical work.
Safeguarding is central to all Blue Smile activities, and we recognise that the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk, is paramount and that all have equal rights of protection. We have a duty of care when they are in our charge, and we will do everything we can to provide a safe and caring environment whilst they attend our activities.
Blue Smile's Trustees
The Trustees are responsible for appointing and overseeing the work of the Charity Director, making key decisions about the charity, and ensuring it is run appropriately and in compliance with the law and good governance. The Trustees must ensure the charity carries out its purposes for the public benefit. They must act in the charity’s best interest, manage its resources responsibly, act with reasonable care and skill and ensure the charity is accountable.

THE ROLE OF THE SAFEGUARDING TRUSTEE
Though safeguarding is the responsibility of all trustees the Safeguarding Trustee will take the lead on safeguarding supporting the Chair of Trustees and Charity Director.
The Safeguarding Trustee will:
- Have oversight of the safeguarding policies and procedures. Ensuring there is an annual review which is reported to the other trustees.
- Consider the charity's strategic plans in the light of safeguarding legislation and other relevant obligations and the safeguarding expectations of the Charities Commission.
- Check the charities risk register reflects safeguarding risks properly and work with the Board and Charity Director to plan sensible measures to take.
- Ensure there is space on the agenda for safeguarding reports and help trustees understand and challenge those reports.
- Attend relevant safeguarding training events.
- Support the trustees in developing their individual and collective understanding of safeguarding.
Experience and Skills we are looking for in a Safeguarding Trustee:
- Experience working in safeguarding for children and young people.
- Awareness of relevant guidance, particularly, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive and confidential information.
- Commitment to the values (and ethics) of the charity.
Role type: Unremunerated/Volunteer (reasonable expenses reimbursed)
Location: Trustee meetings currently take place mainly online but attendance at Blue Smile offices in Central Cambridge, or other locations where we work, may be required from time to time
Commitment: Six meetings a year of the Trustee Board (usually on a weekday evening) Trustees are also represented on subcommittees and advisory groups which report to the Board. We would encourage the Safeguarding Trustee to be part of the Clinical and Ethics Committee which meets once a term.
Trustees may also offer support with projects and events as required and as their time allows.

Been There is a charity in the form of an app that connects adults with a vetted and trained Mentor to support with their mental health relating to body image issues. We are looking for a lovely Safeguarding Lead to take the reigns.
What will you be doing?
As the designated safeguarding lead,you act as the main source of support, advice and expertise for safeguarding at Been There for the beneficiaries. You will be working closely with the Founder & CEO, Head of Operations, Trustees and volunteer Mentors. The role will be remote with the opportunity to meet up too.

Coach Core is a social mobility charity that uses sport and apprenticeships to change the long-term career pathways of young people facing discrimination, exclusion, or lack of opportunity in the UK.
Since 2012, we have worked with nearly 1000 apprentices in 19 UK cities, placing them with over 250 employers across the sport, physical activity, and youth work sectors. In addition to developing their own skills and improving their future prospects, these inspiring young people facing lack of opportunity, exclusion or even discrimination, have also impacted over 12 million beneficiaries through their work.
As a trusted and respected national partner in the sport and physical activity sector, we now embark on the next chapter of our journey with a brand new strategy for 2024-2027 that our trustee board have a significant part to play in realising those ambitions.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
• Ensure that SEED and its representatives function within all legal and regulatory frameworks continually striving for best practice in governance.
· Comply with SEED’s Code of Conduct and policies, providing leadership on its value base and organisational behaviour, including safeguarding, human resources and financial management.
· Work alongside fellow Trustees and the Senior Management Team in developing SEED’s strategic direction, promoting and developing this through good governance and clear strategic planning. To evaluate progress made towards achieving the strategic objectives.
• Ensure that SEED operates within its Charitable Objectives and organisational strategy in order that its work remains focussed and makes the greatest impact to those it serves.
• Actively contribute to the development of SEED’s business plan, monitoring and evaluating performance against agreed objectives.
• Prepare for and participate fully in board meetings reviewing all reports coming to these meetings.
• To undertake training when required.
• Use any specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the Board of Trustees reach quick and sound decisions and participate in sub-committees.
· Support the recruitment of senior staff and offer on-going support and monitoring of their work.
· Assist in the recruitment, on-boarding and support of new Trustees when required.
· Act reasonably in decision making and leadership of the organisation and manage risks with a considered, proportionate and balanced approach.
· Maintain sound financial management of SEED’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the organisations’ objects and that assets are protected and managed to ensure the proper investment of the charity’s funds.
· Act as a counter-signatory on charity cheques and any applications for funds.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of SEED including having appropriate policies and procedures in place. These policies and procedures are reviewed and signed off by the Trustee Board.
· Ensure that SEED has robust safeguarding policy and procedures in place and that safeguarding is embedded across the organisation
· Safeguard the good name and reputation of SEED, acting in the best interest of the charity, staff and beneficiaries at all times.
· Promote the work of SEED externally seeking opportunities that might further the work and visibility of the Charity.
· Support the Managing Director in leading the Charity, providing advice and practical help and participating in their annual evaluation.
· Maintain absolute confidentiality about all sensitive or confidential information received through carrying out the duties of a Trustee.
· Remain open and accessible to SEED’s staff through occasional communication and site visits.
Accountability:
As a Trustee you are responsible and liable for the governance and functioning of the charity and are accountable in varying degrees to a variety of stakeholders including: service users, members, funders, the Charity Commission, and Companies House.
SEED Trustees should uphold the fiduciary duty required of all charity trustees to act in the best interests of both current and future beneficiaries of the charity, being held personally liable for any breach of that duty.
Support regarding this is given by fellow Trustees, the Managing Director and the Senior Management team.
Required skills & experience:
The successful applicant will:
• Demonstrate a passion for and sound knowledge of development and/or conservation issues facing least developed countries such as Madagascar.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge and keen interest in at least one of SEED’s core areas (community health; sustainable livelihoods; environmental conservation) or in a key functional area (management, finance, marketing).
• Have a reasonable level of understanding of legal, financial, audit and other regulatory requirements of a charity, ideally through experience as a trustee.
• Show commitment to SEED and have sufficient time and willingness to contribute effectively to board proceedings and sub committee work.
• Be able to make quick and sound decisions based on an analysis of information presented to them.
• Have the confidence to both advocate for or challenge ideas and can remain independent of any influence from other organisations or individuals.

