Job description

VOLUNTEER TRUSTEES

Help Shape the Future of Urban Youth

Urban Youth — Your City, Your Vibe.

Urban Youth is a bold new grassroots youth work charity based in inner London. We aim to create vibrant, screen‑free spaces where young people connect with inspiring adult role models, build confidence, develop life skills, and discover who they can become.

We are at the beginning of an exciting journey — and we are seeking visionary, committed Trustees to help guide our mission and ensure we build a charity rooted in integrity, impact, and hope.

The Role

We are recruiting Trustees to support the establishment, governance, and strategic direction of Urban Youth. As a Trustee, you will help shape the systems, culture, and long‑term vision of a charity dedicated to empowering young people across London.

This is a rare opportunity to join at the very start — helping to build a movement that will change lives.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight as Urban Youth grows.

  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, and financial stewardship.

  • Support the development of policies, safeguarding, and operational frameworks.

  • Champion our mission, values, and youth‑centred approach.

  • Act as an ambassador for Urban Youth within your networks.

  • Offer guidance, expertise, and constructive challenge to the leadership team.

  • Attend quarterly board meetings (remote or in person).

  • Contribute to subcommittees or working groups as needed.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from people with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Charity governance or leadership.

  • Youth work, education, or community development.

  • Finance, accounting, or charity fundraising.

  • HR, safeguarding, or organisational development.

  • Legal, compliance, or risk management.

  • Marketing, branding, or communications.

  • Operations, project management, or strategy.

Most importantly, we’re looking for Trustees who embody our values:

Empowerment. Belonging. Authenticity. Creativity. Respect. Courage.

If you believe in creating spaces where young people feel seen, valued, and inspired — you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Gain

  • The chance to shape a new youth charity from the ground up.

  • A meaningful leadership role with real social impact.

  • The opportunity to build a legacy for young people in London.

  • A collaborative, values‑driven environment.

  • The satisfaction of helping young people discover who they are — and who they can become.

Time Commitment

Approximately 6–8 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings and occasional working group sessions. Flexible and designed to fit around professional commitments.

Join Us

If you’re ready to help build a charity that empowers a generation, we’d love to hear from you.
