About the role
The Project Assistant will manage day-to-day activities for the School Health Integrated Programme (SHIP), working closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. Purpose of this role.
This role is central to driving our work forward. The Access Interns Programme, a partnership between The Kartik Foundation and Variety, provides disabled young people with meaningful corporate internship opportunities to support their career aspirations. For many disabled young people, accessing work experience can be challenging due to societal barriers, lack of support, and limited opportunities. Access Interns is designed to break down these barriers, ensuring that participants gain valuable work experience, professional skills, and industry connections to help them succeed in their chosen careers.
The Access Interns Programme Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of the ACCESS INTERNS programme, overseeing the internship placement process, employer engagement, and student support. This includes managing the selection process, coordinating placements, ensuring workplace accessibility, and tracking the programme’s impact.
The role also involves working closely with corporate employers to create inclusive work environments, supporting interns throughout their placements, and expanding engagement with schools, employers, and industry leaders to ensure disabled young people have equal access to high-quality career opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme Management
· Managing the Access Interns Programme, ensuring it is delivered to a high standard and in line with Variety’s policies and procedures
· Working with the Chief Executive Officer to set annual internship placement targets, manage the Access Interns budget and develop the Access Interns Programme.
· Overseeing the end-to-end process of the programme, from student recruitment and employer engagement to placement coordination and post-internship evaluation.
· Adhering to Variety’s Safeguarding policies and procedures and working with the Head of Programmes, by recognising that interns are vulnerable adults, and taking responsibility for their safety, welfare, and well-being throughout the programme.

· Developing guidance materials, training sessions, and workshops to prepare students for internships and support their professional growth

Logistics and Coordination

· Working closely with the fundraising team to assist in converting Access Intern partners into Corporate Donors for Variety’s wider work.

Reporting directly to the Head, this post will be targeted with generating £500k+ of revenue and will demand both exceptional relationship building skills and technical fundraising expertise. The successful candidate will have freedom to innovate and make a tangible difference and be able to engage prospective donors and the wider highly supportive Seniors (Alumni) community. You will protect the School’s reputation by conducting thorough due diligence on donors and ensuring full compliance with OSCR regulations.
You will be responsible for the School’s capital and strategic fundraising initiatives supported by the Alumni and Development Officer and will work with the supportive, mission-driven Executive Team and Board of Governors to develop and implement these.
To be successful you will be educated to degree level and have knowledge and experience in previous roles where you have developed a demonstrable track record of devising and implementing multi-year fundraising strategies which have allowed you to personally secure 5 and 6 figure gifts from individuals, trusts or foundations. You will possess the financial and legal expertise to structure complex gifts and bring them to completion.

About the role
As District Coordinator, you will lead the effective implementation of the Comprehensive and Accessible Eye Health – Bangladesh project at the district level. You will coordinate with partners, including organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), hospitals, and community stakeholders, to ensure project deliverables are achieved. The role involves monitoring, documentation, reporting, and capacity building, while maintaining compliance with donor and organisational standards. You will also support planning, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement to deliver inclusive eye health services.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with hospital partners, inclusion partners, and OPDs to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
- Support partners in planning, monitoring, record keeping, and quality assurance of project activities.
- Assist in organising capacity development activities for community health workers and factory staff.
- Monitor project progress, compliance with partnership agreements, and adherence to donor requirements.
- Track project expenditure, analyse budget variances, and report findings to the line manager.
- Conduct monitoring visits, review performance targets, and support partners in addressing underperformance.
- Prepare and submit accurate project reports, ensuring deadlines and donor compliance are met.
- Facilitate coordination with local stakeholders, schools, and disability rights committees to promote inclusive eye health.
- Support capacity building for OPDs, partner hospitals, and field teams in eye care and disability inclusion.
- Collaborate with finance, advocacy, and safeguarding teams to ensure integrated and compliant project implementation.

Jobholder Requirements
Essential
- Master’s degree in social science, Development Studies, Public Health, Economics, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience working in health or eye care programmes within NGOs/INGOs or similar organisations.
- Knowledge of project cycle management and experience managing CSR-funded projects.
Desirable
- Ability to understand and work with project budgets, forecasts, and reports.
- Experience in training needs assessment and facilitation.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Bangla.
- Strong negotiation and motivational skills.
- Valid motorcycle driving licence.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations; Bangla typing skills an advantage.

About SCEC
SCEC was founded over twenty years ago to provide learning enrichment opportunities to primary school children in disadvantaged communities in south London. Together with our partners, several leading independent schools, we currently operate four schemes in math, literacy, science and art. Your Role
The Scheme Director is a newly created role that will be pivotal in helping SCEC extend its reach. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will help SCEC design and implement an expansion programme as well as coordinating the delivery of the existing schemes via our school partners. You will also serve as a trusted partner to the Board in the administration of the charity.
Similar to a COO, this role straddles the operational and the strategic. We are looking for a confident communicator and relationship builder who can work across varied stakeholder groups. You will have project management experience that can be applied to challenges like process design and change management. You should be able to grasp the big picture and have an eye for the details needed to deliver successful outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join SCEC on a transformational journey working with excellent learning partners and established leaders to improve educational outcomes for children.