Summary of the Role: As a Trustee, you'll be responsible for setting strategic aims, objectives, and direction. You'll ensure YSS achieves its objectives, represents stakeholders' interests, and act as an ambassador for the charity.
Structure, Governance, and Management: YSS is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. The Board delegates responsibility for day-to-day management to the Managing Director, aided by the Senior Management and Leadership Team.
Strategy: YSS has a broad 3-year strategy linked to our organizational Theory of Change. Bi-annual strategic reviews are undertaken by the Trustees and Senior Management Team.

Trustees (four roles), MyBnk
Unremunerated – c. 12 days per year
Being confident about managing your own money might not sound unusual. But for many young people, it’s a real challenge, and one which holds potentially major risks. Knowing where to go for money advice, and who to trust, is so much more than just good personal admin – it’s a building block of social mobility.
MyBnk is a leading financial education charity, working towards the creation of a financially capable generation across all four nations of the UK. We support young people between the ages of 5 and 25, with a particular focus on those who can’t afford for things to go wrong. Our award-winning programmes are highly effective and well-regarded, and we’ve grown rapidly in recent years, but there’s still much more to do. Today’s young people face a far less predictable job market, with high rents, economic uncertainty, and an increasingly complex financial marketplace. So we want to extend our reach and impact by an order of magnitude in the next few years: and to do that, we want to strengthen our Board with a number of new Trustees.
We have four opportunities to help guide and steer this exciting, high-growth charity into its next phase. Two of this round of appointments will be qualified accountants, ideally with experience in a Big Four firm or corporate environment. Our rapid recent growth – from £1m to £4m turnover in just a few years – has been enabled and underpinned by strong financial controls, and we will also ask these trustees to join our Finance Committee. We also want to appoint two charity specialists – one of whom will have executive experience of working across the regions and nations of the UK, and one with an excellent understanding of the safeguarding requirements of working with young people. Both of these Trustees will also bring a nuanced knowledge of charity governance and strategic planning.

About Us:
Established in 1924, Katherine Low Settlement has been a cornerstone of the Battersea community for nearly a century. As we celebrate our centenary year, we continue to be a beacon of support for children, young people, families, older adults, women, refugees, and newly-arrived communities. With a blend of dedicated staff and passionate volunteers, we offer vital community services, advocate for social change, and provide a space for over 500 individuals each week. Our mission is to reduce poverty and isolation while fostering unity in Battersea and beyond.
The Role:
As a Volunteer Trustee, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of KLS and ensuring our continued success. From overseeing governance to offering expertise in fundraising, property management, legal affairs, or HR, your contributions will directly impact the lives of those we serve. We're seeking individuals who are aligned with our vision, mission, and values, and who are committed to the vibrant community of Battersea.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and review strategic aims in alignment with legal obligations and organisational objectives.
- Monitor the performance of KLS against agreed-upon targets and strategic priorities.
- Ensure compliance with charity law, regulations, and safeguarding practices.
- Act as stewards of KLS's assets, including finances, property, and organisational reputation.

About The Outrunners
The Outrunners support young people to get outdoors, get moving, and build the futures they want - all through the power of running, movement and the community. Our vision is a London where everyone is included and no one is left behind.
The young people we work with have incredible talent, creativity and energy but don’t get the opportunities they need because of deep structural disadvantages - racism, sexism and financial inequality.
We harness the collective energy of the running world to change that: helping young people access fun, accessible movement and running, access opportunities that help them build the futures they want, and work to change how their local area supports them.
Driven by young people themselves, we are building a community that moves together: removing barriers to participation in running and movement; building connections in London’s diverse neighbourhoods; creating pathways to help young people achieve their ambitions; and driving change to tackle disadvantage and make running truly inclusive. Last year, we supported over 350 young people across our programmes.
In the 5 years that The Outrunners has existed, we have rapidly caught the attention of the running world and have grown quickly, thanks to the impactful support of major brands, races, the wider running world and the philanthropic and community sectors. We now have significant partnerships with Nike and The London Marathon that are taking us to the next level.
We have an experienced team, a growing basis of dedicated supporters, connections in the running and sports world and a strong income pipeline for 2024/25.
Why do we need new Trustees?
We are at the next stage of our development and want to bring on board the expertise and skills that can support and guide our growth. With our strong partnership, increasing influence, and growing network of supporters, we have a major opportunity to grow our impact in the coming years.
We want to ensure that The Outrunners are equipped to maximise this opportunity to support more young people and drive real structural change in the running world and beyond.
What we need from our Trustees?
Trustees must be people with independent judgement, an ability to speak their mind and a willingness to use their knowledge, experience, and networks to support The Outrunners.
Although not essential, we are particularly interested in trustees with either of the following skills and experience:
1. Experience navigating periods of rapid growth and scaling, including continuing to secure the resources that are required to do this sustainably and managing the risks this entails. We envisage candidates with this experience might have experience in finance, tech, or running or investing in start-ups; or
2. Experience influencing and driving positive change in sports, (particularly change that supports under-represented groups) to access better support and greater opportunities. We envisage candidates who have experience within the running world (or similar sports) with the brands, races, events or media.
Beyond this, the things we need from our Trustees are:

A passion for shaping a different future for young people and having a positive impact in local communities

An understanding of the challenges facing young people in Hackney, and an insight into how The Outrunners Charity can best add value to supporting the future generations around us.

An appreciation of charity finance that would contribute to our Finance Committee’s robust scrutiny and strengths in navigating our finances, operating environment and fundraising targets

We are not expecting applicants to have all of these qualities; and expect that the best candidates will come with some others. But we hope that our trustees between them will be able to cover all of these key attributes and more.

Time Commitment Expectations:
Board members are expected to attend the four quarterly meetings and AGM, whilst also being flexible and responsive to unexpected changes. Our Board members are active ambassadors for The Outrunners Charity. This means attending and supporting events and taking opportunities to promote and develop the work of The Outrunners Charity through networks and contacts. We therefore ask that Board members commit about 2 days per year to The Outrunners Charity, on top of the four evening Board Meetings a year and an AGM.
The four essential board meetings are 3 hours long. Meetings are held at a date and time which is convenient for all, which is usually a weekday evening, and are held online until it is safe to do so face to face.
Minimum tenure for a Trustee is 2 years.

The Role of the Board
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines. Specifically, the Board is responsible for:
- Ensuring that the charity and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework of charities and in line with the organisation’s governing document, continually striving for best practice in governance.
- Upholding the fiduciary duty invested in the position, undertaking such duties in a way that adds to public confidence and trust in the charity.
- Determining the overall direction and development of the charity through good governance and clear strategic planning.
Trustee - Role Description
- Ensuring the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements, and acts within the confines of its governing document and in furtherance to organisational activities contained therein.
- Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries and future beneficiaries at all times.
- Promoting and developing the charity in order for it to grow and maintain its relevance to society.
- Maintaining sound financial management of the charity’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the organisations’ objects, and investment activities meet accepted standards and policies.
- Interviewing, appointing, and monitoring the work and activities of the senior paid staff if necessary.
- Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources, acting as a counter-signatory on charity cheques and any applications for funds if necessary
- Maintaining absolute confidentiality about all sensitive/confidential information received in the course of trustee’s responsibilities to the charity.
Accountable to
- Funders, beneficiaries, the Charity Commission, and Companies House.
Time commitment
- Attendance at quarterly meetings (held in central London on a weekday from 2–5pm)
- Ad hoc advice and support to senior staff and Board members, usually via email.
- Term for all Trustees is 3 years, with the option of re-election by mutual agreement for one further term.
